Radical Lives: Mohammed Deif
Mohammed Deif has been a science student, theatre troupe leader, and more recently the chief commander of the Al-Qassam brigades in Gaza. His life has been controversial, and he remains an epitome of the 'freedom fighter/terrorist' icon. Though rumoured to be dead, the Al-Qassam brigades maintain he lives. It's not clear either way: his photo hasn't been taken in 30 years and he is rumoured to be a master of disguise.
