A conniving stray orange marmalade cat manages to hoodwink the Martins into taking him in, and then causes nothing but trouble, much to Lassie's dismay. When Timmy finally realizes the cat, whom he named "Mustard", is really a con artist in a fur coat, no one will believe him... except Lassie!
TRIVIA: The gene for orange color is carried on the X chromosome, making it sex-linked. About 85 percent of orange tabbies are males because they only have to have one copy for the orange gene to be orange. Females must have two copies to be orange. Female orange cats are thus somewhat rare because females are just as likely to inherit genes for other colors, making them tortoiseshells or patched tabbies.
While researchers were studying the temperaments of orange (red) tabby males in 2006 they noted that orange males were considered particularly intelligent, trainable, affectionate and unflappable. A well known animal trainer for the film industry divulged that animal trainers seek out orange males because of those personality traits mentioned above, hence orange tabbies are the most commonly seen cat in movies, television and commercials.One of the most famous and well known orange tiger (marmalade) cats in commercials is Morris the Cat - the famous 9 Lives cat food "spokescat" voiced by John Erwin. Morris has been played by several orange marmalade cats over the years. Two famous orange cats taking the starring role in successful movies were "Milo" from the wonderful 1986 film "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" (voice-overs by Dudley Moore), and "Thomasina" of the 1963 Disney film "The Three Lives of Thomasina" (voice over by by Elspeth March) .

This was the final episode with Timmy and Lassie together. Season 11 opened with a 3 episode story that shows the Martins accepting an offer to a farm in Australia, and having to leave Lassie behind due to the 6 month quarantine restriction. A broken hearted Timmy asks Cully to take care of Lassie for him, and both promise to write every chance they get. At the end of Part 1, Timmy, in tears, leaves Lassie with Cully and goes home alone. In Part 2 Cully suffers a heart attack tells Lassie to get a doctor. She runs to get Doc Weaver, the vet, and as Doc Weaver is driving Cully to the hospital (40 miles away), Cully's little terrier, Silky, escapes the house and tries to follow the car. She and Lassie end up at a campsite, where a little girl decides to take Silky for her own when her parents are ready to leave. Lassie runs after the camper, and when a road shutdown forces the camper to wait, Lassie frees Silky from within and both turn to head back to Cully's farm. Part 3 opens with Ranger Cory Stuart dropping in to visit the Martin family before he leaves for an assignment out west, and is surprised to find the farm empty. A sign on the house directs him to Cully's place where he meets Doc Weaver. Doc tells Cory the dogs are missing, and Cory goes in search of them. In the meantime, poor Silky falls down an abandoned mine shaft, but Cory arrives in the nick of time to rescue the terrier with Lassie's help. Cory returns Silky to a delighted Cully who decides that his farm just doesn't have the excitement needed to make Lassie happy. With Lassie cuddling close to Cory, and Cory's evident affection for the collie, Cully asks Cory if he would like to keep Lassie. Cory is thrilled, promises to write Timmy as often as possible, and Lassie says "goodbye" to both Cully and Silky and runs to leap happily in Cory's car. The final scene is Cory and Lassie driving down the road, delighted to be with each other, and looking forward to years of adventure together. This is a very sweet, very sad yet also very happy trio of episodes that transition Lassie from a family farm dog to the faithful companion for a US Forest Service ranger.
TRIVIA: Since this was a very critical transition in the future direction in the Lassie series, the opening credits show Lassie coming through a woodland, and stopping at a outcropping to survey the forested countryside. The music was also changed. In Part 2 and 3 the opening credits was just Lassie making her way through the woods and standing on the outcropping. (I chose to use the new credit opening for this combined 3 episode story) Besides leaving the farm scenery behind, the new opening foretold a new life for Lassie in the wilds of the American forest lands. Incidentally, the segue that allowed Cory to know to look at Cully's farm for information was very well done. It also deserves mention that Andy Clyde's acting was brilliant - deeply moving, very heartfelt, and Oscar winning in every respect. The old Vaudeville and Silent Screen actor pulled out all the stops to make his character and his dialog in this story some of the best ever seen in any Lassie episode, past or future. Andy Clyde died 2 years later in 1967 at the age of 75 from natural causes. His name is found on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Timmy and Boomer meet a tough runaway who is so enthusastic about living on his own camping out in the wild that Timmy and Boomer decide to try "roughing it" as well ... with a night camping in the barn.
TRIVIA: This episode, the second to the last of Season 5, was also a shake-out episode for at least two of the regulars in the series: Uncle Petrie, and Boomer. The character "Uncle Petrie" is only mentioned (he's in town apparently) in this episode, and doesn't appear in the next episode at all - rather unusual for a full season contract actor to suddenly disappear just before the end of the season. By all accounts Uncle Petrie was fairly popular with the audience, but Season 6 no longer has his character, or any mention of him except for once in the mid-season episode "In Case of Emergency" where the audience finds out he has moved and started his own business in town. His chactacter is then dropped completely after that episode.
This is also the second to the last episode for the character "Boomer". He will appear in the final episode, but is dropped - without explanation - in Season 6. I personally thought "Boomer" was wonderful and a perfect best buddy for Timmy, but either the actor didn't want to continue the role, or the producers wanted more and different "friends" for future Timmy episodes.

Harvey’s father was a famous rock climber who died when Harvey was just a baby. “The Grand Mountain Adventure Challenge” is an annual contest for kids. The Challenge tests kids’ abilities in Canoeing, Hiking, Rock Climbing and Orienteering - and this year it has a 10,000 dollar prize. The Challenge attracts kids from all over, including friends Zoe made in previous episodes. Zoe’s beloved Aunt Kim arrives with a Mountain Lion due to be rehomed. Kim desperately needs money to keep her mountain lion rescues program running. The kids secretly agree to give her the prize money if they win. The unprincipled coach of one team kidnaps Lassie in hopes of taking Zoe and Harvey out of the race but he’s underestimated the kids’ friendship with the other competitors who join in the search for Lassie. And he has also severely underestimated Lassie’s own resourcefulness and ability to escape. Zoe, Harvey and Lassie return to the starting line just in time to begin the race.

Lassie (2005 film)
Lassie is a 2005 British-American-French-Irish adventure comedy-drama film based on Eric Knight's 1940 novel Lassie Come-Home about the profound bond between Joe Carraclough and his rough collie, Lassie. The film was directed, written, and co-produced by Charles Sturridge and is a production of Samuel Goldwyn Films. The film stars Jonathan Mason and was distributed by Roadside Attractions and released in the UK on 16 December 2005. Filming took place in Scotland, Ireland and on the Isle of Man. The supporting cast features Peter O'Toole, Samantha Morton, Peter Dinklage, Edward Fox, and John Lynch. The film was generally reviewed positively by critics, but performed poorly at the box office.
Plot
Sam Carraclough, a miner who struggles to earn enough money to feed his family, sells the family's collie, Lassie, to the Duke of Rudling, leaving his young son heartbroken over the loss of his canine companion. The film follows Lassie on the collie's 500-mile journey from the Duke of Rudling's estate in the Scottish Highlands to the Carraclough home.

Timmy and Boomer meet a tough runaway who is so enthusastic about living on his own camping out in the wild that Timmy and Boomer decide to try "roughing it" as well ... with a night camping in the barn. TRIVIA: This episode, the second to the last of Season 5, was also a shake-out episode for at least two of the regulars in the series: Uncle Petrie, and Boomer. The character "Uncle Petrie" is only mentioned (he's in town apparently) in this episode, and doesn't appear in the next episode at all - rather unusual for a full season contract actor to suddenly disappear just before the end of the season. By all accounts Uncle Petrie was fairly popular with the audience, but Season 6 no longer has his character, or any mention of him except for once in the mid-season episode "In Case of Emergency" where the audience finds out he has moved and started his own business in town. His chactacter is then dropped completely after that episode. This is also the second to the last episode for the character "Boomer". He will appear in the final episode, but is dropped - without explanation - in Season 6. I personally thought "Boomer" was wonderful and a perfect best buddy for Timmy, but either the actor didn't want to continue the role, or the producers wanted more and different "friends" for future Timmy episodes. -

The unprincipled coach of one team kidnaps Lassie in hopes of taking Zoe and Harvey out of the race but he’s underestimated the kids’ friendship with the other competitors who join in the search for Lassie. And he has also severely underestimated Lassie’s own resourcefulness and ability to escape. Plot: Life is hard for Yorkshire miner's son Joe Carraclough, who is beaten at school by a his teacher, his only consolation is his collie Lassie. It gets worse: when the mine is decommissioned, his father, Sam, is forced to sell the dog to the duke, who owns the local estate. The Duke's servant, Hynes, scares the dog, who keeps running back, so the Carracloughs have to keep returning her, until the Duke moves to the Scottish Highlands for the holiday season. Plot: In 1860 Ediburgh, sheep herder Jock Gray finds a Collie puppy on the loose. When she is unclaimed, he takes her as his own and calls her Lassie. They are soon inseparable but when Jock dies and is buried in an unmarked grave, Lassie takes to sleeping in the churchyard to be near him. Jock's good friend John Traill is prepared to find a good home for Lassie but no matter how hard he tries, she always manages to get away and despite any obstacles put in her way, manages to get back to Jock's grave. It all comes to a head when a local magistrate orders her destroyed for not having a license leading Traill to take his case to a higher court.

A conniving stray orange marmalade cat manages to hoodwink the Martins into taking him in, and then causes nothing but trouble, much to Lassie's dismay. When Timmy finally realizes the cat, whom he named "Mustard", is really a con artist in a fur coat, no one will believe him... except Lassie! TRIVIA: The gene for orange color is carried on the X chromosome, making it sex-linked. About 85 percent of orange tabbies are males because they only have to have one copy for the orange gene to be orange. Females must have two copies to be orange. Female orange cats are thus somewhat rare because females are just as likely to inherit genes for other colors, making them tortoiseshells or patched tabbies. Season 11 opened with a 3 episode story that shows the Martins accepting an offer to a farm in Australia, and having to leave Lassie behind due to the 6 month quarantine restriction. A broken hearted Timmy asks Cully to take care of Lassie for him, and both promise to write every chance they get. At the end of Part 1, Timmy, in tears, leaves Lassie with Cully and goes home alone. In Part 2 Cully suffers a heart attack tells Lassie to get a doctor. She runs to get Doc Weaver, the vet, and as Doc Weaver is driving Cully to the hospital (40 miles away), Cully's little terrier, Silky, escapes the house and tries to follow the car. She and Lassie end up at a campsite, where a little girl decides to take Silky for her own when her parents are ready to leave. Lassie runs after the camper, and when a road shutdown forces the camper to wait, Lassie frees Silky from within and both turn to head back to Cully's farm. Part 3 opens with Ranger Cory Stuart dropping in to visit the Martin family before he leaves for an assignment out west, and is surprised to find the farm empty. A sign on the house directs him to Cully's place where he meets Doc Weaver. Doc tells Cory the dogs are missing, and Cory goes in search of them. In the meantime, poor Silky falls down an abandoned mine shaft, but Cory arrives in the nick of time to rescue the terrier with Lassie's help. Cory returns Silky to a delighted Cully who decides that his farm just doesn't have the excitement needed to make Lassie happy. With Lassie cuddling close to Cory, and Cory's evident affection for the collie, Cully asks Cory if he would like to keep Lassie. Cory is thrilled, promises to write Timmy as often as possible, and Lassie says "goodbye" to both Cully and Silky and runs to leap happily in Cory's car. The final scene is Cory and Lassie driving down the road, delighted to be with each other, and looking forward to years of adventure together. This is a very sweet, very sad yet also very happy trio of episodes that transition Lassie from a family farm dog to the faithful companion for a US Forest Service ranger. TRIVIA: Since this was a very critical transition in the future direction in the Lassie series, the opening credits show Lassie coming through a woodland, and stopping at a outcropping to survey the forested countryside. The music was also changed. In Part 2 and 3 the opening credits was just Lassie making her way through the woods and standing on the outcropping. (I chose to use the new credit opening for this combined 3 episode story) Besides leaving the farm scenery behind, the new opening foretold a new life for Lassie in the wilds of the American forest lands. Incidentally, the segue that allowed Cory to know to look at Cully's farm for information was very well done. It also deserves mention that Andy Clyde's acting was brilliant - deeply moving, very heartfelt, and Oscar winning in every respect. The old Vaudeville and Silent Screen actor pulled out all the stops to make his character and his dialog in this story some of the best ever seen in any Lassie episode, past or future. Andy Clyde died 2 years later in 1967 at the age of 75 from natural causes. His name is found on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. TRIVIA: This episode, the second to the last of Season 5, was also a shake-out episode for at least two of the regulars in the series: Uncle Petrie, and Boomer. The character "Uncle Petrie" is only mentioned (he's in town apparently) in this episode, and doesn't appear in the next episode at all - rather unusual for a full season contract actor to suddenly disappear just before the end of the season. By all accounts Uncle Petrie was fairly popular with the audience, but Season 6 no longer has his character, or any mention of him except for once in the mid-season episode "In Case of Emergency" where the audience finds out he has moved and started his own business in town. His chactacter is then dropped completely after that episode. This is also the second to the last episode for the character "Boomer". He will appear in the final episode, but is dropped - without explanation - in Season 6.
