Desmond's is a British television situation comedy broadcast by Channel 4 from 1989 to 1994. With 71 episodes, Desmond's became Channel 4's longest-running sitcom. The first series was shot in 1988, with the first episode broadcast in January 1989. The show was made in and set in Peckham, south-east London, England and featured a predominantly Black British Guyanese cast.
Conceived and co-written by Trix Worrell, and produced by Charlie Hanson and Humphrey Barclay, this series starred Norman Beaton as barber Desmond Ambrose. Desmond's shop was a gathering place for an assortment of local characters.
While the show was not the first black (or predominantly black) British television situation comedy (The Fosters, 1976-77), it was the first to be set mainly in the workplace, which provided an insight on black family life different from those seen before on British television. The characters had aspirations (Desmond to return to Guyana, Michael to run his own branch of the bank, Gloria to get a job in fashion, Sean to get to university) and were socially mobile. The vast majority of the crew were also black.
CBS This Morning is an American morning television program that is broadcast on CBS. The program, which shares its title with a more traditionally formatted morning program that aired on the network from 1987 to 1999, airs Monday through Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in all time zones (airing live in the Eastern Time Zone and on tape-delay in the Central and Mountain Time Zones; stations in the Pacific Time Zone receive an updated feed with a specialized opening and updated live reports). It is the tenth distinct morning news-features program format that CBS has aired since 1954, having replaced The Early Show on January 9, 2012.
The weekday edition of the program is currently anchored by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. The program emphasizes general national and international news stories and in-depth reports throughout each edition, although it also includes live in-studio and pre-taped interviews. The format was chosen as an alternative to the soft news and lifestyle-driven formats of competitors Today and Good Morning America following the first hour or half-hour of those broadcasts, in an attempt to give the program a competitive edge with its hard news format (CBS has historically placed third in the ratings among the network morning shows).

In Canada, Viola Desmond will become the first civilian woman to be on the country's $10 bill next year. Never heard of her? Up until a few years ago, neither did many Canadians. But her story is giving context to assumptions on Canada's history that the nation - free of slavery, free of legal segregation - was not so free of racism. Michelle Miller reports. it's the eighth episode of the third season of lost in which we see the following: Desmond says that he didn't come for a job, but rather he came to ask for Penny's hand in marriage. Widmore seems impressed by Desmond's gesture. He then goes to his bar and gets a bottle of McCutcheon whiskey. He explains the story behind the whiskey and then says that one sip is worth more than what Desmond could make in a month. He says that Desmond is not worthy of drinking his whiskey let alone marrying his daughter because Desmond will never be a great man. it has greek subs.
