The winner of a $40-million Oz Lotto jackpot has been revealed as a Cairns mother who plans to use the money to spend more time with her family.
Golden Casket, which put out a call for the winner on Wednesday after the Tuesday night draw, was contacted by the woman on Thursday after she checked her winning numbers online.
The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, called the fortune "surreal" and planned to use the winnings to help her family spend more time with each other.
"The first thing I pictured was my husband not having to work long hours anymore and being able to spend more time as a family with the kids," she said.
"I was so down in the dumps last week thinking 'when are we going to have some really happy things to look forward to?' Nothing was letting up on us. But then this happened.
"I could get a cleaner because I don't get too much time at home when things are going haywire."
She said she plans to buy a new family home and work out a way to invest the money for her children.
The woman purchased her $7.90 lucky ticket from newsXpress Cairns Central inside the Cairns Shopping Centre.
