American Federation of Television and Radio Artists
The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) was a performers' union that represented a wide variety of talent, including actors in radio and television, radio and television announcers and newspersons, singers and recording artists (both royalty artists and background singers), promo and voice-over announcers and other performers in commercials, stunt persons and specialty acts—as the organization itself publicly stated, "AFTRA's membership includes an array of talent". On March 30, 2012, it was announced that the members of AFTRA and of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) had voted to merge and form SAG-AFTRA.
AFTRA was located at 5757 Wilshire Blvd, 7th Floor, Los Angeles, California. There were also offices in New York City, Chicago, and several other American cities. The federation as a whole had 804 employees and total assets worth $30,403,661.00. AFTRA worked in the interests of its members, primarily in the areas of contract negotiation and enforcement, advocacy (including lobbying, legislation and public policy issues) and member benefits such as employer-paid health plans. AFTRA was affiliated with the AFL-CIO, the International Federation of Journalists and the International Federation of Actors. AFTRA also shared jurisdiction of radio, television, Internet and other new media with its sister union SAG, whilst the latter was the body solely responsible for motion picture performances.

President
A president is the leader of a country or a division or part of a country, typically a republic, a democracy, or a dictatorship. The title "president" is sometimes used by extension for leaders of other groups, including corporate entities.
Etymologically, a president is one who presides (from Latin prae- "before" + sedere "to sit"; giving the term praeses). Originally, the term referred to the presiding officer of a ceremony or meeting (i.e., chairman), but today it most commonly refers to an executive official. Among other things, "President" today is a common title for the heads of state of most republics, whether presidential republics, semi-presidential republics or parliamentary republics.
Title
The title President is derived from the Latin prae- "before" + sedere "to sit." As such, it originally designated the officer who presides over or "sits before" a gathering and ensures that debate is conducted according to the rules of order (see also chairman and speaker). Early examples are from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge (from 1464) and the founding President of the Royal Society William Brouncker in 1660. This usage survives today in the title of such offices as "President of the Board of Trade" and "Lord President of the Council" in the United Kingdom, as well as "President of the Senate" (one of the roles constitutionally assigned to the Vice-President of the United States). The officiating priest at certain Anglican religious services, too, is sometimes called the "President" in this sense. However the most common modern usage is as the title of a head of state in a republic.

Academy Awards
The Academy Awards, or "Oscars", is an annual American awards ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognise excellence in cinematic achievements in the film industry as assessed by the Academy's voting membership. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially called the Academy Award of Merit, which has become commonly known by its nickname "Oscar". The awards, first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are overseen by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
The awards ceremony was first broadcast to radio in 1930 and televised in 1953. It is now seen live in more than 200 countries and can be streamed live online. The Oscars is the oldest entertainment awards ceremony; its equivalents, the Emmy Awards for television, the Tony Awards for theatre, and the Grammy Awards for music and recording, are modeled after the Academy Awards.
88th Academy Awards
The 88th Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre on February 28, 2016 and hosted by Chris Rock. A total of 2,947 Oscars have been awarded since the inception of the award through the 87th. The 88th awards ceremony has become the target of a potential boycott, based on critics' perception that its all-white acting nominee list reflects bias. In response, the Academy has initiated "historic" changes in membership by the year 2020.

Interestingly, the "Balls" sessions were actually the first studio recordings commissioned specifically by FMP for release, as Manfred Schoof's "European Echoes" (FMP0010) initially circulated as a live tape that ended up christening the label as its debut. In short, "Balls" has it all: Peter Broetzmann's blistering tenor squal, Han Bennink's limitless world of sound, and Fred Van Hove's ceaselessly inventive keys created unquestionably one of the definitive jazz recordings of the 1970's.

Da uno dei testi più interessanti del teatro italiano, opera dello scrittore Paolo Levi (Genova 20 luglio 1919 - Roma 1989) specialista in gialli nonché sceneggiatore per il cinema (Nudo di donna, 7 donne per i MacGregor, etc.) e per la televisione (L'isola del tesoro, Ritratto di donna velata, La gatta, etc.), una difficile trasposizione televisiva che parte da un fatto banale per continuare in maniera tragica. Il processo giudiziario che ne scaturirà si trasforma in un processo morale, che non investe soltanto una persona o l'atto criminoso del quale si discute, ma tutte le persone che il caso coinvolge e la società che ha reso possibile il concatenarsi di questi casi. E' una società nella quale tutti considerano la persona umana come un mezzo e non come un fine, una società dove l'azione dell'individuo viene giudicata e adoperata per scopi che non hanno niente a che fare con l'individuo. Il processo di Levi arriva a un fondo di pessimismo ancora più accentuato, perchè facendo luce anche nel profondo dell'anima individuale e prima di tutto in quella del protagonista, si scopre che c'è soltanto egoismo e indifferenza per quello che ci accade intorno. Allora si affaccia il dubbio che il male non sia tanto nella volontà di compierlo, ma nella inconsapevolezza di averlo compiuto e che il vero male, quello in cui siamo così affondati da non saperlo più riconoscere, sia il danno che arrechiamo inconsciamente ai nostri simili, procedendo sicuri e tranquilli per la nostra strada senza guardarci intorno. Questa è la semplice e quasi elementare parabola che Levi ci racconta dietro a piccole pieghe drammatiche e sospensive del classico caso giudiziario. Oltre ad Aroldo Tieri, tra gli interpreti (quasi tutti impegnati in sentite recitazioni) da segnalare l'ottima prova di Franco Mezzera come avvocato mentre un giovane Maurizio Merli passa quasi inosservato nel ruolo di un giornalista. Il caso Pinedus (che era già stato trasmesso dalla TV tedesca il 9 ottobre 1959 con la regia di Theodor Grädler: Der Fall Pinedus, e da quella inglese il 2 dicembre 1962 con una versione adattata e diretta da Lewis Greifer: The Pinedus Affair), venne messo in onda il 13 ottobre 1972 sul Secondo Programma della Rai con la regia di Maurizio Scaparro.

All'inizio del video viene fornita una sinossi molto esaustiva della vicenda.
Il giornalista Peter Pinedus, critico musicale, mentre a notte fonda sta per rientrare a casa dalla redazione del giornale per cui lavora, come usualmente accade, viene fermato da un poliziotto che gli contesta una contravvenzione perché la sua auto era parcheggiata irregolarmente. Pinedus si rifiuta di pagare la multa, e per questo motivo viene portato alla stazione di polizia, dove é inaspettatamente trattenuto in stato di fermo dal commissario. Tutto ciò in un primo momento ha l'aria di essere soltanto un ridicolo incubo, ma Pinedus dopo essere entrato in prigione con la spavalda convinzione di dover essere rilasciato al più presto, qualche tempo più tardi invece si trasformerà in un essere apatico e rassegnato all'idea che il ritorno alla libertà è rimandato per lui ormai a tempo indefinito. Il commissario infatti è lo zio di una giovane cantante che aveva avuto la carriera stroncata a causa della critica impietosa di Pinedus, e caduta in depressione, dopo alcuni mesi si era suicidata. Il giornalista è accusato di avere ucciso a coltellate una ragazza, omicidio avvenuto mesi addietro alla stessa ora nella quale lui esce di solito dalla redazione e nei pressi del luogo dove abitualmente lascia la macchina parcheggiata. Mentre seguiamo la progressiva trafila dell'imputato, a un certo punto ci accorgiamo che non siamo più davanti a una storia poliziesca o giudiziaria. Quello che conta cioè non è più sapere se il protagonista verrà condannato oppure assolto, ma piuttosto capire per quali ragioni abbia potuto prodursi un caso così incredibile e così singolare.

Lucania, documentario storico: Sud e magia 1978
Sud e magia. In ricordo di Ernesto De Martino
Un programma in quattro puntate di Claudio Barbati, Giancarlo Mingozzi e Annabella Rossi che ritornano sui luoghi consacrati in ricerche esemplari come "Morte e pianto rituale nel mondo antico", "Sud e magia" e "La terra del rimorso", edite tra il 1958 e il 1962. Come dichiarato da Barbati al RadioCorriereTv, l'intento del programma era porre in evidenza come, "tra vecchio e nuovo, tra cultura contadina e modelli imposti dall'alto, tra credenze arcaiche e disincanti recenti, il mondo magico resiste, magari venendo a patti con la società dei consumi, ma più spesso mettendo nuove radici proprio nel suo vuoto e nei suoi squilibri".
Dopo i documentari che, dalla fine degli anni '50, avevano realizzato registi e documentaristi accomunati dalla sensibilità per il mondo popolare svelato dalle ricerche di De Martino, come Luigi Di Gianni, Cecilia Mangini e lo stesso Mingozzi, con Sud e magia si realizzava così "il viaggio più lungo e approfondito sui luoghi demartiniani", a oltre vent'anni dalle ricerche di De Martino e a dodici anni dalla sua morte.
Con interviste ad alcuni dei protagonisti e testimoni, come in primo luogo la moglie Vittoria De Palma, e con l'ausilio di fotografie e filmati del tempo, si descrivono contesti, presupposti ed obiettivi di quelle ricerche che segnarono uno spartiacque decisivo nell'antropologia contemporanea ma, allo stesso tempo, ampliando l'ambito di indagine, si offrono materiali inediti di grande interesse storico e culturale.
La voce di una donna dal cimitero di Bella (un paesino montano della Lucania, che già Luigi Di Gianni, nel 1959, aveva ritratto in Nascita e morte nel meridione). L'anziana è Zia Teresa di ottantasette anni, vedova dal 1956, che piange il marito nella forma canonica del lamento funebre. Nell'intervista la donna racconta la fatica di vivere con sei figli tra fame, indifferenza e povertà, la stessa che le ha impedito di dare una sepoltura ai propri cari, sia pure in quel cimitero senza lapidi, sostituite da pietre incise con una croce e un numero.
La biografia di De Martino è ripercorsa attraverso immagini dall'infanzia alla maturità. Sul suo taccuino di lavoro, apparso con il titolo Note Lucane su "Società", non a caso De Martino scriveva: "Appunto per questo la mia collera è proprio la stessa di questi uomini che lottano per uscire dalle tenebre del quartiere rabatano e la mia lotta è proprio la loro lotta. Rendo grazie al quartiere Rabatano e ai suoi uomini per avermi aiutato a capire meglio me stesso ed il mio compito".
Il premio Viareggio, vinto dal ricercatore con Morte e pianto rituale nel mondo antico, conduce al tema della puntata che prosegue il viaggio alla scoperta delle forme popolari per esorcizzare il dolore.
Immagini e lamentazioni del giorno dei morti al cimitero di Pisticci servono così ad evidenziare come mediante il lamento funebre si tenda a trasformare il defunto in una figura benefica, al fine di esorcizzare il pensiero della morte.
In Basilicata si ricostruisce il campo etnografico sulla magia lucana, affrontato dal 1950 al 1957 e finanziato dalla Parapsychology Foundation di New York, i cui risulti su fascinazione, possessione e malattie magiche, confluirono in Sud e magia. L'etnologo e la sua équipe, composta dal medico Mario Pitzurra, lo psicanalista Emilio Servadio, i fotografi Franco Pinna, Aldo Gilardi e Andrè Martin, entrarono in contatto con i maciari e le maciare di Albano di Lucania. Il primo intervistato, però, riconosce in paese una mentalità più emancipata rispetto a quanto emerge dal ritratto demartiniano e diversi interlocutori si rivelano scettici riguardo ai risultati raggiunti dai ricercatori.
De Martino gira in Basilicata, in particolare ad Albano, Colobraro, Viggiano e Grottole. Tra questi zio Giuseppe di Albano, con il dono della preveggenza.

Sud e magia. In ricordo di Ernesto De Martino
Un programma in quattro puntate di Claudio Barbati, Giancarlo Mingozzi e Annabella Rossi che ritornano sui luoghi consacrati in ricerche esemplari come "Morte e pianto rituale nel mondo antico", "Sud e magia" e "La terra del rimorso", edite tra il 1958 e il 1962. Come dichiarato da Barbati al RadioCorriereTv, l'intento del programma era porre in evidenza come, "tra vecchio e nuovo, tra cultura contadina e modelli imposti dall'alto, tra credenze arcaiche e disincanti recenti, il mondo magico resiste, magari venendo a patti con la società dei consumi, ma più spesso mettendo nuove radici proprio nel suo vuoto e nei suoi squilibri".
Dopo i documentari che, dalla fine degli anni '50, avevano realizzato registi e documentaristi accomunati dalla sensibilità per il mondo popolare svelato dalle ricerche di De Martino, come Luigi Di Gianni, Cecilia Mangini e lo stesso Mingozzi, con Sud e magia si realizzava così "il viaggio più lungo e approfondito sui luoghi demartiniani", a oltre vent'anni dalle ricerche di De Martino e a dodici anni dalla sua morte.
Con interviste ad alcuni dei protagonisti e testimoni, come in primo luogo la moglie Vittoria De Palma, e con l'ausilio di fotografie e filmati del tempo, si descrivono contesti, presupposti ed obiettivi di quelle ricerche che segnarono uno spartiacque decisivo nell'antropologia contemporanea ma, allo stesso tempo, ampliando l'ambito di indagine, si offrono materiali inediti di grande interesse storico e culturale.
La voce di una donna dal cimitero di Bella (un paesino montano della Lucania, che già Luigi Di Gianni, nel 1959, aveva ritratto in Nascita e morte nel meridione). L'anziana è Zia Teresa di ottantasette anni, vedova dal 1956, che piange il marito nella forma canonica del lamento funebre. Nell'intervista la donna racconta la fatica di vivere con sei figli tra fame, indifferenza e povertà, la stessa che le ha impedito di dare una sepoltura ai propri cari, sia pure in quel cimitero senza lapidi, sostituite da pietre incise con una croce e un numero.
La biografia di De Martino è ripercorsa attraverso immagini dall'infanzia alla maturità. Era il lontano 2002. Le sale aspettavano l'arrivo dello Spider-Man di Sam Raimi, ed io, da piccolo marvel minchia, sbavavo nell'attesa. Il primo film dell'Uomo Ragno! IL PRIMO FILM DELL'UOMO RAGNO!!! L'Uomo Ragno che mi faceva svegliare ogni domenica mattina per vedere Spider-Man TAS. L'uomo Ragno che a 5-6 anni, in estate, era il tormento di mia madre (ad una certa ora bisognava tornare a casa da mare; in tv c'era L'Uomo Ragno E I Suoi Fantastici Amici). Finalmente arrivò il Film... vederlo volteggiare...il costume...Goblin...che dire...entusiasmante! Uscì dal cinema talmente elettrizzato da non riuscire a star fermo. .ed incuriosito. I cartoni erano uguali al fumetto? Liceale o universitario? Quando era nato? Chi l'aveva creato? Quale la sua prima apparizione...il numero 1 dell'Uomo Ragno? Forse è vero che chi cerca trova...o forse l'edicola a 2 m di casa (dato il successone del film) aveva deciso di cominciare a vendere gli albi della Panini Comics. Acquistai il numero 71 (323) della nuova serie.; Peter non era più uno studente, non faceva più il fotografo, era un insegnante, Mary jane l'aveva lasciato ed un ricco indistriale dal nome biblico (Ezekiel) coi suoi stessi poteri sembrava sapere molto più dello stesso Peter...
..."Sono state forse le radiazioni a permettere al ragno di passarti i suoi poteri? O il ragno stava cercando di passarteli prima che le radiazioni lo uccidessero?"...
Non basta saper dir "Da Un Grande Potere Derivano Grandi Responsabilità" per conoscere L'uomo Ragno. Mi trasformai in speleologo di mercatini, costruendo pezzo dopo pezzo il passato dell'uomo ragno (e ben presto dell'universo Marvel). Un bel giorno trovai ad una mostra la locandina di "Spider-Man Strikes Back" (con la grafica di oggi un'oscenità è dir poco)!
Già. Mentre Lou Ferrigno si dava al body painting e distruggeva palazzi di polistirolo, una "audace" produzione a basso costo girava per un serial tv il primo film di Spider-Man (Ben 3 film prima della trilogia di Raimi. C'è anche un corto del 1969 recensito ultimamente da Yotobi e iltizioqualunque. Andate a vederlo. Mi hanno fatto morir dal ridere). Dopo numerose ricerche, vi propongo, per festeggiare l'uscita nelle sale di The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man Live Action 1977!

Questo misterioso e tanto affascinante film fu proiettato per la prima volta all'Hindley Cinema Complex di Adelaide l'8 agosto 1975. È stato uno dei primi film australiani a ottenere visibilità internazionale e un certo successo commerciale. Fruttò la fama mondiale al regista Peter Weir, artefice negli anni seguenti di altre pellicole di notevole successo come Witness e L'attimo fuggente.
La storia scritta dalla Lindsay è completamente d'invenzione, anche se alcune frasi tratte da interviste con la scrittrice hanno lasciato credere che vi sia qualche riferimento ad alcuni fatti di cronaca. Il film di Peter Weir è fedele nello svolgimento della storia e nell'atmosfera del romanzo, anche se alcune parti sono state omesse o ridotte (per esempio la vicenda di Albert e della sorella Sarah, la morte della signorina Lumley).
TRAMA:
Il giorno di San Valentino dell'anno 1900 un gruppo di studentesse dell'aristocratico collegio Appleyard, a una cinquantina di chilometri da Melbourne in Australia, si recano per l’annuale picnic ai piedi del gruppo roccioso dell'Hanging Rock, sotto la sorveglianza dell’insegnante di francese, Mlle de Poitiers, e di quella di matematica, Miss McCraw.
Nel pomeriggio quattro di loro ottengono il permesso di allontanarsi per esaminare più da vicino le formazioni rocciose. Guidate da Miranda, la ragazza più ammirata e seguita del collegio, Marion, la ricca ereditiera Irma, e la più giovane Edith si incamminano per quella che dovrebbe essere una breve ascensione sulla rocca, passando davanti al giovane Michael Fitzhubert, nobile inglese che si trova in vacanza presso parenti, e sta facendo a sua volta una scampagnata con il domestico Albert.
Edith, dalla corporatura robusta, si pente quasi subito di avere seguito le compagne in questa avventura fuori programma. Affaticate dalla salita, le quattro fanciulle si sdraiano a riposare in una sella di roccia; al risveglio, Miranda leva scarpe e calze e si incammina per continuare l’ascensione, seguita da Marion. Interdetta, Edith fa appello a Irma, che però segue a sua volta le compagne. A questo punto Edith torna indietro in evidente stato di shock gettando grida isteriche. Nello stesso momento il resto del gruppo si accorge che l'insegnante di matematica, Greta McCraw, è scomparsa.
Il cocchiere riporta le ragazze e Mlle Poitiers al collegio, si dà l’allarme. Iniziano immediatamente le ricerche di polizia sulla rocca, senza trovare la minima traccia. Edith, interrogata, non conserva memoria dell'accaduto, tranne il fatto di avere incrociato, durante la sua fuga, l’insegnante di matematica che saliva a sua volta, incomprensibilmente senza gonna.
Nel frattempo Michael Fitzhubert, ossessionato dal ricordo della bellezza di Miranda scorta per un momento all’inizio della tragica ascensione, si avvia in segreto alla rocca con la complicità del domestico Albert. Pretende di rimanere la notte da solo sulla Hanging Rock. Il mattino dopo Albert, preoccupato dell'assenza del ragazzo, torna e lo trova ferito e in stato di shock. Chiama soccorsi, e Michael dal carro ambulanza gli consegna in segreto un ritaglio di stoffa orlato di pizzo.
Albert intuisce che l’amico ha trovato qualcosa sulla rocca. Torna di corsa e trova Irma, svenuta, ferita, con le unghie spezzate e i piedi misteriosamente puliti, nonostante siano passati ben otto giorni dalla sua scomparsa. Anche la ragazza, però, non ricorda nulla dell'accaduto.
Recuperate le forze ma non la memoria, Irma viene ritirata dal collegio. Passata a salutare per l’ultima volta le compagne, viene aggredita dalle ragazze isteriche, convinte che lei conosca il segreto della scomparsa di Miranda e delle altre ma non voglia rivelarlo.

Il giorno di San Valentino dell'anno 1900 un gruppo di studentesse dell'aristocratico collegio Appleyard, a una cinquantina di chilometri da Melbourne in Australia, si recano per l’annuale picnic ai piedi del gruppo roccioso dell'Hanging Rock, sotto la sorveglianza dell’insegnante di francese, Mlle de Poitiers, e di quella di matematica, Miss McCraw.
Nel pomeriggio quattro di loro ottengono il permesso di allontanarsi per esaminare più da vicino le formazioni rocciose. Guidate da Miranda, la ragazza più ammirata e seguita del collegio, Marion, la ricca ereditiera Irma, e la più giovane Edith si incamminano per quella che dovrebbe essere una breve ascensione sulla rocca, passando davanti al giovane Michael Fitzhubert, nobile inglese che si trova in vacanza presso parenti, e sta facendo a sua volta una scampagnata con il domestico Albert.
Edith, dalla corporatura robusta, si pente quasi subito di avere seguito le compagne in questa avventura fuori programma. Affaticate dalla salita, le quattro fanciulle si sdraiano a riposare in una sella di roccia; al risveglio, Miranda leva scarpe e calze e si incammina per continuare l’ascensione, seguita da Marion. Interdetta, Edith fa appello a Irma, che però segue a sua volta le compagne. A questo punto Edith torna indietro in evidente stato di shock gettando grida isteriche. Nello stesso momento il resto del gruppo si accorge che l'insegnante di matematica, Greta McCraw, è scomparsa.
Il cocchiere riporta le ragazze e Mlle Poitiers al collegio, si dà l’allarme. Iniziano immediatamente le ricerche di polizia sulla rocca, senza trovare la minima traccia. Edith, interrogata, non conserva memoria dell'accaduto, tranne il fatto di avere incrociato, durante la sua fuga, l’insegnante di matematica che saliva a sua volta, incomprensibilmente senza gonna.
Nel frattempo Michael Fitzhubert, ossessionato dal ricordo della bellezza di Miranda scorta per un momento all’inizio della tragica ascensione, si avvia in segreto alla rocca con la complicità del domestico Albert. Pretende di rimanere la notte da solo sulla Hanging Rock. Il mattino dopo Albert, preoccupato dell'assenza del ragazzo, torna e lo trova ferito e in stato di shock. Chiama soccorsi, e Michael dal carro ambulanza gli consegna in segreto un ritaglio di stoffa orlato di pizzo.
Albert intuisce che l’amico ha trovato qualcosa sulla rocca. Torna di corsa e trova Irma, svenuta, ferita, con le unghie spezzate e i piedi misteriosamente puliti, nonostante siano passati ben otto giorni dalla sua scomparsa. Anche la ragazza, però, non ricorda nulla dell'accaduto.
Recuperate le forze ma non la memoria, Irma viene ritirata dal collegio. Passata a salutare per l’ultima volta le compagne, viene aggredita dalle ragazze isteriche, convinte che lei conosca il segreto della scomparsa di Miranda e delle altre ma non voglia rivelarlo.

Anche la religione faceva parte della quotidianità degli antichi Egiziani, le cui divinità erano numerose e necessitavano di un gran numero di templi sparsi in tutto il paese e di un clero ancor più numeroso e ben organizzato. I papiri provenienti dalle biblioteche dei templi, le cariche sacerdotali e le molteplici testimonianze della religiosità popolare ci permettono di ricostruire questo "sistema", come testimoniano alcuni reperti del Museo.
