So I woke up this morning and saw that the video "Shrek but the ENTIRE VIDEO is converted to MIDI" got taken down. Rip :(. I kinda deserved it, though, because I pretty much reuploaded the entire movie.

Was looking for a midi for a project, but I couldn't find the one I needed. Came across a website that promised to convert MP3s to midis, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Aside from the fact that the result sounded like a piano factory exploding, I also could have sworn I heard sung lyrics in it, even though the only midi track was a piano. Not sure how the converter works, but I guess the way vocals are recreated via piano is similar enough to the real song for our brains to mentally fill in the words where there aren't any. Maybe? Pianos usually don't talk.
Let me know how well you hear the lyrics, if at all, and what other songs you tried!

MIDI
MIDI (/ˈmɪdi/; short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a technical standard that describes a protocol, digital interface and connectors and allows a wide variety of electronic musical instruments, computers and other related devices to connect and communicate with one another. A single MIDI link can carry up to sixteen channels of information, each of which can be routed to a separate device.
MIDI carries event messages that specify notation, pitch and velocity, control signals for parameters such as volume, vibrato, audio panning, cues, and clock signals that set and synchronize tempo between multiple devices. These messages are sent via a MIDI cable to other devices where they control sound generation and other features. This data can also be recorded into a hardware or software device called a sequencer, which can be used to edit the data and to play it back at a later time.
MIDI technology was standardized in 1983 by a panel of music industry representatives, and is maintained by the MIDI Manufacturers Association (MMA). All official MIDI standards are jointly developed and published by the MMA in Los Angeles, California, US, and for Japan, the MIDI Committee of the Association of Musical Electronics Industry (AMEI) in Tokyo.

Was looking for a midi for a project, but I couldn't find the one I needed. Came across a website that promised to convert MP3s to midis, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Was looking for a midi for a project, but I couldn't find the one I needed. Came across a website that promised to convert MP3s to midis, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Aside from the fact that the result sounded like a piano factory exploding, I also could have sworn I heard sung lyrics in it, even though the only midi track was a piano. Not sure how the converter works, but I guess the way vocals are recreated via piano is similar enough to the real song for our brains to mentally fill in the words where there aren't any. Maybe? Pianos usually don't talk.
Let me know how well you hear the lyrics, if at all, and what other songs you tried!

The last time I was at this venue, was to review/shoot pics of Robert Cray last year. All seated, balcony and stalls virtually sold out, predominantly a mature audience. A cracking night too. Similar deal tonight; 99.5% full for this all-seated affair in the 1,086 capacity venue for the mainly male, 55+ age range audience ... Quite a few in attendance, even if only back bedroom heroes ... An obvious affection for SRV ... No change there then? ... FEEL....
