Police dog Mako takes down man trying to escape in chase

WA Police have released chopper footage of police dog Mako taking down a man who was trying to flee from police in Perth's southeast on Saturday.

Police Sergeant Andrew Maher said about  11:10pm officers tried to stop a Holden Commodore on Forrest Road in Haynes.

The car drove off through Brookdale, Darling Downs and Oakford, ignoring police who had their emergency lights and sirens on.

Aerial footage of a pursuit through Perth's south east ends with the help of Police Dog Mako.

A stinger was deployed on Nicholson Road forcing the driver to flee on foot down Kargotich Road into a farm.

Police Dog Mako tracked the man and caught him as officers moved in.

A 24-year-old man from Gosnells has been charged with failing to stop when called upon, aggravated reckless rriving and no authority to drive.

The man will face Armadale Magistrates court at a later date.
