The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) is an American commercial broadcast television and radio network that is the flagship property of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. The network is headquartered in the Comcast Building (formerly known as the GE Building) at Rockefeller Center in New York City, with additional major offices near Los Angeles (at Universal City Plaza), Chicago (at the NBC Tower) and soon in Philadelphia at Comcast Innovation and Technology Center. The network is part of the Big Three television networks. NBC is sometimes referred to as the "Peacock Network", in reference to its stylized peacock logo, which was originally created in 1956 for its then-new color broadcasts and became the network's official emblem in 1979.
Founded in 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), NBC is the oldest major broadcast network in the United States. In 1986, control of NBC passed to General Electric (GE) – which previously owned RCA and NBC until 1930, when it was forced to sell the companies as a result of antitrust charges – through its $6.4 billion purchase of RCA. Following the acquisition by GE (which later liquidated RCA), Bob Wright served as chief executive officer of NBC, remaining in that position until his retirement in 2007, when he was succeeded by Jeff Zucker. In 2003, French media company Vivendi merged its entertainment assets with GE, forming NBC Universal. Comcast purchased a controlling interest in the company in 2011, and acquired General Electric's remaining stake in 2013. Following the Comcast merger, Zucker left NBC Universal and was replaced as CEO by Comcast executive Steve Burke.
Broadcasting is the distribution of audio and/or video content to a dispersed audience via any electronic mass communications medium, but typically one using the electromagnetic spectrum (radio waves), in a one-to-many model. Broadcasting began with AM radio broadcasting which came into popular use starting with the invention of the crystal detector in 1906. Before this, all forms of electronic communication, radio, telephone, and telegraph, were "one-to-one", with the message intended for a single recipient. The term "broadcasting", borrowed from the agricultural method of sowing seeds in a field by casting them broadly about, was coined by either KDKA manager Frank Conrad or RCA historian George Clark around 1920 to distinguish this new activity of "one-to-many" communication; a single radio station transmitting to multiple listeners.
Over the air Broadcasting is usually associated with radio and television, though in practice radio and television transmissions take place using both wires and radio waves. The receiving parties may include the general public or a relatively small subset; the point is that anyone with the appropriate receiving technology can receive the signal. The field of broadcasting includes a wide range of practices, from relatively private exchanges such as public radio, community radio and commercial radio, public television, and commercial television.
A company is an association or collection of individuals, whether natural persons, legal persons, or a mixture of both. Company members share a common purpose and unite in order to focus their various talents and organize their collectively available skills or resources to achieve specific, declared goals. Companies take various forms such as:
A company or association of persons can be created at law as legal person so that the company in itself can accept Limited liability for civil responsibility and taxation incurred as members perform (or fail) to discharge their duty within the publicly declared "birth certificate" or published policy.
Because companies are legal persons, they also may associate and register themselves as companies – often known as a corporate group. When the company closes it may need a "death certificate" to avoid further legal obligations.

Whose voice, who's conducting, who wrote it, and when, and for what purpose? And no, that's not Garrett Morris singing (see below). With apologies for the skip at the 1:41 mark (present in the original damaged audio source), enjoy this moderately clean restoration of the engaging "mystery recording" inspired by the G-E-C-note NBC Chime logo and (I'm guessing) a product of the NBC Radio Network itself. How old is it? When I downloaded the source audio for this post from usenet back in 1999, the original poster's description stated that it had been recorded in 1938 and that he had extracted his copy from the tape of an NBC Radio retrospective that had aired during the late 1960s. No additional information or confirmation was forthcoming. Both the arrangement and the high fidelity sound...

This is a filmed record (not a kinescope) of the first actual "public" television broadcast in the United States. (There were perhaps three receivers capable of receiving the signal.) This show starts with the "live" portion (which has been filmed, rather awkwardly....it's sometimes hard to see the actual image being broadcast). Then there are some Pathé newsreels which were broadcast, followed by more live footage. A rather befuddled Ed Wynn vamps for a bit, and there are appearances by Eddie Green and George Wilshire, as well as The Pickens Sisters. This show was broadcast to the various RCA licencees, who were in attendance, watching on one of the receivers.. Some identify themselves on-camera.

This is a half-hour of the NBC Radio Network's series "Monitor" from Sunday night, September 27, 1964, the evening the Warren Commission's final report on the assassination of President Kennedy was released. And this is "Monitor" at its finest. Host Frank Blair introduces NBC reporters Richard Harkness, Robert McCormick, Russ Ward, Peter Hackes, and Morgan Beatty, all analyzing the Commission's conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald was JFK's sole assassin. Recorded from WSB Radio in Atlanta. ---------- AUDIO SOURCE AND THE SOURCE FOR THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION: http://MonitorBeacon.net/sounddownloads.html

"THE AGE OF KENNEDY" is an outstanding "NBC White Paper" documentary that was first aired (in two parts) on the NBC Television Network in late May and early June of 1966. The two "White Paper" programs (subtitled "The Early Years" and "The Presidency") chronicle the life and political career of the 35th President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. This black-and-white documentary is filled to the brim with excellent archival film footage of JFK and his family. This program is definitely one that should be seen and downloaded for future viewings. It's absolutely wonderful. Adding to the classy flavor of this particular JFK video biography is the frequent narration of distinguished actor Henry Fonda in the first half of the program, as Fonda reads words that were written by Jo...
