Nelson Alexander "Alex" Ross (born January 22, 1970) is an American comic book writer/artist known primarily for his painted interiors, covers, and design work. He first became known with the 1994 miniseries Marvels, on which he collaborated with writer Kurt Busiek for Marvel Comics. He has since done a variety of projects for both Marvel and DC Comics, such as the 1996 miniseries Kingdom Come, which Ross co-wrote. Since then he has done covers and character designs for Busiek's series Astro City, and various projects for Dynamite Entertainment. His feature film work includes concept and narrative art for Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, and DVD packaging art for the M. Night Shyamalan film, Unbreakable. He has done covers for TV Guide, promotional artwork for the Academy Awards, posters and packaging design for video games, and his renditions of superheroes have been merchandised as action figures.
Ross' style has been said to exhibit "a Norman-Rockwell-meets-George-Pérez vibe", and has been praised for its realistic, human depictions of classic comic book characters. His rendering style, his attention to detail, and the perceived tendency of his characters to be depicted staring off into the distance in cover images has been satirized in Mad magazine. Because of the time it takes Ross to produce his art, he primarily serves as a plotter and/or cover artist. Comics Buyer's Guide Senior Editor Maggie Thompson, commenting on that publication's retirement of the Favorite Painter award from their CBG Fan Awards due to Ross' domination of that category, stated in 2010, "Ross may simply be the field's Favorite Painter, period. That's despite the fact that many outstanding painters are at work in today's comic books."
Ross Perry (born 7 February 1990) is a Scottish footballer centre back who plays for Brechin City. He has previously played for Rangers, Oxford United, Falkirk, Raith Rovers and Northampton Town.
Perry's first appearance for Rangers came in a post-season friendly match against Los Angeles Galaxy at the Home Depot Center, coming on as a substitute for David Weir. This made him the first player born in the 1990s to play for the Rangers first team. Perry signed a two-year contract extension in October 2007.
On 28 August 2009, he joined Oxford United on a season-long loan. On 11 February 2011, he joined Falkirk in another loan spell, until the end of the 2010-11 season.
Perry made his professional Rangers debut in the Scottish Premier League on 13 August 2011, replacing Kyle Bartley in a match against Inverness CT. A week later, Perry was given his first start for Rangers, and played the full 90 minutes, helping keep a clean sheet in a 3-0 win away to Motherwell.
On 9 September 2011, Perry signed a new four-year contract with Rangers. The company operating Rangers entered administration in 2012 and was unable to agree a deal with its creditors. Perry's contract was transferred to the new company operating the club.
Alex Ross Perry (born July 14, 1984) is an American film director, screenwriter and actor.
Perry was raised in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, where he worked on a local television news program during high school. After graduating, he moved to New York City to attend NYU. He graduated from NYU's film program in 2006. From 2005 to 2007, Perry worked at the East Village-based video store Kim's Video, where he met many of the cast and crew members who would later work on his films, including director of photography Sean Price Williams. He was influenced by Philip Roth,Vincent Gallo,Jerry Lewis, and Thomas Pynchon.
Perry's first feature, Impolex, premiered in 2009. Made on a budget of $15,000 and shot on 16mm film stock, the film is an absurdist comedy inspired by Thomas Pynchon's novel Gravity's Rainbow. The film was released theatrically in 2011.
Perry's second feature, The Color Wheel, premiered at festivals in 2011. The film, a dark screwball comedy influenced by the work of Philip Roth, was co-written by Perry with Carlen Altman; the two also played the lead roles in the film. The film was named the best undistributed film of 2011 by the Indiewire and Village Voice polls, and placed 12th in a similar poll conducted by Film Comment. It was released theatrically on May 18, 2012.
Queen of Earth is a 2015 American psychological thriller film directed and written by Alex Ross Perry. The film stars Elisabeth Moss, Katherine Waterston and Patrick Fugit.
Catherine and Virginia, two women who grew up together, spend a week together at a lake house retreat, as they did the previous year. This time, however, Catherine's mood (and possibly her sanity) has been affected by the death of her father, as well as the ending of a relationship, and the women realize they have drifted apart.
On July 30, 2014, it was announced that Alex Ross Perry would direct the psychological thriller film which he wrote about two women at a beach house, in which Elisabeth Moss would star as lead, while Joe Swanberg would be producer. On August 21, Michelle Dockery joined the film to star as lead opposite Moss. On September 17, Katherine Waterston was added to the cast to replace Dockery for her role, which Dockery exited due to scheduling conflicts. On September 18, Patrick Fugit was cast to play a friend of one of the women in the film, who also comes to beach to spend time with her. Perry would also produce the film along with Swanberg and Adam Piotrowicz.
