We would like to invite you to come and join us for a reunion of old and new friends in the area.  We have been working hard all summer to make this space comfortable and safe for you to come in and join us in celebrating opening this beautiful space for all  of us to enjoy.  We have completed most of the major work and as we are few it has taken us a little longer than we expected and we haven’t finished yet.  We would like you to come and see what we have achieved so far.  Tell us what you think….what you would like to do and see here….would you like to organise a workshop or event ????

In the pipeline we are planning :-

Sewing club, to start very soon,

Sunday matinee, (featuring some classic trilogies),

England rugby matches (7am kick off…..egg and bacon sarnies and tea and coffee), ( more matches shown if popular)

Pottery classes,

Saturday maths  classes ????

Boxing/kick boxing club  ?????

Art/ Wood carving/ leather work/ and lots more ……..

So far the bike workshop is a great success…. it is free, but we do not have funding so if you have any spare bike parts or other bits to donate we will be very grateful and able to fix more things quicker…..keep the energy flowing

The cinema got off to a rather shaky start with the projector not playing the game….but we managed to get by and have a good laugh….. after lending another projector from our lovely friend we have hosted another couple of nights that we have enjoyed ….but you guys still seem shy to come and share with us ….you are all welcome and now that we have redecorated the bigger room we have an all new almost full size cinema screen for your delight…free popcorn ….comfortable chairs,  sofas, futons, matresses etc….

The drum-club got off to a good start with some lovely new friends coming to play and enjoy….bring a drum and have some fun…..

Juggling-club has yet to get off the ground….but I’m sure we’ll soon be off to a flying start….

We would really appreciate offers of any materials, equipment, tools or furniture that you no longer have a use for.  Please see the wish list page for details of stuff we especially need but do contact us if you have anything at all that you think may be useful.

We would also be delighted to hear from anyone who has a few hours to spare to help us or who can offer skills, facilities or support.  We also have a big room clearance job on the weekend of 3-4th September and would be grateful for any help you can offer us; check the help page for details.

We are few but our vision is huge!

We are hosting a reunion for past users of St. Joseph’s Community Centre, their friends and family and those who have moved into the area more recently and would like to get together with their local community.

Saturday September 10th from 4 pm ’til late – come whenever you like.

Do you recognise yourself and your friends from the photograph hall of fame? Come round and make it like old times again!

Refreshments will be available

Thank you all very much for your support!

The fightback continues.

The court case on Thursday went quite well – they accepted our defense and want to call witnesses so we have an adjournment. Support is building both in the community and across our wider network.

The downside is that they are going for court costs so we are getting legal advice and setting up a support fund – if anyone can help with fundraising, benefits, or anything at all , we would be very grateful.

Help us keep up the pressure!
