Christian democracy

Christian democracy is a political ideology which emerged in nineteenth-century Europe under the influence of conservatism and Catholic social teaching. It was originally conceived as a combination of traditional Catholic beliefs and modern democratic ideas, but over time it grew to incorporate a variety of views from different Christian denominations and from different political thinkers. Christian democracy continues to be influential in Europe and Latin America, though throughout Europe the movement has been weakened by growing secularism.

In practice, Christian democracy is often considered centre-right on cultural, social, and moral issues (and is thus a supporter of social conservatism), while advocating a social market economy. In Europe, where Christian democrats defined their views as an alternative to the more leftist ideology of social democracy, Christian democratic parties are moderately conservative and center-right overall, whereas in the very different cultural and political environment of South America they tend to lean to the left in economical issues, and to the right in social issues.

In Europe, where their opponents have traditionally been secularist socialists, Christian democratic parties are moderately conservative overall, whereas in the very different cultural and political environment of Latin America they tend to lean to the left. It is the dominant political movement in Europe.

Christian

A Christian ( pronunciation ) is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. "Christian" derives from the Koine Greek word Christós (Χριστός), a translation of the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach.

There are diverse interpretations of Christianity which sometimes conflict. However, "Whatever else they might disagree about, Christians are at least united in believing that Jesus has a unique significance." The term "Christian" is also used adjectivally to describe anything associated with Christianity, or in a proverbial sense "all that is noble, and good, and Christ-like." It is also used as a label to identify people who associate with the cultural aspects of Christianity, irrespective of personal religious beliefs or practices.

According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were 2.2 billion Christians around the world in 2010, up from about 600 million in 1910. By 2050, the Christian population is expected to exceed 3 billion. According to a 2012 Pew Research Center survey Christianity will remain the world's largest religion in 2050, if current trends continue.

Jesse Lee Peterson

Jesse Lee Peterson (born May 22, 1949) is president and founder of BOND (the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny), an American religious nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to "Rebuilding the Family by Rebuilding the Man."

Early life

Peterson was born in Midway, Alabama, and raised in Comer Hill, Alabama. His mother and father moved to Gary, Indiana, and East Chicago, Indiana, respectively, where they separately started new families of their own. Peterson remained in Comer Hill with his grandparents, who worked on the same white-owned plantation where his ancestors had been slaves a century earlier. Peterson lived with his mother and stepfather in Gary as a teenager and moved to Los Angeles as a young adult.

Political involvement

Peterson has been involved with several television news interviews. He places his political opinion about events and problems regarding civil rights or the Black community. Peterson is also the president and founder of "BOND", (Brotherhood Of a New Destiny) a non profit religious group based on the vision of racial equality and uniting the races, hence the quote Uniting the races with truth, instead of dividing them with lies."
