The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), formerly the United Nations Fund for Population Activities, is a UN organization. The UNFPA says it "promotes of the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity." This is done through major national and demographic surveys and with population censuses. The data generated are used to create programmes to reduce poverty and address issues concerning the rights of particular minority population groups. One of their aims is to ensure that "every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect". Their work involves the improvement of reproductive health; including creation of national strategies and protocols, and providing supplies and services to these minority groups, as well as internal migrants and refugees, the elderly and the handicapped. The organization has recently been known for its worldwide campaign against obstetric fistula and female genital mutilation.

Overview of UNFPA efforts to protect and empower the world's 1.8 bln. young people. Testimonies from 5 adolescent girls and brief overview of "Action for Adolescent Girls." Produced for UNFPA Executive Board meeting on 30 Jan. 2014.

Created by graphic design students; Kevin Lam, Lamson To, Esther Park, Daniel Choi, Crystal Kim, Lisa Chen, Il Chan Chun, and Hyunsun Yoo. This short, motion, PSA addresses the key points of the UNFPA, “We Are Youth” campaign; gender equality, child marriage and reproductive health. The piece was animated in a raw style and shows children literally erasing their nightmarish conditions and drawing a more positive environment for themselves.
A stop motion PSA for the United Nations Population Fund.
30 second PSA screened every minute during November 2013 in Times Square, New York, NY. Child marriage is a grave threat to the lives and prospects of young girls. It violates their rights, denies them of their childhood, disrupts their education, jeopardizes their health, and limits their opportunities. The campaign, Too Young to Wed, which launches on the first International Day of the Girl Child, calls attention to this egregious human rights violation. Beyond providing new data and co-sponsoring a high-level panel on this issue, UNFPA is working with governments and partners at all levels of society to deliver comprehensive programms addressing the needs of vulnerable and married girls.
