Pretty much the same video, but with the effects broken down for your enjoyment. Software used: Blender, Syntheyes, Photoshop, After Effects, Fraps Further details: I used fraps to record a custom level I made. I then filmed the scene, trying to make the movement match the game's movement so the two shots would line up better. The most important part here was altering the field of view of the player in the game so that it matched the FOV of the real footage. (Think of field of view like a zoom. The more zoomed in you are, the less field of view you have). Amnesia gives you about 114 degrees of view, whereas my camera only gives me about 49. I took the real shot, stabilized it with respect to the door at the end of the hallway, then tracked that onto the doorway in Amnesia so that as the camera turned, the real footage would turn with it. After I go through the doorway, I gradually decreased the amount of influence the stabilization had until it was back to the regular shot. Because the edges of the screen at that point are black anyways, I didn't have to worry about filling in gaps created by shifting the layer away from the edges of the frame, just fill it in with black! The door shattering effect is just the After Effects shatter effect setup to (VERY roughly) mimic the camera move (I mean REALLY rough... I think I had like... 2 key frames?) After Effects users: in order to get motion blur to work on the shatter effect, you need to precomp your shatter layer, and on that comp apply the CC Force Motion Blur effect. Don't leave home without it. The shots with the brute use more or less the exact same process I used for my "Grunt in real life" video, so just look at the breakdown for that one.
