Police are responding to reports a van has hit pedestrians on London Bridge in central London. Witnesses have said that armed officers are understood to be at the scene after a white van hit pedestrians. The Metropolitan Police say they are dealing with an incident on the bridge. Transport for London said the bridge has been closed in both directions due to a "major police incident".

Police ushered civilians and the media down Southwark Street in central London in the early hours of Sunday after a van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge late on Saturday evening.
A stabbing was also reported close to Borough Market around the same time, where police reported shots had been fired.
London Metropolitan Police have confirmed that they are considering both events "terrorist incidents."

An experimental Time Lapse film exploring rush hour in London. Inspired by Koyaanisqatsi, the film uses time lapse photography techniques to create the visuals. A DSLR was set up to take a frame every 2 secs with a shutter speed of around 0.3 - 2 secs with an ND8 filter was used to create a motion blur which helps to increase the sense of rush and movement within the film.

This video was shot during a period of 2 months from public vantage points, private offices I was allowed access to and places where I shouldn't been.
The locations shown include The Tower of London, Liverpool Street Station, Big Ben, Heron Tower, Barbican, London Wall, Earl's Court Station, Bishopsgate, Millennium Bridge, Embankment, Kings Cross, Paternoster Square, Changing the Guard, Royal Exchange, Piccadilly Circus and Tate Modern.
All sequences were captured as RAW images and manipulated in After Effects to achieve the miniature / tilt shift look. In total I shot 25,850 images and 4,980 made it into the final edit.

Several historical bridges named London Bridge have spanned the River Thames between the City of London and Southwark, in central London. The current crossing, which opened to traffic in 1974, is a box girder bridge built from concrete and steel. This replaced a 19th-century stone-arched bridge, which in turn superseded a 600-year-old medieval structure. This was preceded by a succession of timber bridges, the first built by the Roman founders of London.
The current bridge stands at the western end of the Pool of London but is positioned 30 metres (98 ft) upstream from previous alignments. The traditional ends of the medieval bridge were marked by St Magnus-the-Martyr on the northern bank and Southwark Cathedral on the southern shore. Until Putney Bridge opened in 1729, London Bridge was the only road-crossing of the Thames downstream of Kingston-upon-Thames. Its importance has been the subject of popular culture throughout the ages such as in the nursery rhyme "London Bridge Is Falling Down" and its inclusion within art and literature.

i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. Bridge
A bridge is a structure built to span physical obstacles without closing the way underneath such as a body of water, valley, or road, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. There are many different designs that each serve a particular purpose and apply to different situations. Designs of bridges vary depending on the function of the bridge, the nature of the terrain where the bridge is constructed and anchored, the material used to make it, and the funds available to build it.
Etymology
The Oxford English Dictionary traces the origin of the word bridge to an Old English word brycg, of the same meaning. The word can be traced directly back to Proto-Indo-European *bʰrēw-. The word for the card game of the same name has a different origin.
History
The first bridges made by humans were probably spans of cut wooden logs or planks and eventually stones, using a simple support and crossbeam arrangement. Some early Americans used trees or bamboo poles to cross small caverns or wells to get from one place to another. A common form of lashing sticks, logs, and deciduous branches together involved the use of long reeds or other harvested fibers woven together to form a connective rope capable of binding and holding together the materials used in early bridges.

The Shard
The Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass,Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 95-storey skyscraper in Southwark, London, that forms part of the London Bridge Quarter development. Standing 309.6 metres (1,016 ft) high, the Shard is the tallest building in London and is currently the 87th tallest building in the world, the tallest building in the European Union and the fourth tallest building in Europe. It is also the second-tallest free-standing structure in the United Kingdom, after the concrete tower at the Emley Moor transmitting station.
The Shard's construction began in March 2009; it was topped out on 30 March 2012 and inaugurated on 6 July 2012. Practical completion was achieved in November 2012. The tower's privately operated observation deck, the View from the Shard, was opened to the public on 1 February 2013. The glass-clad pyramidal tower has 72 habitable floors, with a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck on the 72nd floor, at a height of 244.3 metres (802 ft). It was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano and replaced Southwark Towers, a 24-storey office block built on the site in 1975. The Shard was developed by Sellar Property Group on behalf of LBQ Ltd, and is jointly owned by Sellar Property and the State of Qatar.

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge (built 1886–1894) is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London. The bridge crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London and has become an iconic symbol of London. Tower Bridge is one of five London bridges now owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation. It is the only one of the Trust's bridges not to connect the City of London directly to the Southwark bank, as its northern landfall is in the Tower Hamlets.
The bridge consists of two bridge towers tied together at the upper level by two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal tension forces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical components of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower. The bridge's present colour scheme dates from 1977, when it was painted red, white and blue for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee.

Police are responding to reports a van has hit pedestrians on London Bridge in central London. Witnesses have said that armed officers are understood to be at the scene after a white van hit pedestrians. The Metropolitan Police say they are dealing with an incident on the bridge. Rush Hour London
An experimental Time Lapse film exploring rush hour in London. Inspired by Koyaanisqatsi, the film uses time lapse photography techniques to create the visuals. A DSLR was set up to take a frame every 2 secs with a shutter speed of around 0.3 - 2 secs with an ND8 filter was used to create a motion blur which helps to increase the sense of rush and movement within the film.

London in a miniature look. This video was shot during a period of 2 months from public vantage points, private offices I was allowed access to and places where I shouldn't been. The locations shown include The Tower of London, Liverpool Street Station, Big Ben, Heron Tower, Barbican, London Wall, Earl's Court Station, Bishopsgate, Millennium Bridge, Embankment, Kings Cross, Paternoster Square, Changing the Guard, Royal Exchange, Piccadilly Circus and Tate Modern. All sequences were captured as RAW images and manipulated in After Effects to achieve the miniature / tilt shift look. In total I shot 25,850 images and 4,980 made it into the final edit. London Lights
A short time-lapse film of London at night. This film was shot from November 2011 to February 2012 . As the nights drew longer and winter settled in, it provided me with the ideal opportunity to get out and shoot London at night. I'll be honest, I'm not really a city person! but there is something quite beautiful about the city at night. As I commute to London for work, I took the time to shoot this film on my walk back to the train station and over a period of 4 months I slowly collected footage. I wanted to try and get away from the cliches of London like Big Ben and Tower Bridge and focus more on the modern architecture. The city is ever changing as new buildings are constantly appearing. Like any great artist, he is a risk taker, he bears all to more than 375,000 people daily who pass by close to The Shard, via London Bridge Station. I have been fascinated by The Shard, ever since I worked on the London summer Olympics and had it wink at me, temptingly, each morning as I opened my hotel curtains. Sony A7SII & Filmconvert: The Bank & The Bridge
10% off Film Convert at gopb.co/filmconvert All shot handheld on the way to and on London's South Bank and Waterloo Bridge. The top and tail were shot for an early test (using a Sigma ART 24mm and Sony 90mm FE Macro) but the main section was all shot new using the Zeiss Batis 25mm and 85mm. I used the clear zoom function a lot to get longer than 85mm. It's fabulous! Shot in 4K 25p and HD 100fps for 2 shots upscaled to 4K Picture profile was S-Log 3 and S-Gamut Cine. Graded within Premiere using the FilmConvert plug in. A7sII profiles downloaded for this picture profile and a custom look was created using the Velvia stock as a preset. A short time-lapse film of London at night. This film was shot from November 2011 to February 2012 . As the nights drew longer and winter settled in, it provided me with the ideal opportunity to get out and shoot London at night.
I'll be honest, I'm not really a city person! but there is something quite beautiful about the city at night. As I commute to London for work, I took the time to shoot this film on my walk back to the train station and over a period of 4 months I slowly collected footage.
I wanted to try and get away from the cliches of London like Big Ben and Tower Bridge and focus more on the modern architecture. The city is ever changing as new buildings are constantly appearing. In a few years time I could go back and shoot a completely new film based on the new builds! but I suppose that's a good thing. The music for this film was composed in Logic Express.

Using the Millennium Bridge as a symbol, this project explores the psychology of transitory spaces.
As the only pedestrian bridge in London, The Millennium Bridge holds its own kind of magic.
The video was produced in conjunction with a book of photographs. The whole project aim to evoke the Bridge dual identity – a realistic and physical personality during the day(photos), a spiritual and ethereal space at night (video).
Light and sounds emanating from the bridge combine to create a journey from the ordinary to the spiritual. The blade of light is broken by the footsteps of the passers by.
Sounds recorded by contact microphone and hydrophone become more intense as you reach the suspended centre of the bridge.
The visual and the sound come from the bridge itself.

I usually make stopmotion videos, but thought I would take a break and make a one-off timelapse video. Here it is.
All the footage was taken over a three week period in November 2011, except for the first two daytime scenes of St Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium bridge at the beginning which were taken near the end of October 2011, and the rotation scene at Oxford Circus halfway through the video which was taken as part of another project earlier in the year for Minimood Records.

DETAILS:
I'm not normally a fan of timelapse videos, but there are a lot of scenes in London I wanted to include in a stopmotion video but couldn't find a way of connecting them together - the only way to do that was by a timelapse montage.
Initially I uploaded a simple version with all the clips joined together, but that seemed lazy and boring, so I redid it with transitions between most of the clips. I tried to zoom into areas in one clip that were similar to areas in another clip, so by zooming and panning in and then zooming out into another clip the transitions look more fluid. As the photos were taken at 4080x2720 on the 5D2 and 4032x2272 on the EPL3 this meant that for most scenes enough detail was there for me to zoom in a lot. Although in some scenes you'll see a bit of noise as I zoomed in over 2,000% some times. I didn't get the zoom/panning idea until after I had taken all the footage. If I had thought of it beforehand then I would've recorded it all at full 21MP [5616x3744 res] on the 5D2. Oh well. For other transitions I used the BCC [Boris Continuum Complete] swish transition and the BCC blur transition. Another method was by overlaying the ends of two clips and adjusting the opacity of each so they fade into each other.
One scene near the beginning of the video is stopmotion rather than timelapsing - across the Millennium Bridge. I did that with an EPL3. I attached the cam to a tripod and held it way above my head in continuous shot mode using a cable release and just walked incredibly slowly. I had to hold it high above my head because at normal level it looked too choppy with so many people bustling passed. I got a few strange looks doing that, but the effect was worth it I think.
Vimeo has a resolution limit, but I've uploaded the video at the original resolution on youtube, which is 4080x2720: http://youtu.be/gd4qPMORosI So those with a good internet connection can view it in 4k quality. That version has a different [and admittedly rather weird] piano piece I also made.

All the daytime footage at the beginning was taken on an EPL3 in diorama mode for a mild tilt-shift effect [continuous shooting with a release cable]. The night scenes were mostly taken with a 5D2, mostly using a Canon f/1.4 50mm prime lens. I didn't acquire the 24mm f/1.4 lens until near the end. I wanted longer exposures for traffic light trails, so the shutter mostly ranged between 1-2 secs.

I have been fascinated by The Shard, ever since I worked on the London summer Olympics and had it wink at me, temptingly, each morning as I opened my hotel curtains. One day, I knew I would be back ready to time-lapse from the inside of this marvellous structure, from The View From The Shard observation deck, and from street level.
I've tried to keep things short and sweet with some additional views of London from vertigo-inducing locations. I hope you enjoy it and can one day yourself, visit this amazing crystalline-building.

The top and tail were shot for an early test (using a Sigma ART 24mm and Sony 90mm FE Macro) but the main section was all shot new using the Zeiss Batis 25mm and 85mm. I used the clear zoom function a lot to get longer than 85mm. It's fabulous!
Shot in 4K 25p and HD 100fps for 2 shots upscaled to 4K
Picture profile was S-Log 3 and S-Gamut Cine. Graded within Premiere using the FilmConvert plug in. A7sII profiles downloaded for this picture profile and a custom look was created using the Velvia stock as a preset.
The first shot on the South Bank is soft but I liked so I kept it in. We aim for perfection but rarely get it!

The Tower Of London is the home of the Crown Jewels and one of the many historical sights of the United Kingdom’s capital city. Just as with the British Empire, the Tower has a colourful and dramatic past and it was originally designed as a fortress by William The Conqueror.Not far from the Tower’s original main entrance prisoners were taken through Traitors’ Gate into the notorious dungeons. In1843 the moat dried up but the old fortress and its towers have survived to the present day. It must have been a terrifying experience to be imprisoned there and few prisoners lived to tell the tale of the rigours of the Tower. Many members of the English royal family were executed in the Tower but there were times when official execution was replaced by cold-blooded murder. Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry The Eighth, was the most famous of those who fell victim to the Tower. Tower Bridge is a masterpiece of Victorian technology and construction. Its drawbridge once allowed large sailing ships to travel to the centre of the city. Today, however, the majority of large ships dock downstream and now the famous old bridge is raised around nine hundred times each year to facilitate the passage of numerous vessels that travel along the Thames. Even today the River Thames is ruled by this majestic bridge and the spectacular view from the Bridge’s 50 metre high walkway is truly fascinating. So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer.

This is our spin around tour of London.. GO!
First up is the Walkie Talkie Tower. Right behind us.
And we are standing right on London Bridge, under which goes the River Thames.
There just behind me is St Pauls Cathedral, and just in front of that is Canon Street Station.
Then in the distance is the BT Tower.
Closer up, you've got the err Backfriars Bridge, nearly forgot it! Which used to a be a bridge, but now it's actually a station!
And in this direction is the Golden Hind, which is the ship, which Sir Francis Drake used to circumnavigate the globe.
And then just next to that is Southwark Cathedral, that's where Shakespeare worshipped in London.
Now right behind us is London Bridge Station, then that tall building is The Shard. Pretty big! Can't really miss it!
Erm then over behind us here on the river is Tower Bridge, and then just in front is HMS Belfast.
In the distance you might be able to see Canary Wharf, that is over there!
And then i don't know if you can see it or not, the Tower of London is just over there aswell.
That's it, spin around tour, done!

Londoners run away from London Bridge van attack

Rush Hour London
An experimental Time Lapse film exploring rush hour in London. Inspired by Koyaanisqatsi, the film uses time lapse photography techniques to create the visuals. A DSLR was set up to take a frame every 2 secs with a shutter speed of around 0.3 - 2 secs with an ND8 filter was used to create a motion blur which helps to increase the sense of rush and movement within the film.

Like any great artist, he is a risk taker, he bears all to more than 375,000 people daily who pass by close to The Shard, via London Bridge Station. I have been fascinated by The Shard, ever since I worked on the London summer Olympics and had it wink at me, temptingly, each morning as I opened my hotel curtains. 10% off Film Convert at gopb.co/filmconvert All shot handheld on the way to and on London's South Bank and Waterloo Bridge. The top and tail were shot for an early test (using a Sigma ART 24mm and Sony 90mm FE Macro) but the main section was all shot new using the Zeiss Batis 25mm and 85mm. I used the clear zoom function a lot to get longer than 85mm. It's fabulous! Shot in 4K 25p and HD 100fps for 2 shots upscaled to 4K Picture profile was S-Log 3 and S-Gamut Cine. Graded within Premiere using the FilmConvert plug in. A7sII profiles downloaded for this picture profile and a custom look was created using the Velvia stock as a preset. An experimental Time Lapse film exploring rush hour in London. Inspired by Koyaanisqatsi, the film uses time lapse photography techniques to create the visuals. A DSLR was set up to take a frame every 2 secs with a shutter speed of around 0.3 - 2 secs with an ND8 filter was used to create a motion blur which helps to increase the sense of rush and movement within the film.

The locations shown include The Tower of London, Liverpool Street Station, Big Ben, Heron Tower, Barbican, London Wall, Earl's Court Station, Bishopsgate, Millennium Bridge, Embankment, Kings Cross, Paternoster Square, Changing the Guard, Royal Exchange, Piccadilly Circus and Tate Modern.
All sequences were captured as RAW images and manipulated in After Effects to achieve the miniature / tilt shift look. In total I shot 25,850 images and 4,980 made it into the final edit.

A short time-lapse film of London at night. This film was shot from November 2011 to February 2012 . As the nights drew longer and winter settled in, it provided me with the ideal opportunity to get out and shoot London at night.
I'll be honest, I'm not really a city person! but there is something quite beautiful about the city at night. As I commute to London for work, I took the time to shoot this film on my walk back to the train station and over a period of 4 months I slowly collected footage.
I wanted to try and get away from the cliches of London like Big Ben and Tower Bridge and focus more on the modern architecture. The city is ever changing as new buildings are constantly appearing. In a few years time I could go back and shoot a completely new film based on the new builds! but I suppose that's a good thing. The music for this film was composed in Logic Express.

Using the Millennium Bridge as a symbol, this project explores the psychology of transitory spaces.
As the only pedestrian bridge in London, The Millennium Bridge holds its own kind of magic.
The video was produced in conjunction with a book of photographs. The whole project aim to evoke the Bridge dual identity – a realistic and physical personality during the day(photos), a spiritual and ethereal space at night (video).
Light and sounds emanating from the bridge combine to create a journey from the ordinary to the spiritual. The blade of light is broken by the footsteps of the passers by.
Sounds recorded by contact microphone and hydrophone become more intense as you reach the suspended centre of the bridge.
The visual and the sound come from the bridge itself.

All the footage was taken over a three week period in November 2011, except for the first two daytime scenes of St Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium bridge at the beginning which were taken near the end of October 2011, and the rotation scene at Oxford Circus halfway through the video which was taken as part of another project earlier in the year for Minimood Records.

DETAILS:
I'm not normally a fan of timelapse videos, but there are a lot of scenes in London I wanted to include in a stopmotion video but couldn't find a way of connecting them together - the only way to do that was by a timelapse montage.
Initially I uploaded a simple version with all the clips joined together, but that seemed lazy and boring, so I redid it with transitions between most of the clips. I tried to zoom into areas in one clip that were similar to areas in another clip, so by zooming and panning in and then zooming out into another clip the transitions look more fluid. As the photos were taken at 4080x2720 on the 5D2 and 4032x2272 on the EPL3 this meant that for most scenes enough detail was there for me to zoom in a lot. Although in some scenes you'll see a bit of noise as I zoomed in over 2,000% some times. I didn't get the zoom/panning idea until after I had taken all the footage. If I had thought of it beforehand then I would've recorded it all at full 21MP [5616x3744 res] on the 5D2. Oh well. For other transitions I used the BCC [Boris Continuum Complete] swish transition and the BCC blur transition. Another method was by overlaying the ends of two clips and adjusting the opacity of each so they fade into each other.
One scene near the beginning of the video is stopmotion rather than timelapsing - across the Millennium Bridge. I did that with an EPL3. I attached the cam to a tripod and held it way above my head in continuous shot mode using a cable release and just walked incredibly slowly. I had to hold it high above my head because at normal level it looked too choppy with so many people bustling passed. I got a few strange looks doing that, but the effect was worth it I think.
Vimeo has a resolution limit, but I've uploaded the video at the original resolution on youtube, which is 4080x2720: http://youtu.be/gd4qPMORosI So those with a good internet connection can view it in 4k quality. That version has a different [and admittedly rather weird] piano piece I also made.

N.B. The video has a 3:2 scale because the Canon 5D2 takes photos with a 3:2 scale and most of the footage was taken with a 5D2. I cropped the Olympus EPL3 footage to fit this.

I have been fascinated by The Shard, ever since I worked on the London summer Olympics and had it wink at me, temptingly, each morning as I opened my hotel curtains. One day, I knew I would be back ready to time-lapse from the inside of this marvellous structure, from The View From The Shard observation deck, and from street level.
I've tried to keep things short and sweet with some additional views of London from vertigo-inducing locations. I hope you enjoy it and can one day yourself, visit this amazing crystalline-building.

All shot handheld on the way to and on London's South Bank and Waterloo Bridge. The top and tail were shot for an early test (using a Sigma ART 24mm and Sony 90mm FE Macro) but the main section was all shot new using the Zeiss Batis 25mm and 85mm. I used the clear zoom function a lot to get longer than 85mm. It's fabulous!
Shot in 4K 25p and HD 100fps for 2 shots upscaled to 4K
Picture profile was S-Log 3 and S-Gamut Cine. Graded within Premiere using the FilmConvert plug in. A7sII profiles downloaded for this picture profile and a custom look was created using the Velvia stock as a preset.
The first shot on the South Bank is soft but I liked so I kept it in. We aim for perfection but rarely get it!
