The bold and the beautiful were out in force on Thursday evening for Tiffany & Co.'s exclusive soiree to launch their new HardWear collection.

With the face of the campaign, Lady Gaga, unable to make the event in Sydney, Lara Worthington (nee Bingle), 29, was flown into town by the luxury jewellery brand on a contract said to be worth "tens of thousands".

Worthington arrived 45 minutes after the party had started at an abandoned railway workshop at Carriageworks that was transformed into a chic, softly-lit disco complete with DJ and a set by sister duo Say Lou Lou, standing out against a sea of black cocktail ensembles in a cream, custom Michael Lo Sordo silk cami and matching culottes.

"We will be able to facilitate a chat with Lara ... She is very open to answering questions about her involvement with the brand and working with Tiffany & Co.," Fairfax Media was told ahead of the event.

But less than 30 minutes after her arrival, which she spent posing for photographers, Worthington had clocked off for the night.

"It's too late," Fairfax Media was told by an organiser. "Lara now has entered her free time and she said she wants to enjoy that free time."

There was noticeable disappointment behind-the-scenes that Worthington, who has two sons, Rocket Zot, 2, and Racer, seven months, with notoriously private actor, Sam Worthington, 40, was not more obliging, seeing as she once loved to live her life – warts and all – in the media spotlight.

While Worthington, who first found fame for shouting "Where the bloody hell are you?", turned media-shy all of a sudden, Melbourne lifestyle guru Nadia Bartel, 32, who is married to former Geelong player Jimmy Bartel, 33, was more than happy to open up, particularly on her main priorities at the moment: family and business.

She laughed when speaking about son, Aston, 2, who is going through "the terrible twos" at the moment. "He can be so naughty, he is having tantrums all of the time," she joked.

Her husband wants four children – "can you believe that?" Bartel laughed again – but family expansion plans have been put on hold while she focuses on developing her own fashion label, Tela, which is due online in spring.

Photographer Nicholas Tsindos, 30, who recently split from wife of 14 months, Jodhi Meares, 46, looked carefree and relaxed as he mingled and danced with friends.

Tsindos said he is currently focussing on putting together a photography exhibition, writing a book and enjoying spending time with friends.

Also rubbing shoulders at the VIP bash were celebrity stylist Dale McKie, blogger Yan Yan Chan and models Renae Ayris and Bree Warren.
