Flatbush Zombies (stylized as Flatbush ZOMBiES) are an American rap group from the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 2010. The group is composed of rappers Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erick "The Architect" Elliott, the latter of which also serves as their regular producer. They are part of the East Coast hip hop movement known as "Beast Coast," which consists of fellow Brooklyn-based rappers The Underachievers and Pro Era.
The group grew in popularity through two mixtapes and music videos, leading to their first LP, 3001: A Laced Odyssey, in 2016.
Friends since grade school, all three members were born and raised in Flatbush and are of Jamaican descent. One of the first things Meech and Juice bonded over was Dragon Ball Z. During their teenage years, they started dabbling in psychedelics such as psilocybin mushrooms and LSD. Juice and Issa Gold of The Underachievers specifically starting looking into the indigo lifestyle. Meech said the first time doing mushrooms his ego died and had a sort of rebirth of conscience, hence him now being a "zombie."
A zombie (Haitian French: zombi, Haitian Creole: zonbi) is a fictional undead being created through the reanimation of a human corpse. Zombies are most commonly found in horror and fantasy genre works. The term comes from Haitian folklore, where a zombie is a dead body reanimated through various methods, most commonly magic. Modern depictions of zombies do not necessarily involve magic but often invoke science fictional methods such as radiation or viruses.
The English word "zombie" is first recorded in 1819, in a history of Brazil by the poet Robert Southey, in the form of "zombi". The Oxford English Dictionary gives the origin of the word as West African, and compares it to the Kongo words nzambi (god) and zumbi (fetish).
One of the first books to expose Western culture to the concept of the voodoo zombie was The Magic Island by W.B. Seabrook in 1929. This is the sensationalized account of a narrator who encounters voodoo cults in Haiti and their resurrected thralls. Time claimed that the book "introduced 'zombi' into U.S. speech".

A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

The Flatbush Zombies are raking in the dough from their debut album 3001: A Laced Odyssey, released earlier this month. HNHH caught up with the rambunctious trio of Erick the Architect, Meechy Darko, & Zombie Juice down at SXSW to talk about the making of the album as well as their love of Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey", NYC rapper camaraderie ("camaraderie is very important"), and assorted other topics. Erick the Architect explained how he got in touch with comic book artist David Nakayama, who designed the exceptionally ill cover art for 3001: A Laced Odyssey, and discussed how the Zombies approached their debut album differently than they would have a mixtape. "We approached this with intent to change and basically reestablish that we're psychedelic hip hop artists," he said...

The Brooklyn rap trio hit London with force. When Flatbush Zombies rolled into London in September for another sell-out show, there was no way we weren't going to be on hand to capture it. One of the most adrenaline-powered, energetic acts around, their live sets are in the group's own words "fucking nutty" – the kinda sweat-soaked spectacles you can't help but lost your shit to. Fans were queuing round the block for their return to the capital, this time taking to the stage at KOKO. We spent the day with them, experiencing a show in the life of the New York trio and discussing everything from their inspirations to the craziest stuff that's happened to them on stage. [Intro: Espa]
I lift my hands up high for another night
Cause I lost my wings and i wanna fly
I even wash my face in the river Nile
Imma pray all day 'til I get it right
[Hook 1 (x2): Erick Arc Elliot]
Before I leave the crib I know I say my prayers
Pray to God I'm happy every single day I swear
More money I'm more prepared more niggas that's unaware
Most niggas don't even listen they only see what they hear
[Verse 1: Erick Arc Elliot]
My mind ain't certain
That I put enough work in
These beats, these streets, no purpose
Repeat, rebuild, resurface
No longer in disturbance
Get a shooter if your nervous
Stressed out made a nigga feel worthless
Can't nobody fuck up on purpose (on purpose)
I remember when I had no government
My name was so crazy, had lines like cocaine
And those the good days, I got them good grades
Had profit to get paid, I made some mistakes
That's something we all gone say
Had to ignore a bitch called today
But a little bit of head made it all okay
If you niggas want a war then my boys gone play
[Hook 2 (x2): Meechy Darko]
Before I leave the crib you better say your prayers
Niggas trigger happy every single day I swear
More murder I'm more aware, more bullets I'm more prepared
Most niggas don't even listen that's until they hear the bang
[Verse 2: Meechy Darko]
My mind's uncertain, do I put enough work in
Red rum red rum, bloody murder
Head shot, close range, close curtains
No encore that's for certain
Clack clack, bravo, I murked 'em
Hoes, clothes, more drugs, more murder
More guns, more drugs, more murder (more murder)
In the ghetto where the rats eat roaches
Gats tucked in our drawers, we don't need holsters
You gone learn today, you gone get involved
We scamming, drug dealing, prostitution and all
In the ghetto praise to God alike a long distance call
I done rang Jesus for years, fuck it, no response
What? I'm supposed to sit and starve
Ha! Gat in my palm and taking your be my job
I don't want to shoot and steal
I don't want to kill and rob
I just want to provide
For my momma, my poppa, my kids and I
I just want to provide
For my bitch, and my homies that's from my side
But I came straight from homicide
[Hook 1: Erick Arc Alliot]
[Hook 2: Meechy Darko]
