The Franklin Park Conservatory is a botanical garden and conservatory located in Columbus, Ohio. Originally built in 1895, the Conservatory is on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, it is a horticultural and educational institution showcasing exotic plant collections, special exhibitions, and Dale Chihuly artworks. The conservatory contains more than 400 plant species. Collections include: Himalayan Mountains, Tropical Rainforest, Desert, Succulent Patio, Bonsai Courtyard, Pacific Island Water Garden & Cloud Forest, Showhouse with orchid and tropical bonsai collections, and Palm House with more than 40 species of palms. The conservatory is set within Franklin Park, and surrounded by 90 acres of outdoor botanical gardens.
Big Bugs have landed at the Franklin Park Conservatory for summer! The ten enormous insect sculptures by artist David Rogers were created from found wood and other natural materials. The 25-foot-long ants near the entrance and an 18-foot praying mantis in the courtyard demonstrate that this exhibit was aptly named.

SUPPORTING ARTS AND CULTURE: Councilmember Jaiza Page, chair of the Recreation and Parks Committee, is sponsoring three ordinances to help improve the local cultural attractions. Ordinance 2195-2015 authorizes the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a $1,500,000 contract with Franklin Park Conservatory for the implementation of the Franklin Park Master Plan. The money will allow the Conservatory to build an 11,000 square foot education facility and shelter house. Ordinance 2211-2015 allows the City of Columbus to establish a purchase order with the Columbus Museum of Art in the amount of $1,500,000 for improvements to the Museum.
