The Chicago Police Department (CPD), is the principal law enforcement agency of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States, under the jurisdiction of the Mayor of Chicago. It is the second largest non-federal law enforcement agency in the United States behind the New York City Police Department. It has about 12,244 sworn officers and over 1,925 other employees. Tracing its roots back to 1835, the Chicago Police Department is one of the oldest modern police forces in the world.
The Superintendent of Police leads the Chicago Police Department. Along with the assistance of the first deputy superintendent, the superintendent manages four bureaus, each commanded by a bureau chief.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel appointed Garry F. McCarthy, former director of the Newark, New Jersey, Police Department, as superintendent; this was approved by the city council on June 8, 2011. McCarthy was the highest paid city employee with an annual salary of $260,004. Prior to McCarthy's appointment, Jody P. Weis was sworn in as superintendent of police on February 1, 2008. At the time, Weis was the second Chicago police superintendent hired from outside of the city. He replaced Philip J. Cline, who officially retired on August 3, 2007. Weis' contract expired on March 1, 2011. Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed Cline's predecessor, Terry Hillard, on an interim basis. McCarthy was forced to resign at the request of Mayor Emanuel on December 1, 2015 over the city's high murder rate and his department's handling of the shooting of Laquan McDonald. The mayor appointed Bureau of Detectives Chief John J. Escalante as interim superintendent.

Halstead is a town and civil parish located in Braintree District of Essex in England. It has a population of 11,906.
The town is near Colchester and Sudbury, in the Colne Valley. The town originally developed on the hill to the north of the river. The name Halstead is said to have derived from the Old English hald (refuge, shelter, healthy) and stede (site, place or farm), meaning 'healthy farm' 'safe place' or 'place of refuge'.
The wide High Street is dominated by the 14th-century church of St Andrew, which was extensively renovated during the Victorian period but retains much earlier decoration including tomb monuments dating from the 14th century and earlier.
The historic core of Halstead can be observed on a walk up the market hill. A river walk runs through the town from east to west, and just outside the town is Broaks Wood, a popular area for walking owned by the Forestry Commission. Halstead Public Gardens were established in 1900 and is noted for its floral displays. The Townsford Mill that spans the river at the bottom of the town houses the Antiques Centre, with thousands of interesting pieces ranging from clothing to household items. Halstead has a library situated in a large open-plan building that was built as the Corn Exchange (1864-1866) but has also housed a technical school.
Chicago (i/ʃᵻˈkɑːɡoʊ/ or /ʃᵻˈkɔːɡoʊ/) is the third most populous city in the United States. With over 2.7 million residents, it is the most populous city in the state of Illinois and the Midwest. The Chicago metropolitan area, often referred to as Chicagoland, has nearly 10 million people and is the third-largest in the U.S. Chicago is the seat of Cook County.
Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837, near a portage between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watershed, and grew rapidly in the mid-nineteenth century. The city is an international hub for finance, commerce, industry, technology, telecommunications, and transportation: O'Hare International Airport is the busiest airport in the world when measured by aircraft traffic; it also has the largest number of U.S. highways and rail road freight. In 2012, Chicago was listed as an alpha global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, and ranked seventh in the world in the 2014 Global Cities Index. As of 2014, Chicago had the third largest gross metropolitan product in the United States at US$610.5 billion.
Erin Lindsay is a fictional character in NBC's Chicago TV franchise, as a lead character in Chicago P.D. and a recurring character in Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. Portrayed by Sophia Bush, she is a detective in the Intelligence Unit of the Chicago Police Department.
Lindsay was born on April 11-12, 1985, and celebrated her 30th birthday during the events of the Intelligence/Special Victims Unit joint operation to apprehend a serial rapist, killer, and arsonist (portrayed by Dallas Roberts).
Little is known about Lindsay's early childhood except that her biological father, who is in prison, abused her and her mother Bunny was a drug addict. She has a half-brother, Teddy Courtney, who was taken by a pedophilia ring at age 13 and was found by NYPD detectives ten years later working as a male prostitute.
Lindsay grew up on the street and by the age of 14, she had already been arrested 5 times on charges including misdemeanor, simple battery, retail theft, solicitation, and unlawful possession of cannabis. At some point in her early teens, she became then-Detective Hank Voight's CI. Later, Voight took her in and raised her like a daughter. When she was 16, Voight had her enrolled in St. Ignatius College Prep for a new start, however the girls at the school quickly found out about her past. St. Ignatius made a deal with Voight that if Erin was in a fight, she would be expelled. Erin opted to tolerate the bullying instead of disappointing Voight. Because of this, she is closer with Voight than the other members of the unit.
This is a list of fictional characters in the television series Chicago P.D.. The article deals with the series' main, recurring, and minor characters.
Detective Jay Halstead previously appeared on Chicago Fire as an undercover cop assigned to take down a local mobster-cum-thug. He requests a transfer to the Intelligence Unit after the assignment ended with him getting shot but successfully arresting the mobster. Chicago P.D. begins a month following his transfer.
Halstead is the brother of Will, who is a former plastic surgeon, now ER resident (he changed specialties) and a main character in Chicago Med. Jay had stated that he had "no beneficiaries" and did not speak of any family members, implying that he had no one or was estranged from them. It was eventually revealed with the introduction of his brother that their mother had died of an undisclosed illness. They are said to be estranged from their father; Jay had not spoken to him for "a year...probably two" while Will, although still maintaining contact with him, refers to him as "the old man" and chose to move in with Jay rather than their childhood home. Will had moved to New York City for medical school and was overseas doing humanitarian work in Sudan but hit a rough patch when his relationship with a girl did not work out. Their mother's death was a sore point as Jay still harbored some lingering resentment over the fact that Will was "out partying" (presumably to get over his ex-girlfriend). Otherwise, the brothers share a close relationship and look out for one another. Jay was born and raised in Chicago, as Will has mentioned in multiple episodes of "Chicago Med" that he and Jay grew up in the South Side and Canaryville, Jay attended high school in Chicago and he once mentioned to his partner Erin Lindsay that their grandfather has a cabin in rural northern Wisconsin.

"Let me see you stripped down to the bone..." Linstead. Is. Killing. Me. I know I've been vidding Romgess and gushing over their cuteness. And I know VaneEleanor is my newest darling. Thank you for your patience. But Linstead is the first and foremost love of my life. Yeah, the couch scene was great. The parallel to 1x06 was better. And JAY RIPPING UP THE NUMBER AND ERIN'S SMILE WAS THE BEST. She's so happy with him and so trusting. I adore it. That's why this song was finally perfect after the last episode. I'd been saving using it and finishing this video until it felt right. Because yeah, it's sexy and about being physically "stripped," but it's also about being emotionally stripped. And now they've definitely shared just about every emotion/horror/victory/etc. Guysss....our OTP is r...

"If you love me, don't let go..." Well. I had this dumb notion that if I could just get to the Season 3 premiere the agonizing over Linstead every hour of every day would go away...but it didn't. So I thought I'd slowly make the 3x01 video to bide my time until next Wednesday. And then I finished the video in one day. Damn it. Why isn't it next Wednesday yet??? THAT PREMIERE THOUGH!!! It had all the angst and excitement and longing that a Linstead shipper could hope for. I'm literally dying for the conversations that are bound to happen next week. The gratitude and confusion and relief from Halstead versus the guilt and appreciation and concern from Lindsay. Holy OTP. How does each episode and each season make me love them even more? Anyway, I've been waiting to use this song since abou...

"You know that I could use somebody. Someone like you, and all you know, and how you speak..." Guyssssss....the kiss!!! I love these two so much and that was such awkward perfection. Darling Will being such an idiot: "Wait, Natalie. Don't you know I've been being a total jerk to you because I don't know how to act around you because I'm embarrassed that everyone knows I'm in love with you?" And then my girl Natalie being completely clueless: "No, Will. Wait, you're in love with me?" Baby girl. Baby girl. How do you not know? I know you have a lot going on being a widowed mom of a newborn...but BABE. If I had a Will Halstead following me around like a golden retriever I think I would sit up and take notice. Agh. Who would've thought these two would give me so much angst to work with? I lov...
[Lyrical magick: Proscriptor & Equitant, Musick: Shaftiel & Equitant]
From an empty house...
In take-flight, the grey hawks verged upon a sunless sky
Wild, whistling winds carried them sorely, and sailed them bristly in the same shady sky.
In take-ground, branded the mark of hall and heave; their martyrs never left
2000 years, 2000 urn-burials, 2000 lies have now been erased.
[Chorus:]
"We'll kneel towards the foyer with our precious salz!
We'll sound with horn, clash with wood and cleave with calls!
We've whittled the blades of Hallstattian swords!"
In order to see such a legacy, fire burned with a past that turned;
Anvils were forged at an early stage, molded as cats or iarn-leastair.
Ioldanach has spied on this mistery, yet he's enkindled by the light
With hues of argent lightning and ore of purem the salt grants them mastery and might.
[Chorus:]
"We'll kneel towards the foyer with our precious salz!
We'll sound with horn, clash with wood and cleave with calls!
We've whittled the blades of Hallstattian swords!"
[Bridge:]
Hallstatt
An Salaan
An Bas
[Troid Warrior:] "I see a battle; I feel the warp-spasm!"
[Ioldanach:] The poised warrior yowls with blood about his belt.
[Troid Warrior:] "Nothing shall draw my eyes away..."
[Ioldanach:] His heart stirs atrociously, now to think.
[Troid Warrior:] "I convey the names to the planes of Destiny!"
[Ioldanach:] The poised warrior seeks an ancient seat foe the Stone.
[Troid Warrior:] "Wild, whistling winds still laugh at my howls!"
[Ioldanach:] These acts of tale-telling dilate him to hate.
Hallstatt
An Salaan
An Bas
[Pre-Avouchment of Parable:]
The young ones of Hallstatt, and the sky
Silver-ilked spears have been whetted
Vast hilts and sheeny torques of gold;
Crafted from vanquished legacies.
Hallstatt
An Salaan
An Bas
[Avouchment of Parable:]
"Spirit of horsemen and spirit of iron age acclaim
The fame for 2000 crypts at Hallstatt!"
[Solo(s): Shaftiel]
To an empty home.
