Yeronga is one of Brisbane’s best suburbs, bordering the Brisbane River, it’s a tightly held enclave of prestige properties where many of Brisbane’s rich and famous retreat to.

There’s the odd unit block here and there but the most prominent homes are the architectural masterpieces that line the south-western bank of the Brisbane River.

The suburb is also close to hospitals, the city and has terrific links to the University of Queensland St Lucia campus via the Eleanor Schonell Bridge, adding to the popularity of the postcode.

Agents: Judi O’Dea and Michael Kleimeyer, Space Paddington

5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 car parks

At just four years old, this home is one of the most modern and striking homes on this list.

Space Property’s Judi O’Dea described 71 Ormadale Road as “uncompromising”. The five bedroom home was designed to be a family home but still stands out from the pack, she said.

“The brief was to make sure that they could see the beautiful view of the river from as many areas of the house as possible,” she said. “I think they achieved great things with this build.”

Feedback from prospective buyer was that the home had brilliant artistic flair, Ms O’Dea said.

Multi-million dollar mansions aren’t the only thing on offer in Yeronga. Away from the river and closer to Moorooka and Annerley, there’s plenty of blocks of units and townhouses.

McGrath agent Kristy Noble was selling a unit in School Road, which is easily priced within a first-home buyer’s price range.

Ms Noble said buyers may not expect that there are affordable options, just a few hundred metres from some of Brisbane’s most expensive homes.

“It’s well known for the really big houses, but it’s a mix, actually,” she said.

Another property marketed by Kristy Noble, this riverfront property at 37 Ormadale Road is older than number 71 but the four-bedroom home has a killer feature.
