Nick Kyrgios' French Open campaign all over

Nick Kyrgios' French Open campaign is over following a third-round doubles loss with fellow Australian Jordan Thompson.

Kyrgios and Thompson went down 6-4 6-4 to American Donald Young and Mexican Santiago Gonzalez at Roland Garros on Saturday.

Thompson dropped serve in the seventh game of each set of an entertaining encounter, with the Australians' unable to convert their only break-point chance in the final game of the match.

Despite the defeat, it was still a successful campaign after the first-time pairing took out French second seeds Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the opening round to provide Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt another doubles option for Australia's semi-final later this year, on clay, in Belgium.

Kyrgios thrilled French fans with his tweeners and no-look flicks on Court 3, but they will have to wait another year to see the colourful talent after his singles assault only lasted two rounds in Paris.
