Albay is a province in the Philippines located in the Bicol Region in southeastern Luzon. Its capital is the city of Legazpi, the regional administrative center of Bicol Region, which is located in the southern foothill of Mayon Volcano, the symbol most associated with the province. This nearly perfectly shaped active volcano forms a scenic backdrop to the city of Legazpi and is visible throughout the municipalities and cities of Albay including the surrounding provinces.
Long before the Spaniards arrived, Albay had a thriving civilization. Formerly called Ibat, and then Libog, Albay was once ruled by Gat Ibal, an old chief who also founded the old barangay of Sawangan, now the district of Albay and part of the city of Legazpi.
In July 1569, Luis Enriquez de Guzman, a member of the expedition led by Maestro de Campo Mateo de Saz and Captain Martin de Goiti, led a group which crossed from Burias and Ticao islands and landed on a coastal settlement called Ibalon in what is now the province of Sorsogon. From this point another expedition was sent to explore the interior and founded the town of Camalig.
Daraga is a first class municipality in the province of Albay, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 115,804 people. It is home to the landmark Cagsawa Ruins.
The Municipality of Daraga is located in the south-west portion of Albay Province along the Maharlika Highway, making it accessible from Manila and the Visayas, as well as the other municipalities of eastern Bicol Peninsula. It is roughly "boot-shaped", with the "tall" part ranging 13.05–13.25° north latitude and 123.66–123.73° east longitude and the "wide" part ranging 13.02–13.09° north latitude and 123.56–123.71° east longitude. It is bounded on the north and east by Legazpi City, on the south by the Province of Sorsogon (particularly the municipality of Pilar), and on the west by the Municipalities of Camalig and Jovellar.
A land-locked municipality, Daraga has a total land area of 11,860 hectares (29,300 acres). This is about 4.70% of the land area of Albay Province. This municipal land area is distributed among the present 16 urban barangays and 42 rural barangays. The urban barangays total 1,500 hectares (3,700 acres) (12.65%) and the rural barangays make up the remaining 10,360 hectares (25,600 acres) (87.35%) of the total municipal land area.

This 125Km Northbound segment starts from Matnog Port gate driving along AH-26 all the way to Daraga Shell Station in Daraga AH26 corner Bicol 630 except in Sorsogon City wherein we have taken the Sorsogon City Diversion Road instead. This is a very busy highway indeed where a lot of trucks, buses, private vehicles & the inevitable trikes share it. Dropped by St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Juban then continued straight ahead. Travel time is within 3~4 Hrs with intermittent road works along the way with curves to go with. Enjoy & have a safe trip everyone!!!
