A cave or cavern is a hollow place in the ground, especially a natural underground space large enough for a human to enter. Caves form naturally by the weathering of rock and often extend deep underground. The word cave can also refer to much smaller openings such as sea caves, rock shelters, and grottos.
Speleology is the science of exploration and study of all aspects of caves and the cave environment. Visiting or exploring caves for recreation may be called caving, potholing, or spelunking.
The formation and development of caves is known as speleogenesis. Caves are formed by various geologic processes and can be variable sizes. These may involve a combination of chemical processes, erosion from water, tectonic forces, microorganisms, pressure, and atmospheric influences.
It is estimated that the maximum depth of a cave cannot be more than 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) due to the pressure of overlying rocks. For karst caves the maximum depth is determined on the basis of the lower limit of karst forming processes, coinciding with the base of the soluble carbonate rocks.
The Cavern Club is a nightclub at 10 Mathew Street, in Liverpool, England.
The original Cavern Club opened on Wednesday, 16 January 1957 as a jazz club, later becoming a centre of the rock and roll scene in Liverpool in the 1960s. The Beatles played in the club in their early years.
The original Cavern club closed in March 1973 and was filled in during construction work on the Merseyrail underground rail loop. Focus were the last band to play the original Cavern a few days before the club was shut down.
The Cavern Club re-opened on 26 April 1984 and was rebuilt using many of the original bricks, to the original plans.
Alan Sytner opened The Cavern Club, having been inspired by the jazz district in Paris, where there were a number of clubs in cellars. Sytner returned to Liverpool and strove to open a club similar to the Le Caveau de la Huchette jazz club in Paris. He eventually found a fruit warehouse where people were leasing the cellar, before this it was used as an air raid shelter in WWII The club was opened on 16 January 1957. The first act to perform at the opening of the club was the Merseysippi Jazz Band.
The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960. With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential act of the rock era. Rooted in skiffle, beat, and 1950s rock and roll, the Beatles later experimented with several genres, ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock, often incorporating classical elements in innovative ways. In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania", but as the group's music grew in sophistication, led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, they came to be perceived as an embodiment of the ideals shared by the counterculture of the 1960s.
The Beatles built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg over a three-year period from 1960, with Stuart Sutcliffe initially serving as bass player. The core of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison went through a succession of drummers, most notably Pete Best, before asking Starr to join them. Manager Brian Epstein moulded them into a professional act and producer George Martin enhanced their musical potential. They gained popularity in the United Kingdom after their first hit, "Love Me Do", in late 1962. They acquired the nickname "the Fab Four" as Beatlemania grew in Britain over the following year, and by early 1964 they had become international stars, leading the "British Invasion" of the United States pop market. From 1965 onwards, the Beatles produced what many consider their finest material, including the innovative and widely influential albums Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), The Beatles (commonly known as the White Album, 1968) and Abbey Road (1969).

Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE (born 18 June 1942) is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame as the bassist of the rock band the Beatles, one of the most popular and influential groups in the history of pop music; his songwriting partnership with Lennon is one of the most celebrated of the 20th century. After the band's break-up, he pursued a solo career and formed Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Denny Laine.
McCartney has been recognised as one of the most successful composers and performers of all time, with 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles of his work with the Beatles and as a solo artist. More than 2,200 artists have covered his Beatles song "Yesterday", more than any other copyrighted song in history. Wings' 1977 release "Mull of Kintyre" is one of the all-time best-selling singles in the UK. A two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of the Beatles in 1988, and as a solo artist in 1999), and a 21-time Grammy Award winner (having won both individually and with the Beatles), McCartney has written, or co-written 32 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2014 he has sold more than 15.5 million RIAA-certified units in the United States. McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr received MBEs in 1965, and in 1997, McCartney was knighted for his services to music.

The Cavern Club, Liverpool, September - October 1962 This recording probably dates from late September - early October 1962. It can be assumed that it was recorded for reference purposes by The Beatles themselves. How the tape came in to circulation is unclear. Likewise, while it is likely that the original tape contains or contained more, these performances are the only ones to surface. Some people speculated that these recordings feature Pete Best and its from March 1962, but Ringo has stated the he is the one playing on these recordings. I personally think that is false. Music video by Ricardo Arjona performing Cavernícolas. (C) 2015 Metamorfosis Enterprises, Inc.
Your time is near, the mission's clear, it's later than we think
Before you slip into the night, you'll want something to drink
Steal away before the dawn, and bring us back good news
But if you've tread in primal soup, please wipe it from your shoes
Just then a porthole pirate scourged the evening with his cry
And sanctuary bugs deprived the monkey of its thigh
A dust arose and clogged my nose before I could blink twice
Despite the stuff that bubbled up, I gave some last advice:
The flesh from Satan's dogs will make the rudiments of gruel
Deduct the carrots from your pay you worthless swampy fool
Exploding then through fields and fen and swimming in the mire
The septic maiden's gargoyle tooth demented me with fire
I drifted where the current chose afloat upon my back
And if perchance a newt slimed by, I'd stuff it in my sack
Soon I felt a bubble form, somewhere below my skin
But with handy spine of hedgehog I removed the force within
Suzie then removed her mask and caused a mighty stir
The angry mob responded taking turns at grabbing her
The foggy cavern's musty grime appeared within my palm
I snatched Rick's fork to scrape it off with deadly icy calm
[Alternate lyrics for above verse:
The brothel wife then grabbed a knife and slashed me on the tongue
I turned the blade back on the bitch and dropped her in the dung]
The crowd meanwhile had taken Sue and used her like a rag
To mop the slime from where the slug had slithered with the bag
In summing up, the moral seems a little bit obscure...
Give the director a serpent deflector
a mudrat detector, a ribbon reflector
a cushion convector, a pitcher of nectar *
a virile dissector,a hormone collector
Whatever you do, take care of your shoes
