Music video

A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

Borgeous

John Borger, better known by his stage name Borgeous, stylized as BORGEOUS, is an American DJ and music producer.

Career

The LA-based Platinum recording artist and DJ/producer has already accomplished three Billboard Dance Radio Top 10’s, three Beatport #1’s and a #1 on the iTunes Dancechart in 15 different countries.

His earlier releases include "From Cali With Love", "GANGSTEROUS", "Rags to Riches" and "AGGRO" that launched his career in 2013. However it was with the release of "Tsunami" in collaboration with Canadian electronic music duo DVBBS that he shot to international fame. At first there was confusion about the actual creator of the track. The single, had been a big hit at festivals for months and occasionally been attributed to DJ Sander van Doorn, but was confirmed by Pete Tong to be the work of DVBBS and Borgeous. In its world exclusive, Tong played the song on his show on BBC Radio 1 on August 16, 2013.Billboard magazine called it “the most played tune at Tomorrowland,” the 2013 Belgian electronic music festival. It was officially released on Doorn Records on August 19, 2013. A week later, it reached #1 on the Beatport 100. It reached #1 on iTunes in 15 different countries, #1 on Beatport, received an EMPO Award for ‘Track of the Year’ and was nominated for the Juno Award ‘Best Dance Recording of the Year’.

Big Bang

The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological model for the universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution. The model accounts for the fact that the universe expanded from a very high density and high temperature state, and offers a comprehensive explanation for a broad range of phenomena, including the abundance of light elements, the cosmic microwave background, large scale structure and Hubble's Law. If the known laws of physics are extrapolated beyond where they are valid, there is a singularity. Modern measurements place this moment at approximately 13.8 billion years ago, which is thus considered the age of the universe. After the initial expansion, the universe cooled sufficiently to allow the formation of subatomic particles, and later simple atoms. Giant clouds of these primordial elements later coalesced through gravity to form stars and galaxies.

Music

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and with vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping, and there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses"). In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form include the production of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are a Belgian DJ duo composed of brothers Dimitri Thivaios and Michael Thivaios. They currently hold the #1 spot on DJ Magazine's annual Top 100 DJs poll.

Musical career

Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike began to make their first steps as DJ's at the ages of 14/15. In their early years they made several appearances in small clubs and was the resident BeatFM radio DJ. Dimitri then left Flanders in 1999 and began touring Europe. He lived in Mallorca and then in Halkidiki, Greece before moving to Ibiza in 2003, where he was a resident in major clubs such as Privilege and Space.

After living in Mallorca and on the Canary Islands, he settled in Zante, Greece where he was a resident of Amnesia and The End in 2006. In autumn 2006, Dimitri returned to Belgium to work with his brother, Like Mike, and produced their first release "La Cocaina (Eivissa 2007)". His remix of "Work That Body", 2008 caught the attention of Axwell, who entrusted them with a remix of "Rotterdam City of Love" by Abel Ramos for his label Axtone.
