Castle Teen Volunteer Program

Program Overview

The Smithsonian Castle welcomes over one million visitors per year; many of whom are eager to learn the story of how it all began. Teen volunteers facilitate interactive group experiences by leading visitors on a 45 minute virtual adventure throughout the Castle. This is a great summer opportunity for teens who have an interest in history, gaming, theater, and story-telling.

Requirements:

The Castle Teen Volunteer Program is open to individuals who are dynamic, tech-savvy, team leaders, who can effectively communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds. Other requirements include:

  • Completion of federal background check through the Smithsonian’s Office of Protection Services
  • Completion of all training requirements including pre-training reading assignments, in-person training sessions held, among other requirements
  • Ability to commit to a regular schedule of one day a week for 8-12 weeks, during the summer months
