台北101（TAIPEI 101）是位於台灣臺北市信義區的摩天大樓，樓高509.2公尺（1,671英尺），地上樓層共有101層、另有地下5層，總樓地板面積37萬4千平方公尺，由李祖原聯合建築師事務所設計、KTRT團隊建造，於1999年動工，2004年12月31日完工啟用；最初名稱為台北國際金融中心（Taipei World Financial Center），2003年改為現名，亦俗稱為101大樓。興建與經營機構為台北金融大樓公司。其為臺灣第一高樓至今，並為兩岸三地第5高的建築物與第4高的摩天大樓(截至2015年)，曾於2004年12月31日至2010年1月4日間擁有世界第一高樓的紀錄，目前為世界第9高樓，同時也是全球最高綠建築及環地震帶最高建築物，完工以來即成為臺北重要地標之一。此外，大樓內擁有全球最大的阻尼器、以及全球起降速度次快的電梯。

Taipei 101
Taipei 101 (Chinese: 臺北101 / 台北101) – stylized as TAIPEI 101 and formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center – is a landmark supertall skyscraper in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. The building was officially classified as the world's tallest in 2004, and remained such until the completion of Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2009. In 2011, the building was awarded the LEED platinum certification, the highest award according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, and became the tallest and largest green building in the world.
Taipei 101 was designed by C.Y. Lee and Partners and was constructed by Samsung C&T and KTRT Joint Venture . Construction on the 101-story tower started in 1999 and finished in 2004. The tower has served as an icon of modern Taiwan ever since its opening. The building was architecturally created as a symbol of the evolution of technology and Asian tradition. Its postmodernist approach to style incorporates traditional design elements and gives them modern treatments. The tower is designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. A multi-level shopping mall adjoining the tower houses hundreds of stores, restaurants and clubs. Fireworks launched from Taipei 101 feature prominently in international New Year's Eve broadcasts and the structure appears frequently in travel literature and international media.

台北101（TAIPEI 101）是位於台灣臺北市信義區的摩天大樓，樓高509.2公尺（1,671英尺），地上樓層共有101層、另有地下5層，總樓地板面積37萬4千平方公尺，由李祖原聯合建築師事務所設計、KTRT團隊建造，於1999年動工，2004年12月31日完工啟用；最初名稱為台北國際金融中心（Taipei World Financial Center），2003年改為現名，亦俗稱為101大樓。興建與經營機構為台北金融大樓公司。其為臺灣第一高樓至今，並為兩岸三地第5高的建築物與第4高的摩天大樓(截至2015年)，曾於2004年12月31日至2010年1月4日間擁有世界第一高樓的紀錄，目前為世界第9高樓，同時也是全球最高綠建築及環地震帶最高建築物，完工以來即成為臺北重要地標之一。此外，大樓內擁有全球最大的阻尼器、以及全球起降速度次快的電梯。 -

Taipei Travel Vlog: Taipei 101, Elephant Mountain & Shilin Night Market
We're traveling Asia and our first stop is in Taipei, Taiwan. Today volg is day one of our trip. We start off our morning saying goodbye to our kitties and off to the airport. We go see Taipei 101, which is the 5th tallest building in the world! We even go inside and up to the observatory deck. Next we hike Elephant Mountain to get an amazing view of the city and Taipei 101. We stay to watch the city lights come on and we made some new friends! Probably one of the most famous things to do in Taipei is go to the Taipei 101, which is the tallest and most iconic building in the city. On the first few floors of the Taipei 101 is a luxury mall, but the most popular attraction is the Taipei 101 Observatory, which is located on the 89th and 91st floors. The entrance price is a pretty steep cost of 500 Taiwan Dollars, but it’s a popular thing to do and I wanted to check it out during out trip. We arrived in the morning, right after they opened at about 9 am, bought our tickets, and went to the elevator to go to the top of the building. The elevator ride, which they claim is the fastest elevator in the world, was quite amazingly fast. It felt like it only took about 10 seconds but in reality it actually took about 40 seconds - but to get to the 89th floor, it was still incredibly fast. Once at the top, it was mostly just an observatory set up specifically for tourists, but still worth it for the amazing views of Taipei city and the surrounding mountains.
After going to the Taipei 101 Observatory, we came down, and there happens to be a branch of Din Tai Fung, the famous Taiwanese soup dumplings restaurant at the Taipei 101. Luckily we arrived quite early when the restaurant wasn’t too busy, so we happen to get seats easily for lunch. I made a separate full video about eating at Din Tai Fung, which I’ll post later.
After lunch, since were were still near the Taipei 101, we decided to go to Elephant Hill, a mountain near Taipei 101 where there are some hiking and nature trails. After figuring out which trail to take, we took a staircase trail, which was well marked out to Elephant Hill. The walk didn’t take more than about 20 minutes, and once we arrived at the Elephant Hill lookout point, we could see the entire skyline of Taipei, but a much different perspective of Taipei from the Taipei 101 Observatory. It was good to see and I enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere and the different perspective of the skyline from the mountain. I would highly recommend going to Elephant Hill when you’re in Taipei.
Next, we rushed off to the Taipei Zoo, one of the largest and most developed zoos in Asia. The price was only 60 TWD, and it was very nice to just spend some time walking around and enjoying both the animals and the impressively lush and tropical zoo grounds. I think the Taipei zoo is one of the great things to do if you have kids, or even you can go just to walk around and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. After the Taipei zoo, we wanted to go to the Maokong Gondola, but due to stormy weather, the Gondola closed, so we had to change our plans.
From the Taipei Zoo, we headed back to the Dongmen area and had a snack of a famous Taiwanese shaved ice, and then we had dinner at a local restaurant.
That was it for Day 4 in Taiwan - pretty cool to have a chance to visit the Taipei 101 Observatory.

Once you’ve attained the guidance and wisdom you may not have realized you sought, head to 228 Peace Park, where you will find the memorial to the 1949 uprisings that eventually led to Taiwan’s independence.
Don’t worry about getting around the city; the Taipei Rapid Transit System, or MRT, will take you just about anywhere you need to go. Hop on it to pay a visit to the National Palace Museum, where you’ll find a giant collection of Chinese art and artifacts. There’s over half a million pieces related to ancient Chinese royalty here, and you can spend days exploring them all.
To plan out your next move, make your way to Taipei 101. This is one of the world’s tallest buildings, and you can soar to the top for a breathtaking view of the city and pick out the next place you’ll visit. Do you see Elephant Mountain? It’s not far from the downtown area, and it’s a short climb to the top for another look at Taipei. Keep up with the nature theme and make your stop the Taipei Zoo, where you’ll meet the largest menagerie of animals in Asia.
Cap off a day of Taipei sightseeing and adventure at Shilin Night Market, where you can join the locals in finding that next great meal or landing a spectacular bargain.

Such as Taipei 101, Elephant mountain, Beitou hot springs, Beitou thermal valley and the Shilin Night Market.We let you know our favorite and least favorite things we did. We also mention how to travel in Taiwan and what transportation to use, such as taxis, buses and metros. We stayed in Hello Taipei Guest House and it was right across from the Shilin Night Market. Well good morning. Today the skies have finally parted. It has stopped raining. So we're going to visit the attraction we've been waiting for. We're heading to Taipei 101 (臺北101 - 台北101). This was the tallest building in the world at one point.
Alright, so you purchase your tickets on the fifth floor. We're going to take the elevator there right now.
How excited are you to ride to the top of Taipei 101 (臺北101 - 台北101)? I'm really excited. I mean this is one of the coolest tower buildings in the world. The views we're going to get it is going to be insane.
It is so futuristic up here. Look at this. And this is where we buy tickets.
So we have the tickets. You paid. You do the math. So it is 600 Taiwan dollars each. So you're basically looking at just under twenty US bucks.
This is amazing. There are no lines. We're like skipping straight through. Yeah, it is eleven fifty on a Monday guys.
So we made it to the top. Yeah, that was crazy. So it took thirty seven seconds. When we both got off we thought man that felt like it was only like five or ten seconds.
So once upon a time this was the tallest building in the world. Taipei 101 (臺北101 - 台北101) actually dethroned the Petronas Towers and then it was dethroned by the Burj Khalifa.
So what do you think of the views?
I mean they're amazing. And because this is one of the tallest towers in the world it just makes everything else in the city look miniature.
We are now heading inside the wind damper (風阻尼器) and this is a giant pendulum. It is six hundred and sixty tonnes and it basically swings inside the building.
Um and it just makes it more stable. It helps it withstand earthquakes, tremors, typhoons. Any kind of harsh weather that comes its way.
So after you visit Taipei 101 (臺北101 - 台北101) you get dropped off inside a mall. And there is a food court where you can grab food. You can eat at Din Tai Fung (鼎泰豐 - 鼎泰丰) or you can do a little bit of shopping. So we're going to give you a quick tour of the mall.
So there is one thing we can afford. We can afford lunch. And one of our favorite restaurants has a chain here. It is Din Tai Fung (鼎泰豐 - 鼎泰丰) let's go eat.
And check this out. They've even had Tom Cruise as a guest making Xiaolongbao (小籠包 - 小笼包) here.
So if you are feeling peckish after your visit to Taipei 101 (臺北101 - 台北101) you have to come to Din Tai Fung (鼎泰豐 - 鼎泰丰). This is one of our favorite restaurants in Taipei. We've eaten at the original location like three days in a row now.
So we thought why not make it a forth, right?
We have an entire separate vlog just of that. Yeah, so you can check out that video but we're still going to show you a few clips of this meal because we've ordered a few different dishes and it is just such a beautiful meal. I mean you need to see. And it is in Taipei 101 (臺北101 - 台北101) so it just makes sense.
Yeah, so the Xiao Long Bao (小籠包 - 小笼包) has arrived if you look down here that is the star of the meal. Woah. These are the Taiwanese soup dumplings.
So we are trying something new at Din Tai Fung (鼎泰豐 - 鼎泰丰) and we never had this before so we'd thought we'd show you this.
So these are steamed buns. Are these the chocolate ones?
I think they are the chocolate ones. Oh. Steamed chocolate buns.
And last but not least how do we get here?
So it is super easy to get here. You just the MRT, you go on the red line and you get off at Taipei 101 station (台北101/世貿站) and take exit four.
