Blondie is an American rock band founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was a pioneer in the early American new wave and punk scenes of the mid-late 1970s. Its first two albums contained strong elements of these genres, and although successful in the United Kingdom and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978. Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles including "Call Me", "Atomic" and "Heart of Glass" and became noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco, pop, rap, and reggae, while retaining a basic style as a new wave band.
Blondie broke up after the release of its sixth studio album The Hunter in 1982. Debbie Harry continued to pursue a solo career with varied results after taking a few years off to care for partner Chris Stein, who was diagnosed with pemphigus, a rare autoimmune disease of the skin.
The band re-formed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with "Maria" in 1999, exactly 20 years after their first UK No.1 single ("Heart of Glass").

The next morning, Tom rides into the town to buy supplies and sees Sam, the grocer, humiliating his employee Jo. At the same time the cattle lord Grimsell arrives in town with two gunfighters, Gunn and Blondie, and tells the Preacher that he will be crossing 20,000 head of cattle through their lands and their town. Although the preacher tries to explain that the people own the land, Grimsell is not interested in their rights. When Blondie sees Tom Early, he draws his gun but is shot by Tom, in self defense, and kills the gunman. He then invites Jo to work on the farm. While the Preacher wants to send an emissary to Laramie to bring the law to his town, Grimsell summons more than thirty gunfighters to work for him. When the emissary is murdered by Gunn, the naive Preacher organizes a posse to unsuccessfully fight against Grimsell. The farmers are ambushed and attacked and the survivors return to the town. But Tom Early decides to provoke a stampede and fight against Grimsell.

Blondie/Debbie Harry Performing at Ray-Ban District 1937 Event
Clem Burke playing the intro from Blondie's 'Dreaming' at the event to receive his Doctorate @ the University of Gloucestershire. 31st July 2011.
Blondie may have gotten started in the gritty underground of the New York punk scene of the 1970s, but their penchant for crafting sunny pop hooks quickly made them New Wave superstars. Hits like "Heart of Glass" and "Call Me" still resonate today, while their seamless weave of disco, rap, punk and reggae set the template for many bands that followed. They'll play an intimate set just for YouTube this Wednesday, October 10th. Event will be moderated by Sergio Kletnoy music editor at Marie Claire, and pop culture columnist for Daily Front Row.

Blondie/Debbie Harry Performing at Ray-Ban District 1937 Event
The recent Rhythmfest drum course kicked off with a very special event - the presentation of an honorary doctotorate to Blondie drummer Clem Burke at the University of Gloucestershire. Clem was honoured by the University for his work with the Clem Burke Drumming Project, launched in 2008 in collaboration with the University of Gloucestershire and the University of Chichester. The Project is based on the pursuit of knowledge using scientific methods to investigate the physical health implications of drumming. You may remember reading that research revealed that professional drummers had a heart rate profile similar to professional footballers and expended a significant amount of energy per performance. Following the presentation Clem got behind a kit and proceeded to demonstrate the p...

Blondie is a radio situation comedy adapted from the long-run Blondie comic strip by Chic Young. The radio program had a long run on several networks from 1939 to 1950. After Penny Singleton was cast in the title role of the feature film Blondie (1938), co-starring with Arthur Lake as Dagwood (the first in a series of 28 produced by Columbia Pictures); she and Lake repeated their roles December 20, 1938, on The Pepsodent Show starring Bob Hope. The appearance with Hope led to their own show, beginning July 3, 1939, on CBS as a summer replacement for The Eddie Cantor Show. However, Cantor did not return in the fall, so the sponsor, R.J. Reynolds' Camel Cigarettes chose to keep Blondie on the air Mondays at 7:30pm. Camel remained the sponsor through the early WWII years until June 26, 1944. ...

Short film of the band performing Love at the Pier and Detroit 442 with backstage footage
Blondie is an American rock band founded by singer Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was a pioneer in the early American new wave and punk rock scenes of the mid-1970s. "Heart of Glass" was their first U.S. hit. The disco-infused track topped the U.S. charts in April 1979. It was a reworking of a rock- and reggae-infused song that the group had performed since its formation, updated with strong elements of disco music. Clem Burke later said the revamped version was inspired partly by Kraftwerk and partly by the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive", whose drum beat Burke tried to emulate. He and Stein gave Jimmy Destri much of the credit for the final result, noting that Destri's appreciation of technology had led him to introduce synthesizers and to rework the keyboard sections. A segment from the long running Australian music TV series Countdown, which aired on the ABC from 1974-1987. Born of pop, punk, and new wave, and flirting with hip hop, disco, even avant garde, Blondie encapsulated emerging movements in modern American music from their inception in 1974. And now as they celebrate their 40th Anniversary Year, they have no intentions of stopping. Their status as a cultural touchstone in the worlds of music, fashion and art is cemented not just by enduring hits and 40 million records sold, but by multiple generations of fans (oh, and a little Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction). Blondie’s new single, “Sugar On The Side,” is out now and the band will release a new album package this spring. You, you got me in trouble.
Whatcha gonna do about it?
You, you got me in trouble.
Whatcha gonna do?
One end tied to your finger for remembering.
Who's the one likes to tease his kitten with the other end of the string?
But what ever it is, you got the biz.
I can't resist, no!
Two lines out to the life boats.
Your line's holding me.
Can't ya see that I'm counting on you while you're doing a number on me?
Divided by three, you're the singular something I need!
Don't care if it's new or even used in moderation.
Don't care if it's first or even second generation.
You better think of something!
You better think quick.
Whatcha gonna do now?
