New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.
Far Rockaway is a neighborhood on the Rockaway Peninsula in the New York City borough of Queens in the United States. It is the easternmost section of the Rockaways. The neighborhood starts at the Nassau County line and extends west to Beach 32nd Street. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 14.
The name "Rockaway" may have meant "place of sands" in the Munsee language of the Native American Lenape. Other spellings include Requarkie, Rechouwakie, Rechaweygh, Rechquaakie and Reckowacky.
In September 1609, Henry Hudson and his crew were the first Europeans to see the Rockaways and Jamaica Bay. Hudson was attempting to go to the Northwest Passage. On September 11, Hudson sailed into the Upper New York Bay, and the following day began a journey up the modern-day Hudson River.
Rockaway was, back then, inhabited by Canarsie Indians. The name Reckowacky, which is also spelled Requarkie, Rechouwakie, Rechaweygh, or Rechquaakie, was to distinguish the Rockaway village from other Mohawk Nation villages; "Reckowacky" means "lonely place", or "place of waters bright". By 1639, the Mohegan tribe sold most of the Rockaways to the Dutch West India Company. In 1664, the English got the land from the Dutch. In 1685, the tribal chieftain, Chief Tackapoucha, and the English governor agreed to sell the Rockaways to one Captain Palmer for 31 pounds sterling.

York (i/ˈjɔːrk/) is a historic walled city at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England, and is the traditional county town of Yorkshire to which it gives its name. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events in England throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city offers a wealth of historic attractions, of which York Minster is the most prominent, and a variety of cultural and sporting activities making it a popular tourist destination for millions.
The city was founded by the Romans as Eboracum in 71 AD. It became the capital of the Roman province of Britannia Inferior, and later of the kingdoms of Northumbria and Jórvík. In the Middle Ages, York grew as a major wool trading centre and became the capital of the northern ecclesiastical province of the Church of England, a role it has retained.
In the 19th century, York became a hub of the railway network and a confectionery manufacturing centre. In recent decades, the economy of York has moved from being dominated by its confectionery and railway-related industries to one that provides services. The University of York and health services have become major employers, whilst tourism has become an important element of the local economy.

Taken on Monday, December 19, 2016 during the morning rush. This is a front window view of an R32 train operating on the entire 32 mile-length long (A) line all the way from 207th Street in Inwood of Manhattan, through central Brooklyn, to Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway of Queens. It seems there are timers installed approaching North Conduit Avenue and Howard Beach-JFK Airport respectively on the Rockaway Peninsula-bound side. Unsure if this is just a temporary speed restriction due to fallen leaves on the tracks or are likely permanent. Anyway, shortly after crossing the North Channel Drawbridge, the train operator had to slow down through the flagging area and eventually pick up some track/signal workers. I'm actually glad I caught this train at Jay Street-MetroTech when my original intent...

Vacation travel video about destination New York City in New York. New York continues to be one of the world’s most famous cities, a true world metropolis and major symbol of the American Dream. Manhattan Island is the city’s most well known district and the Rockefeller Center in Midtown is often referred to as the heart of the New York. Nearby the Roman Catholic Saint Patrick´s Cathedral is the largest and most magnificent church in the United States. The Grand Central Terminal divides Park Avenue and is a huge station with which the railroad kings, the Venderbilts, left an indelible mark. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. Sunday, August 23rd, 2015. Return trip from the earlier video. Drove from Far Rockway's by Jacob Riis Beach, back to Long Island City. Little traffic, smooth drive, uneventful.
Taken on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 during the morning rush. This is the front window view of the R32 (A) train traveling on the northbound direction from Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway of Queens to Canal Street in SoHo of Manhattan. One or two trainsets of R32s are regularly assigned to the (A) line, in part, because of the overall subway rolling stock being shuffled around here and there for the sake of the (W)'s restoration back in early November 2016.
Note: I forgot to put "on the Rockaway line" on the title on this video! And Sorry about a lot of shaking in this video. It's so windy outside and the ferry is bumpy because of the waves of the sea oceans! And you may want to turn down your volume because of Many wind sounds in this video. And this was taken on 5/1/17. So it's the new ferry that opened in New York. It's called the "Rockaway" Ferry. So enjoy the video! The End!
Sunday, August 23rd, 2015 - Drove from Long Island City in Queens, New York to Jacob Riis Beach in the Far Rockway's. Total trip time was about an hour.

The ideas are getting better and better, so shout out to Exploratorium Inn Official for this one! I couldn't resist, since I'd never been on the Z before because the Z train is so hard to catch! Not only that, the Z train we caught was a J train when it first pulled into Broadway Junction! It changed to a Z train when it got there! So cool! What an adventure!
I hear the train all night
Sound of its wind blowing through our subtle lives
And I have a job to do walking these cars
Walking all asleep to get to you
But I don't feel your stir beside me
And your not in my morning hour
Some ties are made to break
Some stalks grow high and green to run away
And feel the wake
And these lines tell the truth
These city veins answer all you do
So could you keep me in the pulses
Could you keep me in the sound
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you know
Maybe you bet on me
While we were still young enough to know
Or to believe
For every year you took
For every soft breathe or loving look
Believe me
And don't keep me like you have me
And don't kiss me like you don't
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
Some land holds a home
Some of my years only hold me to Rome
But I tell myself its true
You see a home you see a man
You see it too
And I say don't you know you have her
Go on kiss her now you boy
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
So don't you now
I got wise and I got old
Not once, not once did I fall
