Gerald Arthur "Jerry" Sandusky (born January 26, 1944) is a convicted serial child molester and retired American football coach. Sandusky served as an assistant coach for his entire career, mostly at Pennsylvania State University under Joe Paterno (from 1969 to 1999). He received Assistant Coach of the Year awards in 1986 and 1999. Sandusky authored several books related to his football coaching experiences.
In 1977, Sandusky founded The Second Mile, a non-profit charity serving Pennsylvania underprivileged and at-risk youth. After Sandusky retired as assistant coach at Penn State, he continued working with The Second Mile at Penn State, maintaining an office at Penn State until 2011.
In 2011, following a two-year grand jury investigation, Sandusky was arrested and charged with 52 counts of sexual abuse of young boys over a 15-year period from 1994 to 2009. He met his molestation victims through The Second Mile, who were children participating in the organization, and several of them testified against Sandusky in his sexual abuse trial. Four of the charges were subsequently dropped. On June 22, 2012, Sandusky was found guilty on 45 of the 48 remaining charges. Sandusky was sentenced on October 9, 2012 to 30 to 60 years in prison—at his age, effectively a life sentence. On October 18, 2012, Sandusky's lawyers appealed his conviction in Centre County Court in Pennsylvania. They claim that they did not have enough time to prepare for their client's case. On October 31, 2012, Sandusky was moved to Pennsylvania's SCI Greene "supermax" prison to serve his sentence. On January 30, 2013, Pennsylvania Judge John Cleland denied Sandusky's request for a new trial.

Jim Clemente (retired FBI and current Criminal Minds writer/producer) goes in depth on the case of Jerry Sandusky and the extent of Joe Paterno's involvement in any cover-up. GUEST BIO: Jim Clemente is a retired FBI agent and current advisor, writer and producer for the TV series "Criminal Minds." A graduate of Fordham University School of Law, Jim was the head of the Child Sex Crimes Prosecution Team in Bronx County for the New York City Law Department. In a VERY exclusive interview with www.FramingPaterno.com, Jerry Sandusky speaks from prison about the 1998 episode (the first allegation made against him, which was determined by investigators to be "unfounded") & his retirement from Penn State. This is Sandusky's only interview since going on trial, by FAR the most extensive he has ever done, and likely the last that he will ever do which is recorded. Here is a transcript of the interview: http://www.framingpaterno.com/sites/default/files/Sandusky.prisonrevised.pdf. The portion in the video begins on Page 9.

In 1977, former Pennsylvania State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky founded the children's charity the Second Mile, an organization designed to nurture underprivileged and at-risk youths. In 2012, Sandusky was convicted on 45 counts of child sexual abuse, and most of the victims who testified in the trial said they had met him through the Second Mile. (The organization, however, has never been charged with wrongdoing.) Another child who met Jerry Sandusky through the Second Mile was Matthew, whose single mother enrolled him in the camp to provide him with positive male role models. Matthew was eventually adopted by Jerry Sandusky, and revealed near the end of the 2012 trial that he had been sexually molested for years by his adoptive father. Watch as Matthew reflects on h...

If you find yourself standing
At the end of your line
Looking for a piece of something
Maybe a piece of mind
Fed up, lost, and run down
Nowhere to hold on
Tired of, take your place at the end son
We'll get to you one by one
No light ever shines
Dead end tears that dry
Maybe a waste of words and time
Never a waste of life
Every hour will be spent
Filling a quota, just getting alonghandcuffs hurt worse
When you've done nothing wrong
No thanks to the treadmill
No thanks to the grindstone
There's plenty of dissent from
These rungs below
The clockwork of destruction
Hanging low over our heads
Always a smokestack cloud
Or a slow-walking death
No light ever shines
Dead end tears that dry
Maybe a waste of words and time
Never a waste of life
No thanks to the treadmill
No thanks to the grindstone
There's plenty of dissent from
These rungs below
