Reports had surfaced back in March that singer Justin Timberland and his wife, actress Jessica Biel, had bought in to the “paparazzi proof”, celebrity-studded apartment development at 443 Greenwich.

Now it looks as though they may have a bargain – apparently paying $US20.1 million ($27.1 million) for one of the building’s eight penthouses, Penthouse G, which was originally listed for $US27.5 million.

It’s a four-bedroom, six bathroom luxury apartment with exposed wooden beams and aged brass, around 500 square-metres of space and a 220-square-metre rooftop terrace encircling the upstairs entertainment room.

The building itself is kitted out with privacy-preserving features such as interior garden courtyard, interior parking and a 24-hour concierge. There’s also gym facilities, change rooms with Turkish baths next door, a 20-metre indoor pool, a temperature controlled wine cellar and a kids’ playroom.

Once a book-binding factory, it has had a slew of celebrity names associated with it, including Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Lewis Hamilton, Mike Myers, Harry Styles and Jennifer Lawrence.

Styles reportedly paid $US8.71 million ($11.855 million) for his apartment in the building. Meanwhile, Lawrence was trying to rent her place out while she was filming a movie in London, apparently asking $27,500 a month, and Mike Myers is reported to have relisted his apartment a week after he bought it, eventually selling at a $US675,000 loss.

The most expensive apartment sold in the building – which was, unsurprisingly, one of the other penthouses which came with its own private pool – sold for an impressive $44 million. That was also cheaper than it’s original asking price, a quite-substantial $US55 million.

It’s not too late to get in on the action either, if you’re a camera-shy buyer with deep pockets – there’s still a handful of properties available, ranging from a two-bedder at $US7.15 million to Penthouse A, a nearly 800-square-metre, five-bedroom proposition with a suitably exclusive $US55,000,000 price tag.
