Cádiz (/kəˈdɪz/, Spanish: [ˈkaðiθ]; see other pronunciations below) is a city and port in southwestern Spain. It is the capital of the province of Cádiz, one of eight which make up the autonomous community of Andalusia.
Cádiz, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Spain and one of the oldest in western Europe, has been a principal home port of the Spanish Navy since the accession of the Spanish Bourbons in the 18th century. The city is a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network. It is also the site of the University of Cádiz.
Situated on a narrow slice of land surrounded by the sea‚ Cádiz is, in most respects, a typically Andalusian city with a wealth of attractive vistas and well-preserved historical landmarks. The older part of Cádiz within the remnants of the city walls is commonly referred to as the Old Town (Spanish: Casco Antiguo). It is characterized by the antiquity of its various quarters (barrios), among them El Pópulo, La Viña, and Santa María, which present a marked contrast to the newer areas of town. While the Old City's street plan consists of narrow winding alleys connecting large plazas, newer areas of Cádiz typically have wide avenues and more modern buildings. In addition, the city is dotted with numerous parks where exotic plants flourish, including giant trees supposedly brought to Spain by Columbus from the New World.
Andalusia (/ˌændəˈluːsiəˌ -ziəˌ -ʒⁱə/; Spanish: Andalucía [andaluˈθi.a, -si.a]) is a south-western European region established as an autonomous community of the Kingdom of Spain. It is the most populated and the second largest in area of the autonomous communities in Spain. The Andalusian autonomous community is officially recognised as a nationality of Spain. The territory is divided into eight provinces: Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga and Seville. Its capital is the city of Seville (Spanish: Sevilla).
Andalusia is in the south of the Iberian peninsula, immediately south of the autonomous communities of Extremadura and Castile–La Mancha; west of the autonomous community of Murcia and the Mediterranean Sea; east of Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean; and north of the Mediterranean Sea and the Strait of Gibraltar. Andalusia is the only European region with both Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines. The small British overseas territory of Gibraltar shares a three-quarter-mile land border with the Andalusian province of Cádiz at the eastern end of the Strait of Gibraltar.

Travel Guide Spain /// Cádiz http://maartenkuijken.tumblr.com You could write several weighty university theses about Cádiz and still fall a mile short of nailing its essence. Old age accounts for much of the complexity. Cádiz is generally considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in Europe. Now well into its fourth millennium, the ancient centre, surrounded almost entirely by water, is a romantic hodgepodge of sinuous streets where Atlantic waves crash against eroded sea walls, municipal beaches stretch for miles, and rambunctious taverns echo with the sounds of cawing gulls and frying fish. But old as it is, Cádiz has also proved to be durable and, ultimately, influential. Spain's first liberal constitution was signed here in 1812, while the city's distinctive urban...

Travel video about destination Andalusia in Spain. Andalusia, in southern Spain is a fantasy land situated between Europe and Africa. In Algarrobo, a white village close to the coast, time seems to have stood still and is a place of both inspiration and contemplation. Since Phoenician times, the earlier ‘Malaca’ was a busy trading port that was defended by the Gibralforo Castle. The Cathedral, also known as ‘La Manquita’, symbolizes a catholic victory on the former site of a mosque. On the edge of the city centre is the Moorish fortress of Alcazaba, that was once a fortified residence on the hills of Castillo. The second largest city in Andalusia also became known as the birthplace of its famous son, world famous artist Pablo Ruiz Picasso. Since the 1950s, the modern coastal resort of Torre...

People said it was cocaine
People claimed it was gin
I know the girl and the [dew-house] man
That done my brother in
Chorus
They put the last clean shirt
On my poor brother Bill
They put the last clean shirt
On my poor brother Bill
They found him in the back seat
Of an old abandoned Ford
[Catch] the hand of my brother Bill
It was a stiff as a running board
[chorus]
The preacher said, he's gone now
Gone to another place
They lowered him down into the ground
I felt a tear trickle down my face
[chorus]
The preacher said, he's gone now
Gone to another place
They lowered him down into the ground
I felt a tear trickle down my face
