Las Vegas (/lɑːs ˈveɪɡəs/, also locally /lɑːs ˈvɛɡᵻs/; Spanish: [laz ˈβeɣas]) officially the City of Las Vegas and often known as simply Vegas, is a city in the United States, the most populous city in the state of Nevada, the county seat of Clark County, and the city proper of the Las Vegas Valley. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural center for Southern Nevada.
The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its mega casino–hotels and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, Las Vegas is the 29th-most populous city in the United States, with a population of 603,488 at the 2013 United States Census Estimates. The 2013 population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area was 2,027,828. The city is one of the top three leading destinations in the United States for conventions, business, and meetings. In addition, the city's metropolitan area has more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the world, and is a global leader in the hospitality industry. Today, Las Vegas is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
XFL, LLC was a professional American football league operated as the XFL, founded by World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) owner Vince McMahon. With eight teams (all fully owned by the league corporation) in two divisions, it was intended to be a major professional sports league complement to the offseason of the National Football League, but was unable to find an audience and ceased operation after its debut season in 2001. The XFL was widely ridiculed; McMahon conceded that the league was a "colossal failure".
Created as a 50–50 joint venture between NBCUniversal and WWF-owned subsidiary WWE Properties International, Inc. under the company name "XFL, LLC", the XFL was created as a "single-entity league", meaning that the teams were not individually owned and operated franchises (as in the NFL), but that the league was operated as a single business unit. Vince McMahon's original plan was to purchase the Canadian Football League (after the CFL initially approached him about purchasing the Toronto Argonauts), while NBC was moving ahead at the time with Time Warner to create a football league of their own.
Sports Illustrated is an American sports media franchise owned by Time Inc. Its self-titled magazine has over 3 million subscribers and is read by 23 million people each week, including over 18 million men. It was the first magazine with circulation over one million to win the National Magazine Award for General Excellence twice. Its swimsuit issue, which has been published since 1964, is now an annual publishing event that generates its own television shows, videos and calendars.
There were two magazines named Sports Illustrated before the current magazine began on August 16, 1954. In 1936, Stuart Scheftel created Sports Illustrated with a target market for the sportsman. He published the magazine from 1936–1938 on a monthly basis. The magazine was a life magazine size and focused on golf, tennis, and skiing with articles on the major sports. He then sold the name to Dell Publications, which released Sports Illustrated in 1949 and this version lasted 6 issues before closing. Dell's version focused on major sports (baseball, basketball, boxing) and competed on magazine racks against Sport and other monthly sports magazines. During the 1940s these magazines were monthly and they did not cover the current events because of the production schedules. There was no large-base general weekly sports magazine with a national following on actual active events. It was then that Time patriarch Henry Luce began considering whether his company should attempt to fill that gap. At the time, many believed sports was beneath the attention of serious journalism and did not think sports news could fill a weekly magazine, especially during the winter. A number of advisers to Luce, including Life magazine's Ernest Havemann, tried to kill the idea, but Luce, who was not a sports fan, decided the time was right.
Las Vegas Outlaws may refer to:
Vincent Kennedy "Vince" McMahon (born August 24, 1945) is an American professional wrestling promoter, former announcer, commentator, film producer, actor, and retired professional wrestler. Since taking over the company from his father in the 1980s McMahon has always worked in the corporate area of the WWE as well as behind the scenes. He currently serves as the majority owner, chairman, and CEO of the professional wrestling promotion.
McMahon has also occasionally competed as a professional wrestler using a gimmick known by the ring name Mr. McMahon, based on his real life persona. He is a two-time world champion, having won the WWF Championship in 1999 and ECW World Championship in 2007, and is the 1999 Royal Rumble winner. He headlined multiple pay-per-view events from 1999 to 2000 and participated in the main event of WrestleMania 2000, as a cornerman for The Rock. In singles competition, McMahon holds victories over former WWF/E Champions Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Triple H. McMahon continues his backstage and on-screen roles as the main Authority figure along with the rest of the McMahon family.
The XFL's opening game took place on February 3, 2001, one year after the concept of the league was announced, and immediately following the NFL's Super Bowl. The first game was between the New York/New Jersey Hitmen and the Las Vegas Outlaws at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The game ended with a 19-0 victory for the Outlaws, and was watched on NBC by an estimated 14 million viewers. During the telecast, NBC switched over to the game between the Orlando Rage and the Chicago Enforcers, which was a closer contest than the blowout taking place in Las Vegas. The show had a 9.5 Nielsen rating. Outlaw Paul McCallum got his team on the board first by nailing a 23 yard field goal in the first quarter and the Outlaws never looked back. Not wanting to be outdone by their offense, the hardcore Outl...

The XFL's quirky Scramble, which took the place of the coin toss to determine who would have first choice of possession. This was the very first one, from the first XFL game ever, on February 3, 2001, and matched Jamel Williams of the Las Vegas Outlaws against Donnie Caldwell of the New York/New Jersey Hitmen. Were it not for the potential for career-ending injury (which actually happened to Hassan Shamsid-Deen of the Orlando Rage), this would have been a much more exciting way to start a football game.
ESPN’s 30 for 30 series is one of the best things they produce, and it just got a whole lot better. A few months ago, the network announced plans Thursday for a short film on the XFL, titled “This Was the XFL,” which will air on ESPN in February. After the latest episode 'Catholics vs. Convicts' ended, ESPN released the first trailer for the next film.
The Los Angeles Xtreme won the first and only championship of the XFL, beating the San Francisco Demons 38-6 on April 21, 2001.

A fascinating glimpse into the non-stop entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, that offers a great deal more than the gambling casinos for which it's famous. There's the Luxor Hotel that was built at a cost of 400 million dollars and contains 2,526 rooms and an atrium that can accommodate nine jumbo jets. This is in stark contrast to the Excalibur Hotel that evokes King Arthur and his Round Table. Even the New York skyline is on full view and features Greenwich Village, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty and a screeching roller-coaster ride above the residential quarters of New York! I love my city more than anything- the bright lights on screens as you drive down Las Vegas Boulevard, the delicious treats at Sprinkles and Serendipity 3, most of all the fact that any weekend can be made into an occasion. One of my biggest blessings is that what some people travel miles to see is just 20 minutes away from my house. I'm going to miss it so much when I'm up in Logan starting the next chapter of my life! I'm absolutely convinced that Vegas will always hold a piece of my heart though. With that said I want to share a project I've been working on for months that captures my favorite spots in the city. Having called Vegas home for the past 10 years, I'd like to think I know my way around pretty well. For every friend's birthday or high school dance I'd be down on the strip en...

From the series http://formento2.com/projects/circumstance/ In November 2009, Formento+Formento packed their home and 3 Siamese cats into their 27ft silver Airstream and began their epic cross country adventure. Armed with a small budget for everything from gas to styling, the plan was 5 months, 25 states and 50 women. With just the two of them to produce, style and shoot the entire production, they used googlemap as their travel guide and they embraced the open road, often scouting locations, meeting women and shooting them on the same day. Paying homage to the work of Hitchcock, with influences of Cindy Sherman, as well as Edward Hopper - a prominent American realist painter who made solitude and introspection an important theme in his painting – ‘Circumstance’ is a body of work that e...
--- http://MovingPostcard.com --- Downtown Las Vegas, centered around Fremont Street, is the historic alternative to the Las Vegas Strip. It's where it all began, when it comes to gambling, booze and broads... and spontaneous brides... When Scott and I traveled to Las Vegas to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, we already knew we'd be headed to downtown Las Vegas for a renewal of vows ceremony at the Graceland Wedding Chapel with Las Vegas Elvis. But it was Scott's brother, Stephen Conklin, who lives in Las Vegas, who suggested we also experience the historic downtown at night. Can't deny the suggestion of a local! So on Anniversary Eve, he whisked us away from The Strip for a fun night out around Fremont Street. We started with dinner at Oscar's Steakhouse in the Plaza Hotel. The r...
Rev. In Jin Moon's Lovin' Life Ministries Sermon, Dec. 5, 2010 Good morning, brothers and sisters. How is everyone? It’s been a while since I’ve seen you. We spent a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with our True Parents in Las Vegas, and we got to meet our West Coast members once again. Our True Father gave his heart in addressing those who attended the World Assembly 2010. Father’s heart as the True Parent of humankind is to invest in his children, his eternal sons and daughters, so they can truly become great men and women of God. I’m realizing this as Father visits us more and more often, especially in Las Vegas. I told the congregation there that I’ve often wondered, why Las Vegas? Of course Father wants to turn Sin City into a shining city on a hill by injecting a little bit of he...

If you only knew
That I would miss you
Like the stars above

You know I'll be right here
'Cause you can count on me

Wonder of my world
I'm somehow lost for words
You are the the life

My love for you remains
In my heart
You are my world
You are my world
When I think of you
Everything
We've been through
There's so much to see
Don't give up on me
Just keep holding on
You are the
Wonder of my world

In my heart
You are my world

We'd come this far
You know there's
A place for us
All this time
