On December 8th, 2004, a tragedy took place at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. Five people lost their lives including Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott, Erin Halk, Nathan Bray and Jeff Thompson. This is news from the day after. December 8th, 2014 marks the 10th anniversary. Ten years. I can't believe it. I originally was going to go to the show but I had switched to 2nd shift with Nationwide that evening, thus the reason I wasn't there. I remember getting calls from friends asking if I was alright and I had no idea what they were talking about until future explanation. I went home and turned on the news and was completely shocked what I was hearing and seeing. This is a venue that is twenty minutes from my house. This was a place where I have seen literally hundreds of bands. As with many o...

They say he was also wanted on suspicion of thefts of items from inside several motor vehicles. As an officer tried to remove him from the car, Weiner says Christian tried to drive off, dragging the officer. He says at one point the officer was hit by another vehicle in the same lot. "The officer fired his weapon, and struck the suspect, at that time both the suspect a...

http://www.gobeyondthebrochure.com/5-things-i-wish-i-knew-about-columbus-state-community-college-before-attending/ - I’ve lived in Columbus, Ohio for over 15 years. There are many things that I like about this city, one of the main things being the education system. Columbus Ohio has some of the best colleges in the nation, and they work very closely and if or when you choose to transfer from one to another, most or all of your credits will transfer. And while CSCC is not nearly as big and prestigious as OSU, it is still a great college. I graduated from Columbus State back in 2005 and while there are many things that I liked about the college, there are still some things that I wish I knew before attending. CSCC has a martial arts training program that I could have joined. I have always w...

What is the purpose and value of Art education in the 21st Century? Foley makes the case the Art’s critical value is to develop learners that think like Artists which means learners who are creative, curious, that seek questions, develop ideas, and play. For that to happen society will need to stop the pervasive, problematic and cliché messaging that implies that creativity is somehow defined as artistic skill. This shift in perception will give educators the courage to teach for creativity, by focusing on three critical habits that artist employ, 1. Comfort with Ambiguity, 2. Idea Generation, and 3. Transdisciplinary Research. This change can make way for Center’s for Creativity in our schools and museums where ideas are king and curiosity reigns. Cindy Meyers Foley is the Executive Ass...

Better keep your distance from this whale
Better keep your boat from going astray
Find yourself a partner and treat them well
Try to give them shelter night and day
'Cause here in the blue light
Far away from the fireside
Things can get twisted and crazy and crowded
You can't even feel right
So I dream of columbus
Every time the panic starts
I dream of columbus
With your maps and your beautiful charts
I dream of columbus
There's an ache in a traveling heart
See how the cormorant swoops and dives
Must be a thrill to go that deep
Down to the basement of this life
Down to where the mermaid gently sleeps
Not like here in the blue light
Far away from the fireside
Where things get twisted and
Haunted and crowded
You can't even feel right
So I dream of columbus
Every time the panic starts
I dream of columbus
With your maps and your beautiful charts
I dream of columbus
There's an ache in a traveling heart
As the tide must ebb and flow
I am dragged down under
I wait the livelong day
For an end to my hunger
So I dream of columbus
Every time the panic starts
I dream of columbus
With your maps and your beautiful charts
I dream of columbus
