Ronald Allan Pou y Kelley-Gatbonton was born on August 20, 1939 in Manila of Pangasinan, Spanish, Kapampangan and Irish American descent, the son of actor-producer-director Fernando Poe, Sr. of San Carlos City, Pangasinan (1916--1951) and Bessie Gatbonton Kelley (1918--1999) of Candaba, Pampanga.
His mother, Bessie Kelley, was an American and sometimes called Elizabeth Kelley in some sources especially in Philippine press.
His mother's parents, Arthur Kelley (WWI Army Corp of Engineer from Iowa, USA) was an Irish American who settled in the Philippines and Martha Gatbonton, a Filipina of mixed Kapampangan and Spanish heritage.
Poe Jr.'s parents were not legally married yet when he was born in 1939. His parents later married in 1940.
He was the second of six siblings, born after Elizabeth and before Fernando II (Andy -RIP), Genevieve (Jenny), Fredrick (Freddieboy), and Evangeline.
His name at birth was Ronald Allan Kelley Poe; his brother Andy was the legal Fernando Poe Jr. The late actor Conrad Poe was his half-brother..... (source: Wikipedia)

Schubert's immortal "Serenade" was written in 1826. it is so familiar that it needs no analysis, nor is one necessary from any point of view. It is simply a lovely melody from first note to last, written upon the inspiration of the moment, and yet characterized by absolute perfection of finish and a grace and beauty of which one never tires. It was originally composed as an alto solo and male chorus and was subsequently rearranged for female voices only. The circumstances of its composition as told by Schubert's biographer, Von Hellborn, are of more than ordinary interest.
Von Hellborn says:
"One Sunday, during the summer of 1826, Schubert with several friends was returning from Potzleinsdorf to the city, and on strolling along through Wahring, he saw his friend Tieze sitting at a table in the garden of the 'Zum Biersack.' The whole party determined on a halt in their journey. Tieze had a book lying open before him, and Schubert soon began to turn over the leaves. Suddenly he stopped, and pointing to a poem, exclaimed, 'such a delicious melody has just come into my head, if I but had a sheet of music paper with me.' Herr Doppler drew a few music lines on the back of a bill of fare, and in the midst of a genuine Sunday hubbub, with fiddlers, skittle players, and waiters running about in different directions with orders, Schubert wrote that lovely song."

His bid for presidency in the 2004 presidential elections against the popular and incumbent Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was unsuccessful. He was commonly known as "FPJ" and "Da King." Pou is the original spelling of the family's surname from his grandfather, playwright Lorenzo Pou, a Catalan migrant from Majorca, Spain, who ventured into mining and business in the Philippines.
In 1953 Poe finished his primary education at San Beda College. For high school, he went to San Sebastian College. He continued his education at Mapua Institute of Technology and University of the East. His father died from rabies at age 35, leaving the young Poe as the family's breadwinner. In order to support his family, he was forced to drop out of school. He did not complete high school, but went on to win numerous awards and prizes as an actor and film director.
In December 1968 FPJ married actress Susan Roces in a civil ceremony. They were later married in church with the then President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda Marcos as their primary sponsors. Mary Grace is their adopted child.
During the presidential campaign in February 2004, Poe admitted to having sired a child out of wedlock. Ronian, or Ron Allan, was Poe's son by former actress Anna Marin.

The term "talking book" came into being in the 1930s with government programs designed for blind readers, while the term "audiobook" came into use during the 1970s when audiocassettes began to replace records. In 1994, the Audio Publishers Association established the term "audiobook" as the industry standard.

Fernando Poe, Jr.
Ronald Allan Kelley Poe (August 20, 1939 – December 14, 2004), better known as Fernando Poe, Jr. and colloquially known as FPJ and Da King, was a Filipino actor. During the latter part of his career, Poe was defeated by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the 2004 Philippine presidential elections. His long career as an action film star earned him the nickname "King of Philippine Movies" (often shortened to Da King).
Poe was posthumously declared a National Artist of the Philippines for Film on May 23, 2006 by President Macapagal-Arroyo. The award was confirmed by President Benigno Aquino III on July 20, 2012, and was presented to his family on August 16.

Schubert's immortal "Serenade" was written in 1826. it is so familiar that it needs no analysis, nor is one necessary from any point of view. It is simply a lovely melody from first note to last, written upon the inspiration of the moment, and yet characterized by absolute perfection of finish and a grace and beauty of which one never tires. It was originally composed as an alto solo and male chorus and was subsequently rearranged for female voices only. The circumstances of its composition as told by Schubert's biographer, Von Hellborn, are of more than ordinary interest.
Von Hellborn says:
"One Sunday, during the summer of 1826, Schubert with several friends was returning from Potzleinsdorf to the city, and on strolling along through Wahring, he saw his friend Tieze sitting at a table in the garden of the 'Zum Biersack.' The whole party determined on a halt in their journey. Tieze had a book lying open before him, and Schubert soon began to turn over the leaves. Suddenly he stopped, and pointing to a poem, exclaimed, 'such a delicious melody has just come into my head, if I but had a sheet of music paper with me.' Herr Doppler drew a few music lines on the back of a bill of fare, and in the midst of a genuine Sunday hubbub, with fiddlers, skittle players, and waiters running about in different directions with orders, Schubert wrote that lovely song."

He was the second among six siblings and it was his brother Andy who was really named Fernando Poe, Jr. which FPJ later adopted, to bank on the popularity of his father who was a top actor in his time. Conrad Poe, a Filipino actor is FPJ's half-brother, the illegitimate son of the late Fernando Poe Sr. and actress Patricia Mijares.
Pou is the original spelling of the family's surname from his grandfather, playwright Lorenzo Pou, a Catalan migrant from Majorca, Spain, who ventured into mining and business in the Philippines.
In 1953 Poe finished his primary education at San Beda College. For high school, he went to San Sebastian College. He continued his education at Mapua Institute of Technology and University of the East. His father died from rabies at age 35, leaving the young Poe as the family's breadwinner. In order to support his family, he was forced to drop out of school. He did not complete high school, but went on to win numerous awards and prizes as an actor and film director.
In December 1968 FPJ married actress Susan Roces in a civil ceremony. They were later married in church with the then President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda Marcos as their primary sponsors. Mary Grace is their adopted child.
During the presidential campaign in February 2004, Poe admitted to having sired a child out of wedlock. Ronian, or Ron Allan, was Poe's son by former actress Anna Marin.

During the presidential campaign in February 2004, Poe admitted to having sired a child out of wedlock. Ronian, or Ron Allan, was Poe's son by former actress Anna Marin.

It is simply a lovely melody from first note to last, written upon the inspiration of the moment, and yet characterized by absolute perfection of finish and a grace and beauty of which one never tires. It was originally composed as an alto solo and male chorus and was subsequently rearranged for female voices only. The circumstances of its composition as told by Schubert's biographer, Von Hellborn, are of more than ordinary interest.

"One Sunday, during the summer of 1826, Schubert with several friends was returning from Potzleinsdorf to the city, and on strolling along through Wahring, he saw his friend Tieze sitting at a table in the garden of the 'Zum Biersack.' The whole party determined on a halt in their journey. Tieze had a book lying open before him, and Schubert soon began to turn over the leaves. Suddenly he stopped, and pointing to a poem, exclaimed, 'such a delicious melody has just come into my head, if I but had a sheet of music paper with me.' Herr Doppler drew a few music lines on the back of a bill of fare, and in the midst of a genuine Sunday hubbub, with fiddlers, skittle players, and waiters running about in different directions with orders, Schubert wrote that lovely song."

Ronald Allan Pou y Kelley-Gatbonton was born on August 20, 1939 in Manila of Pangasinan, Spanish, Kapampangan and Irish American descent, the son of actor-producer-director Fernando Poe, Sr. of San Carlos City, Pangasinan (1916--1951) and Bessie Gatbonton Kelley (1918--1999) of Candaba, Pampanga.
His mother, Bessie Kelley, was an American and sometimes called Elizabeth Kelley in some sources especially in Philippine press.

His bid for presidency in the 2004 presidential elections against the popular and incumbent Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was unsuccessful. He was commonly known as "FPJ" and "Da King." He died at the age of 65 on December 14, 2004 after suffering a stroke.
Ronald Allan K. Poe was the son of Filipino actor Allan Fernando R. Poe (Fernando Poe, Sr.) and Elizabeth Kelley, an American. He was born in San Carlos City, Pangasinan. His parents were not yet legally married when he was born in 1939, although his parents were later married in 1940. His opponents tried to derail his bid for the presidency when they sought to disqualify him as an illegitimate son of a non-Filipino mother. He was the second among six siblings and it was his brother Andy who was really named Fernando Poe, Jr. which FPJ later adopted, to bank on the popularity of his father who was a top actor in his time. Conrad Poe, a Filipino actor is FPJ's half-brother, the illegitimate son of the late Fernando Poe Sr. and actress Patricia Mijares.
Pou is the original spelling of the family's surname from his grandfather, playwright Lorenzo Pou, a Catalan migrant from Majorca, Spain, who ventured into mining and business in the Philippines.
In 1953 Poe finished his primary education at San Beda College. For high school, he went to San Sebastian College. He continued his education at Mapua Institute of Technology and University of the East. His father died from rabies at age 35, leaving the young Poe as the family's breadwinner. In order to support his family, he was forced to drop out of school. He did not complete high school, but went on to win numerous awards and prizes as an actor and film director.
In December 1968 FPJ married actress Susan Roces in a civil ceremony. They were later married in church with the then President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda Marcos as their primary sponsors. Mary Grace is their adopted child.
During the presidential campaign in February 2004, Poe admitted to having sired a child out of wedlock. Ronian, or Ron Allan, was Poe's son by former actress Anna Marin.

Joseph Conrad, artiste du regard. Et comment ne le serait-il pas, lui qui a passé 20 années de sa vie à scruter les vagues, les risées, les écueils et les vents ? À en mesurer les conséquences sur la vie des hommes rassemblés sur le microcosme d'un navire ? L'année de sa mort, en 1924, dans un texte intitulé "The Romance of Travels", qu'il écrit pour la revue "Countries of the world", et repris dans le "National Geographic Magazine", il souligne cette étrange coïncidence que la date de sa naissance correspondît avec la parution du livre de l'explorateur Sir Leopold Mac Clintock, "Le voyage du Fox dans les mers arctiques", où se trouve relatée la tragique épopée de Sir John Franklin à bord de deux navires pris par les glaces. Il découvre, en lisant ce livre, enfant, " la nature profonde de [sa] propre individualité " , le goût de la géographie, sa passion pour l'étude des cartes. Ces cartes où le centre de l'Afrique n'est encore qu'un grand blanc. Mais dans les blancs des cartes il inscrira son œuvre.
Josef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, né à Berdichev, en Pologne ukrainienne, s'engage donc dans la marine marchande française à 17 ans, puis, ayant gravi les échelons jusqu'au grade de capitaine, il passe ses plus longues années de navigation dans la marine marchande anglaise ; mais secrètement, pendant les quatre dernières années de sa vie de marin, voyage avec lui et s'élabore lentement le manuscrit de son premier roman, "La Folie Almayer". Il a 37 ans, et il va changer de vie.
