The Navajo (Navajo: Diné or Naabeehó) are a Native American people of the Southwestern United States. They are the second largest federally recognized tribe in the United States with 300,460 enrolled tribal members as of 2015. The Navajo Nation constitutes an independent governmental body that manages the Navajo reservation in the Four Corners area, including over 27,000 square miles of land in Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. The Navajo language is spoken throughout the region with most Navajo speaking English as well.
The states with the largest Navajo populations are Arizona (140,263) and New Mexico (108,306). Over three-quarters of the Navajo population reside in these two states.
Until contact with Pueblos and the Spanish, the Navajo were largely hunters and gatherers. The tribe adopted crop farming techniques from the Pueblo peoples, growing mainly corn, beans, and squash. When the Spanish arrived, the Navajo began herding sheep and goats as a main source of trade and food, with meat becoming an essential component of the Navajo diet. Sheep also became a form of currency and status symbol among the Navajo based on the overall quantity of herds a family maintained. In addition, the practice of spinning and weaving wool into blankets and clothing became common and eventually developed into a form of highly valued artistic expression.
A short film is any film not long enough to be considered a feature film. Although no consensus exists as to where that boundary is drawn, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits". The term featurette originally applied to a film longer than a short subject, but shorter than a standard feature film.
The increasingly rare term short subject means approximately the same thing. An industry term, it carries more of an assumption that the film is shown as part of a presentation along with a feature film. Short is an abbreviation for either term. Short films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals and made by independent filmmakers for non profit, either with a low budget or no budget at all. They are usually funded by film grants, non profit organizations, sponsor, or personal funds. Short films are generally used by filmmakers to gain experience and/or prove their talent in order to gain funding for future films from private investors, entertainment companies, or film studios.

The Navajo Nation (Navajo: Naabeehó Bináhásdzo) is a semi-autonomous Native American-governed territory covering 27,425 square miles (71,000 km2), occupying portions of northeastern Arizona, southeastern Utah, and northwestern New Mexico in the United States. It is the largest land area retained by a U.S. tribe and is managed via agreements with the United States Congress as a sovereign Native-American nation.
The Navajo Nation is one of the largest tribal governments of the North American Indian Nations with a land base larger than the state of West Virginia. Its institutions include a judicial system, a legislative house, an executive office, a large law enforcement and social services apparatus, Health Services, Diné College, and other local educational trusts.
In English, the official name for the area was "Navajo Indian Reservation", as outlined in Article II of the 1868 Navajo Treaty. On April 15, 1969, the official name used by the government and displayed on the seal was changed to "Navajo Nation". In 1994, a proposal to change the official designation from "Navajo" to "Diné" was rejected by the Council. It was remarked that the name Diné represented the time of suffering before the Long Walk, and that Navajo is the appropriate designation for the future.
The Super Chief was one of the named passenger trains and the flagship of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. It claimed to be "The Train of the Stars" because of the celebrities it carried between Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California.
The Super Chief (Nos. 17 & 18) was the first Diesel-powered, all-Pullman sleeping car train in America, and it eclipsed the Chief as Santa Fe's standard bearer. The extra-fare ($10) Super Chief left Dearborn Station in Chicago for its first trip on May 12, 1936. Before starting scheduled service in May 1937, the lightweight version of the Super Chief ran 2,227 miles (3,584 km) from Los Angeles over recently upgraded tracks in 36 hours and 49 minutes, averaging 60 mph (97 km/h) overall and reaching 100 mph (160 km/h).
With one set of equipment, the train initially operated once a week from both Chicago and Los Angeles. After more cars had been delivered the Super Chief ran twice weekly beginning in 1938 and daily after 1948. Adding to the train's mystique were its gourmet meals and Hollywood clientele.

Navajo Nation is the largest Native American territory in the country, sprawling across nearly 28,000 square miles and three states. It can be hard to find your way around, and not just because the lands are mostly rural. The majority of homes and businesses in Navajo Nation don’t have addresses. Navajo Nation is split into 110 chapters, and about 70 of them don’t have street names or numbered addresses, which adds up to at least 50,000 unmarked properties. “We don’t have fancy roads and streets that go North, East, South, West, in a grid system,” rural addressing supervisor M.C. Baldwin told VICE News correspondent Nellie Bowles. “Our roads are going all over the place.” Watch: "Why the fight for Standing Rock isn't over" - http://bit.ly/2kvgEdP Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit...

When people want to learn conversational Navajo, they always want to learn how to say, "How are you doing?" There are ways to say this, namely: Hait'áo naniná? Haa lá ánít'é? You can ask these but they're not usually conversation starters. These are used if you know the person is not emotionally doing well or physically sick or something. A better way to begin a conversation is to use the starter, "A̜a̜'." This phrase literally means "open up," but can also mean like, "tell me about it." It can be used alone in the right scenario or used in combination with starter questions: A̜a̜' ha'íí baa naniná? What are you doing? A̜a̜' ha'íí baa nídinídzá? What will you be doing? A̜a̜' ha'íí baa nisíníyá? What were you doing? A̜a̜' háágóó díníya? Where are you going? A̜a̜' háágóó nisíníyá? W...

Here is a short video I made for the Las Vegas Citizen's Commitee for Historic Preservation which is doing a much larger project called "Memories of Migration" a national wide project that explores local history of immigration, the project can range from people coming from the east coast to move west during the westward expansion or in this case, a forced migration, such is the story of the Navajo Long Walk. One of the many tragic events involving the native people of America. Explore for Indian Reservation:Monument Valley is a Navajo Nation tribal park, straddling the border of northeastern Arizona and southeastern Utah of the Colorado Plateau. It preserves the Navajo way of life and some of the most striking and recognizable landscapes of sandstone buttes, mesas and spires in the entire Southwest. The area is entirely within the Navajo Indian Reservation near the small Indian town of Goulding, established in 1923 as a trading post, and now has a comprehensive range of visitor services. There is new hotel in the park called The View, there are also lodging available at the Goulding's Lodge and Trading Post.
During a tour of Monument Valley, we happened on another tour group whose guide treated us to this Navajo "traveling song". It is sung before undertaking a journey, to ensure safe arrival at the destination.

Travel video about destination Monument Valley in The USA. For many years Monument Valley and its distinctive mesas in the northern part of Arizona have become one of the most famous natural landmarks in the United States. The region was populated many thousands of years ago by the Native American Indians and there are traces of the Anasazi Tribe, an ancient and once highly developed culture. The characteristic colour of the terrain is mainly to due to ferrous oxide and occasionally black veins of manganese oxide can also be seen in the rock. However, Monument Valley's main feature is the stunning beauty of its various spectacular rock needles and towers. For the local Navajo Indians the gigantic columns mean more than just picturesque scenery as they have a close and sacred relationship with...

Travel video about nature park Canyon de Chelly in the USA. There are few places in the USA that, like the Canyon De Chelly, are both a national monument of Indian culture and at the same time contain a magnificent rocky landscape that attracts the serious as well as the most casual lover of Nature. The nature reservation’s rocky terrain is formed by two long arms of land that consist of the southern Canyon De Chelly and the northern Canyon Del Muerto. This rocky landscape is located in the northeast of Arizona and in the middle of Dinétah´s heart, ancient Navajo Indian territory that today contains their reservation. I fell in love with a little Indian girl
And she stole my heart away
She took me to a pow-wow way out on the plains
And runs with bears, danced and brought the rains
I listened to the stories all through the night
Through the haze of that peace pipe
The night grew long so i found a tee pee
And you can bet I brought that squall girl with me
Could be Cherokee, Inuit, Etowah, Navajo,
Sioux, Creek, Apache, Seminole bravo
Tomahawk, arrow, any way the wind blow
It's just fine with me
Buffalo, wolfpack, rawhide knapsack
Arrowhead, mohawk, other tribe to attack
Take my wife back to that land with me
All I gotta do is take that love to the floor
