Merlin Griffiths, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Global Brand Ambassador, demonstrates the art and simplicity of making the perfect BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Collins.
The BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® Collins is a refreshing, light cocktail that complements and enhances the Spanish lemon peel, just one of the 10 exotic botanicals sourced from around the world found in BOMBAY SAPPHIRE.
INGREDIENTS (for 1 BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Collins):
- 1.5 measures of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Gin
- Freshly squeezed juice of ½ large lemon (or 1 small lemon)
- 2 heaped tsps caster (superfine) sugar
- Soda water
GLASS:
Highball or long glass
METHOD:
Add the lemon juice and sugar to the glass and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add BOMBAY SAPPHIRE. Fill the glass with ice, stir at least 5 turns to chill the liquid, then add more ice to replace any that melts. Top up with soda water and stir all the liquid carefully through the ice. Garnish with 1 lemon wedge and 2 straws. Serve immediately.
OPTION:
If you are feeling a little more adventurous, muddle blueberries in the glass with the lemon juice and sugar before adding the other ingredients to create a BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Blueberry Collins.

Hoy os vamos a enseñar cómo preparar el gin-tonic perfecto, con ginebra Bombay Sapphire, tónica Indi, lima natural y por supuesto mucho hielo. Comenzamos.
Cogemos 4 o 5 cubitos de buen hielo, preferentemente de agua destilada y los servimos en la copa para enfriarla. Comenzamos a darles vueltas con la cuchara, hasta que veamos cómo se va enfriando la copa poco a poco. Aquí lo podéis apreciar mejor.
Una vez esté lo suficientemente fría, utilizamos un colador de gusanillo como éste o la propia cuchara para tirar el agua generada al enfriar la copa con el hielo.
Ahora utilizamos un vaso de chupito o un medidor para servir 0,5 o 0,6 cl de Ginebra, no más. Con esta cantidad es suficiente para preparar un gin-tonic con un sabor equilibrado.
Ahora utilizamos un vaso de chupito para servir la Ginebra. Abrimos el Bombay Sapphire, lo servimos en el vaso de chupito, que son 5 o 6 cl. de ginebra. Por supuesto, también se puede usar un vaso medidor. Con esta cantidad es suficiente para preparar un gin-tonic con un sabor equilibrado. Y de ahí a la copa
A continuación vamos a condimentar el gin-tonic con lima. Para ello tenemos preparadas varias tiras de piel de lima. Es importante recalcar que los aromas y aceites de la lima que dotarán de sabores y matices al gin-tonic se encuentran en la piel. Por ello frotamos así una tira contra el borde de la copa.
Ahora pasamos a servir la tónica. Es importante compaginar una buena ginebra con una tónica de calidad como la Indi, ya que si uno de los ingredientes no está a la altura nunca podremos disfrutar de esta bebida como se merece. A la hora de servirla, es importante utilizar una cuchara trenzada como ésta, que nos permite servir la tónica en la copa sin romper las burbujas evitando perder sabores.
Una vez hecho esto, removemos un poco y ya tenemos nuestro gin-tonic perfecto, listo para sorprender al paladar más exquisito. Y ya sabes, las bebidas Premium más baratas en yopongoelhielo.com.

Bombay Sapphire
Bombay Sapphire is a brand of gin owned by Bacardi that was first launched in 1987 by IDV. In 1997 Diageo sold the brand to Bacardi. Its name originates from gin's popularity in India during the British Raj and the sapphire in question is the Star of Bombay on display at the Smithsonian Institution. Bombay Sapphire is marketed in a flat-sided, sapphire-coloured bottle that bears a picture of Queen Victoria on the label.
The flavouring of the drink comes from a recipe of ten ingredients: almond, lemon peel, liquorice, juniper berries, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia, cubeb, and grains of paradise. The spirit is triple distilled using a carterhead still, and the alcohol vapours are passed through a mesh/basket containing the ten botanicals, in order to gain flavour and aroma. This gives a lighter, more floral gin rather than the more-common 'punchy' gins that are distilled using a copper pot still. Water from Lake Vyrnwy is added to bring the strength of Bombay Sapphire down to 40.0% (UK, Canada, Australia).

Mumbai
Mumbai (/mʊmˈbaɪ/; also known as Bombay, the official name until 1995) is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and the ninth most populous agglomeration in the world, with an estimated city population of 18.4 million. Along with the neighbouring regions of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, it is one of the most populous urban regions in the world and the seсond most populous metropolitan area in India, with a population of 20.7 million as of 2011. The seven islands that came to constitute Mumbai were home to communities of fishing colonies. For centuries, the islands were under the control of successive indigenous empires before being ceded to the Portuguese and subsequently to the British East India Company when in 1661 King Charles II married the Portuguese Catherine of Braganza, and as part of her dowry Charles received the ports of Tangier and seven islands of Bombay. During the mid-18th century, Bombay was reshaped by the Hornby Vellard project, which undertook reclamation of the area between the seven islands from the sea. Along with construction of major roads and railways, the reclamation project, completed in 1845, transformed Bombay into a major seaport on the Arabian Sea. Bombay in the 19th century was characterized by economic and educational development. During the early 20th century it became a strong base for the Indian independence movement. Upon India's independence in 1947 the city was incorporated into Bombay State. In 1960, following the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, a new state of Maharashtra was created with Bombay as the capital.

Sapphire
Sapphire (Greek: σάπφειρος; sappheiros, 'blue stone', which probably referred instead at the time to lapis lazuli) is a typically blue gemstone variety of the mineral corundum, an aluminium oxide (α-Al2O3). Trace amounts of elements such as iron, titanium, chromium, copper, or magnesium can give corundum respectively blue, yellow, purple, orange, or green color. Chromium impurities in corundum yield pink or red tint, the latter being called ruby.
Commonly, sapphires are worn in jewelry. Sapphires may be found naturally, by searching through certain sediments (due to their resistance to being eroded compared to softer stones) or rock formations. They also may be manufactured for industrial or decorative purposes in large crystal boules. Because of the remarkable hardness of sapphires – 9 on the Mohs scale (the third hardest mineral, after diamond at 10 and moissanite at 9.5) – and of aluminium oxide in general, sapphires are used in some non-ornamental applications, including infrared optical components, such as in scientific instruments; high-durability windows; wristwatch crystals and movement bearings; and very thin electronic wafers, which are used as the insulating substrates of very special-purpose solid-state electronics (especially integrated circuits and GaN-based LEDs).

The BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® Collins is a refreshing, light cocktail that complements and enhances the Spanish lemon peel, just one of the 10 exotic botanicals sourced from around the world found in BOMBAY SAPPHIRE.
INGREDIENTS (for 1 BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Collins):
- 1.5 measures of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Gin
- Freshly squeezed juice of ½ large lemon (or 1 small lemon)
- 2 heaped tsps caster (superfine) sugar
- Soda water
GLASS:
Highball or long glass
METHOD:
Add the lemon juice and sugar to the glass and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add BOMBAY SAPPHIRE. Fill the glass with ice, stir at least 5 turns to chill the liquid, then add more ice to replace any that melts. Top up with soda water and stir all the liquid carefully through the ice. Garnish with 1 lemon wedge and 2 straws. Serve immediately.
OPTION:
If you are feeling a little more adventurous, muddle blueberries in the glass with the lemon juice and sugar before adding the other ingredients to create a BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Blueberry Collins.

Hoy os vamos a enseñar cómo preparar el gin-tonic perfecto, con ginebra Bombay Sapphire, tónica Indi, lima natural y por supuesto mucho hielo. Comenzamos.
Cogemos 4 o 5 cubitos de buen hielo, preferentemente de agua destilada y los servimos en la copa para enfriarla. Comenzamos a darles vueltas con la cuchara, hasta que veamos cómo se va enfriando la copa poco a poco. Aquí lo podéis apreciar mejor.
Una vez esté lo suficientemente fría, utilizamos un colador de gusanillo como éste o la propia cuchara para tirar el agua generada al enfriar la copa con el hielo.
Ahora utilizamos un vaso de chupito o un medidor para servir 0,5 o 0,6 cl de Ginebra, no más. Con esta cantidad es suficiente para preparar un gin-tonic con un sabor equilibrado.
Ahora utilizamos un vaso de chupito para servir la Ginebra. Abrimos el Bombay Sapphire, lo servimos en el vaso de chupito, que son 5 o 6 cl. de ginebra. Por supuesto, también se puede usar un vaso medidor. Con esta cantidad es suficiente para preparar un gin-tonic con un sabor equilibrado. Y de ahí a la copa
A continuación vamos a condimentar el gin-tonic con lima. Para ello tenemos preparadas varias tiras de piel de lima. Es importante recalcar que los aromas y aceites de la lima que dotarán de sabores y matices al gin-tonic se encuentran en la piel. Por ello frotamos así una tira contra el borde de la copa.
Ahora pasamos a servir la tónica. Es importante compaginar una buena ginebra con una tónica de calidad como la Indi, ya que si uno de los ingredientes no está a la altura nunca podremos disfrutar de esta bebida como se merece. A la hora de servirla, es importante utilizar una cuchara trenzada como ésta, que nos permite servir la tónica en la copa sin romper las burbujas evitando perder sabores.
Una vez hecho esto, removemos un poco y ya tenemos nuestro gin-tonic perfecto, listo para sorprender al paladar más exquisito. Y ya sabes, las bebidas Premium más baratas en yopongoelhielo.com.
