Cyclist, pedestrian injured in double hit-and-run in Yarralumla

Police have arrested a man after a car struck a cyclist and then a pedestrian before fleeing the scene on Sunday morning.

Police said the pedestrian was in a serious condition and the cyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries. Paramedics took both to the Canberra Hospital.

About 6.50am police received a report that a blue station wagon had hit a cyclist on Alexandrina Drive in Yarralumla.

"A short time later, the same blue station wagon collided with a pedestrian, also on Alexandrina Drive," police said.

The car had fled the scene.

About 7.50am, police found the car in Ainslie and took a man into custody. He is assisting police with their enquiries.

ACT Policing's Collision Investigation and Reconstruction team is investigating and police have called for any witnesses.
