Responsibilities & Skills

Travel and tourism positions are usually customer-focused and an outgoing people-person is likely to be a good fit. However, the responsibilities and skills vary depending on the industry, employer, and the position being filled. While a hotel manager will be responsible for organizing work schedules, preparing and monitoring budgets, and greeting customers, a travel agent will need to book trips, collect deposits, and contact customers. If you have strong communication skills and enjoy working with people, you'll likely excel in the travel industry.
