Esquire (British English: /ɪˈskwaɪə/; American English: /ˈɛsˌkwaɪr/, /ɛˈskwaɪr/ or /ɪˈskwaɪr/; abbreviated Esq.) is usually a courtesy title. Esquire is similar to the word squire, which in medieval times meant an apprentice to a knight.
In the United Kingdom, Esquire historically was a title of respect accorded to men of higher social rank, below the rank of knight and above the rank of gentleman. It later came to be used as a general courtesy title for any man in a formal setting, usually as a suffix to his name, as in "John Smith, Esq.", with no precise significance. In certain formal contexts, it remains an indication of a social status that is recognised in the formal Order of Precedence.
In the United States, Esquire is mostly used to denote a lawyer; in a departure from traditional use, it is used irrespective of gender, and women lawyers use the title as well as men. In letters, a lawyer is customarily addressed by adding the suffix Esquire (abbreviated Esq.), preceded by a comma, after the lawyer's full name.

The culture of the United States is primarily Western, but is influenced by African, Native American, Asian, Polynesian, and Latin American cultures. A strand of what may be described as American culture started its formation over 10,000 years ago with the migration of Paleo-Indians from Asia, Oceania, and Europe, into the region that is today the continental United States. The United States of America has its own unique social and cultural characteristics such as dialect, music, arts, social habits, cuisine, and folklore. The United States of America is an ethnically and racially diverse country as a result of large-scale migration from many ethnically and racially different countries throughout its history. Differing birth and death rates among natives, settlers, and immigrants are also a factor.
Its chief early European influences came from English settlers of colonial America during British rule. Due to colonial ties with Britain that spread the English language, British culture, legal system and other cultural inheritances, had a formative influence. Other important influences came from other parts of Europe, especially Germany.

Another one of my all-time favorite albums. Esquire is fronted by singer song-writer, Nikki Squire (former wife of Yes's Chris Squire) and this album featured a "who's who" of prog-rock alum (Chris Squire, Alan White, Pat Thrall, Steve Topping, Jamie Lane, Nigel McLaren and Charles Olins). Even Trevor Horn (The Buggles, Yes) had a hand in some of the album's mixing. No doubt this album has an 80's Yes vibe but still unique enough to stand on it's own. Every track is solid (no fillers) and only wish the follow up album (Coming Home) could have captured more of the same magic the debut did. As a bonus I did include three of my favorite tracks from the "Coming Home" album at the end of this video. Nikki Squire is working on some new music and new tracks can be found on her MySpace page lin...

do what you want just go home.
i'd take advice coming from anyone but you.
don't see how you could say that shit.
no matter what things will always stay the same.
i can't think clear with you by my side.
you make me disturbed and i act all uptight.
i think i could do without the stress,
so why are you here?
i think you pry too much.
i think you hear what your ears are not to hear.
