Yomo Toro (26 July 1933 – 30 June 2012) was a guitarist and a Puerto Rico cuatro player.
Known internationally as "The King of the Cuatro," Toro recorded over 150 albums throughout a 60-year career and worked extensively with Cuban legends Arsenio Rodríguez and Alfonso "El Panameño" Joseph; salsa artists Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe and Ruben Blades; and artists from other music genres including Frankie Cutlass, Harry Belafonte, Paul Simon, Linda Ronstadt and David Byrne.
Yomo Toro (birth name: Victor Guillermo Toro) was born in Ensenada, within the municipality of Guánica, near the southwestern corner of Puerto Rico. His father, Alberto, drove a truck for the sugarcane mills of the South Porto Rican Sugar Company and played cuatro in a band along with Yomo Toro’s uncles.
Nicknamed "Yomo" by his father, Toro began to play music at age 6.
At age 15, Toro formed the string trio La Bandita de la Escuela ("The Little School Band"). He continued his musical career by performing at events with La Bandita and other trios, all over the island of Puerto Rico, as well as on the radio program La Montaña Canta (The Mountain Sings).

Yomo was born Jose Torres on June 17, 1980 in Chicago to Puerto Rican parents. He spent most of his childhood raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Yomo spent half of his live living in a small town in New York called Amsterdam. He is the youngest of three kids. Yomo is the father of 4 kids of three different women. Yomo dedicated his whole CD "My Destiny" to his ex-wife Jainel. While Don Omar and Daddy Yankee were crossing over into the pop international hits Reggaetón Latino and Gasolina, respectively, Yomo was still developing in reggaeton breeding ground. He first started to work with Master Joe & O.G. Black and appeared in their cd Sabotage. His first taste of success came in the form of the hot single '"Déjale Caer To' El Peso and my destiny"', which charted on the music charts and in 2009 with his hit "Descara", which became a hit in the U.S & the Caribbean. In 2010, his song Lio came out.In 2010, he also was nominated for billboards for his song bella calla, which was not released yet but on his webpage This song was also leaked in the web and this song was also another hit.

Willie Colón a Nuyorican, born in the South Bronx, New York, to Nuyorican Puerto Rican parents from Puerto Rican grandparents. He picked up the trumpet from a young age, and later switched to trombone, inspired by the all-trombone sound of Mon Rivera and Barry Rogers. He spent some summers at his maternal grandmother’s sister’s (La finca de Celín y Ramón) farm in the outskirts of Manatí, Puerto Rico on the road to neighboring Ciales, Puerto Rico.
At the age of 15 he was signed to Fania Records and at 17 he recorded his first album, which ultimately sold more than 300,000 copies. Due to fortuitous events, the main record producer at Fania at the time, Johnny Pacheco, recommended Héctor Lavoe to him.
Héctor Juan Pérez Martínez (September 30, 1946 – June 29, 1993), better known as Héctor Lavoe, was a Puerto Rican salsa singer.
Lavoe was born and raised in the Machuelo Abajo barrio of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Early in his life, he attended the Ponce Free School of Music known today as the Instituto de Música Juan Morel Campos, and, inspired by Jesús Sánchez Erazo, developed an interest in music. He moved to New York City on 3 May 1963, at the age of sixteen. Shortly after his arrival, he worked as the singer in a sextet formed by Roberto García. During this period, he performed with several other groups, including Orquesta New York, Kako All-Stars, and the Johnny Pacheco band.
In 1967, Lavoe joined Willie Colón's band as the its vocalist recording several hit songs, including "El Malo" and "Canto a Borinquen". Lavoe moved on to become a soloist and formed his own band performing as lead vocalist. As a soloist, Lavoe recorded several hits including: "El cantante" composed by Rubén Blades, "Bandolera" composed by Colón, and "Periódico de ayer" composed by Tite Curet Alonso. During this period he was frequently featured as a guest singer with the Fania All Stars recording numerous tracks with the band.

YOMO TORO LP LA HERENCIA ESPERO Q LESGUSTE PARAMAS VISITA THECANAL28 BY GARFIELD
Yomo Toro, el gran senor, living legend, born in Puerto Rico and plays the steel stringed guitar, the cuartro, indigenous to Puerto Rico. Yomo, who just turned 75, was the first to play that instrument in salsa music and also responsible for bringing that instrument into the larger world. His discography is long. His specialization is called "jibaro" music, pronouned Hee Ba RO and it means country or hillbilly music. Nothing simple about Yomo's style of bending notes and his amazing technical skills. The way he hears and the way he plays it is clear why Yomo is considered a class act. His most recent release is a collaboration with trombonist Roswell Rudd called EL ESPIRITU JIBARO on Sunnyside records. http://www.sunnysiderecords.com/ http://www.soundscapepresents.com

Just a personal remembrance of my friend and mentor Yomo Toro, the King of the Cuatro. Many photos are from the internet. There are photos of Yomo's son and daughter Yomito & Patricia, as well as his eldest Denise. There are photos of Yomo & his wife Mini and with old friends like Daniel Santos, Masso Rivera and Hector LaVoe. Yomo's virtuosity combined with Hector's wit, improvisation, lyrical and melodic savvy made the Willie Colon band what it was while defining an era. Thanks to Mary Kent for her photos. Much love and gratitude to Mini, Denise and Tun Tun.

It seems you've been kinda down lately
Come here let me talk to you baby
I know it's been driving you crazy
Why did he break your heart?
He's gone but your heart is still aching
If it's too soon I really don't mind waiting
Tell me what you think about making?
Making a brand new start
Baby, don't you cry
I'll be right by your side
And I won't say goodbye
Not like the other guys
Heartache is in the past
You saved the best for last
Your love is all I ask
But if I'm moving too fast, girl
Gimme just a little bit, babe
Just a little bit of your loving
Gimme just a little bit, babe
Just a little bit of your loving
Gimme just a little bit, babe
Just a little bit of your loving
I want all your loving
I must admit
But we can start with just a little bit, babe
Just wanna let you know that
I wanna give you all of my loving
I know it might be kind of sudden
Don't think I'm rushin' you
My love for you baby is strong
I haven't felt this way for so long
With me girl you won't go wrong
Because my love is true
Baby, don't you cry
I'll be right by your side
And I won't say goodbye
Not like the other guys
