Abbott Point of Care has provided an educational grant to the AACC to support development of these Point-of-Care (POC) Testing programs. Learners who successfully pass all courses are provided a certificate of completion, and continuing education credits are earned in each program.

Point of care specialist certificate

American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC)

Designed for working professionals, this online program provides a comprehensive curriculum for successful practice in US-based hospital, clinical, and doctor's office point-of-care testing. It includes additional resources and references for international learners, reflecting practices in the EU and Canada. It is an eight-course program that provides learners information on point-of-care administration, regulations, policies and procedures, and quality improvement processes, as well as an understanding of system validation requirements, connectivity, and staff training needs related to point of care. Each course is composed of a lecture, readings, and a quiz. The program offers online peer discussions and a final exam to strengthen your proficiency with the course material.

Improving outcomes through point of care testing certificate program

American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC)

This eight-course certificate program has been developed for laboratory professionals with an interest in learning more about the ways that point of care is making an impact on specific testing, disease management, and emergency scenarios.  To further the use of best practices, the program also provides access to guidelines.  Courses concentrate on the use of point-of-care testing for cardiac markers, creatinine, diabetes, and infectious diseases, as well as for diagnosis of infections, and POCT management in disaster medicine.
