Move set to raise stakes for spring carnival

Hugh beauty: Hugh Bowman and Winx are set to call Randwick home this spring.

Sydney's spring carnival will be moved back, more than $1 million in stakes will be added to the prize pool and there will be a greater focus on pathways to big Melbourne races, meaning champion Winx is likely to stay at home right up to her crack at a third Cox Plate.

The Newcastle trainer wants to make it a group 1 hattrick with Danish Twist in the Tatts Tiara, a challenge that has been in the planning for a couple of months.
