Hosted by NYC artist, Flaco Navaja, the content celebrates envelope pushing humor, current news, celebrity secrets of success, new music and the spirit of artistic collaboration. Instead of a studio set, it takes place in a bar - the kind of venue where artists and entrepreneurs come together to have a beer, share inspiration, and just chill. Each episode features original comedy sketches, our own Hustler of Culture (HOC) segment, a celebrity interview, and a musical guest. All content encourages and promotes creative collaborations. The show provides a unique platform for guests and artists to cross paths and develop an original piece of work exclusive to The Flaco Show. Interview and HOC guests will have some sort of connection to musical talent, even if they are simply hard-core fans. At The Flaco Show we may pair a known sneaker head with a fine artist in order to create a new sneaker…or we may pair a well-known Hip Hop producer with an indie-electro funk group just to see what they come up with. Viewers will experience glimpses of products, songs, apparel, etc., that cannot be found anywhere else… Comedy sketches: Written and developed by creators and other writer/contributors. Content is often based on actual experiences - much funnier than anything made up. Hustler of Culture: In every episode we profile a different individual who raises the bar on what it means to "hustle". The term, adopted by urban trendsetters, refers to one’s drive, connectedness, creativity and mobility. Hustlers of Culture can be artists, promoters, entrepreneurs, writers, workers, dancers, or just cool ass people who make the world a better place as result of their work. Celebrity Interview: Instead of the couch and scripted questions, celebrities are interviewed in a non-traditional and relaxed style. Topics range from their current projects to what it was like growing up. This segment is much more of a conversation than an interview. The purpose is to grasp unscripted sound bites of what success really means, what inspires them, who or what has influenced them and how they want to influence others. In our pilot episode, we interview Hip Hop Mogul Damon Dash about his new venture into Indie Rock music. In addition to being celebrities, these guests must emanate the spirit of the hustler and showcase a portfolio of projects. We seek the truth, not the hype. Musical Guest: Up and coming or established, talent and passion are the only requirements for our musical guests. Artists will be producing exclusive remixes and collabs, generating original content for both themselves and the show. Since the show is based in NYC, we have a pool of ridiculously gifted and genre bending artists at our disposal. So far we’ve had Navegante, the poet Lemon, Homeboy Sandman, and Si*Se. The Tone Edgy, urban, sketch comedy, NSFW, inspired by cross platform artistic collaborations. The show is meant for everyone who needs a laugh. The target audience are those who appreciate artistic expression, comedy, fresh music, urban trends, and entrepreneurs. The Event In order to build street buzz and anticipation and litmus test our content we have created a live interactive event to compliment the show. The Flaco Show LIVE! Is an interactive event complete with celeb guests, unique musical collaborations, pop-up performances, guest artists/ performers and exclusive clips of the series THE FLACO SHOW. We have partnered with Santos Party House, a premiere NYC nightlife venue known for its tastemaker and artistic scene. The LIVE show takes place on the last Sunday of every month. Just like the actual show, the LIVE event is full of surprises. Content includes performers that pop up in the audience, stand up comedy, live sketches, and musical guests, and clips of the series. The line up has included, aerialists, Electro Funk Bands, MC’s, and dancers. At times, spontaneous collaborations occur and out of them original content is born such as the legendary “Birth in Reverse” song. The Cast The Flaco Show has an ensemble cast of experienced NYC comedic theater actors. So far, there are two recurring characters: Dr. Flakinsky and the one and only Sery Colon, host of the Miel de Dia segment. Dr. Flakinsky: Dr. Flakinsky’s isn’t exactly a licensed doctor, although he does have a lab coat. His dream job would be a gynecologist (yuck!) but he’s really a medical assistant who spends most of his time answering phones and checking out patient’s files- the hot ones anyway.
