The 8th century is the period from 701 to 800 in accordance with the Julian calendar in the Common Era. In the Middle East, the coast of North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula quickly come under Islamic Arab domination. The westward expansion of the Arab Empire was famously halted at the Siege of Constantinople by the Byzantine Empire and the Battle of Tours by the Franks. The tide of Arab conquest came to an end in the middle of the 8th century.
In Europe, late in the century, the Vikings, seafaring peoples from Scandinavia, begin raiding the coasts of Europe and the Mediterranean, and go on to found several important kingdoms.

The Indian Ocean is the third largest of the world's oceanic divisions, covering approximately 20% of the water on the Earth's surface. It is bounded by Asia on the north, on the west by Africa, on the east by Australia, and on the south by the Southern Ocean or, depending on definition, by Antarctica. It is named after India. The Indian Ocean is known as Ratnākara (Sanskrit: रत्नाकर), "the mine of gems", in ancient Sanskrit literature and as Hind Mahāsāgar (Devanāgarī: हिन्द महासागर) in Hindi.
The borders of the Indian Ocean, as delineated by the International Hydrographic Organization in 1953 included the Southern Ocean but not the marginal seas along the northern rim, but in 2000 the IHO delimited the Southern Ocean separately, which removed waters south of 60°S from the Indian Ocean, but included the northern marginal seas.Meridionally, the Indian Ocean is delimited from the Atlantic Ocean by the 20° east meridian, running south from Cape Agulhas, and from the Pacific Ocean by the meridian of 146°55'E, running south from the southernmost point of Tasmania. The northernmost extent of the Indian Ocean is approximately 30° north in the Persian Gulf.

The fall of Han Dynasty China brought about the end of the Indian Ocean trade routes for a while. Then the appearance of Islam in about 700 AD caused further disruption. But by 750 AD, the Arabs had begun to take over the Indian Ocean trade, and make money selling Chinese goods to Europe. This resulted in the spread of Islam — first by warfare to Persia (Iran) and Egypt, and then by trade of ideas and information to the coast of East Africa.
Several intriguing stone sculptures have been discovered in the graveyard of the parish church. No less than 30 of these large, intricately carved gravestones in two distinct styles. Who was buried here, by whom, and why. No copyright infringement has been intended by the uploading of this video; I am simply trying to share this amazingly interesting series.

In the beginning
There was no light
No teenage heaven or hell
No songs or voices came from across the outlands
Where oceans are meant to be -- where oceans are meant to be
Oh my God, I feel so alone -- some million lightyears far from home
HOW ABOUT YOU LIVING IN THE 20TH CENTURY
You can halt your car to get your tickets to the starlite skies, you know...
Ev'rybody wants to come home (what a dream)
So, if you don't mind,
Will you join me?
On my way through the eye
up to the light
