Very rare footage of the infamous Italian Fascist leader Benito Mussolini. In his Fox movietone newsreel footage from March 1929, he speaks in English (!) - Not so many people don't know, but Mussolini could speak English, French and German fluently, although he had very strong accent when speaking English.
Mussolini says (Roughly transcribed);
"I am very glad to be able to express my feelings to the American nation. Friendship which Italy looks to millions of citizens who from..... from Pacific to Atlantic..... United States is very deeply rooted in our hearts.
This feeling created by mutual interest in preparation of an even brighter era in the life of both nations. I agree - the wonderful energy of the American people and I feel....... my fellow citizens who are working to make America great.
I salute the great American people, I salute the Italians of America who unite in the love of the nation."

В сентябре 1926 года Сергей Эйзенштейн заключил договор с Совкино на написание сценария для фильма о социалистическом переустройстве деревни и о проведении съемок с 1 октября 1926 года до 1 февраля 1927 года. В ноябре Эйзенштейн выехал в Баку на первые съемки, которые начались в Муганских степях, продолжились в Ростове-на-Дону и в декабре — на Северном Кавказе. Сценарий, однако, еще не был готов. Постановка была приостановлена на полтора года и только после выпуска «Октября» Эйзенштейн вновь вернулся к «Генеральной линии».

CS Nurse wraps bandage on boy's hand. *Section follows showing guests arriving in cars at country church for wedding of unidentified couple - looks like mid to late 1920s from the fashions of the bridesmaids and bride. People coming out of church after ceremony. Bride and groom pose on steps then walk off, followed by guests. End of wedding sequence.*
DS procession in park - older boys in military uniforms; younger in shorts & jackets - all marching in precise rows. MS short pan: Group of boys & men stand on porch clapping; a few others run up; some w/ cricket bats. Long lines of girls in pinafores do graceful stretching exercises outdoors; building in BG. Presented for posterity (or until the suits tell me to take it down), a program first broadcast in color via CBS on November 23, 1965: A Salute to Stan Laurel, featuring Dick Van Dyke, Buster Keaton, Phil Silvers, and many others. Watch for a quick cameo from Fred Gwynn as Herman Munster.
The quality of the transfer of this genuine curio is not great but it is the best I have been able to locate to date.

В сентябре 1926 года Сергей Эйзенштейн заключил договор с Совкино на написание сценария для фильма о социалистическом переустройстве деревни и о проведении съемок с 1 октября 1926 года до 1 февраля 1927 года. В ноябре Эйзенштейн выехал в Баку на первые съемки, которые начались в Муганских степях, продолжились в Ростове-на-Дону и в декабре — на Северном Кавказе. Сценарий, однако, еще не был готов. Постановка была приостановлена на полтора года и только после выпуска «Октября» Эйзенштейн вновь вернулся к «Генеральной линии».

В финале картины десятки тракторов пашут артельную землю, за рулем одного из них — Марфа Лапкина.

В сентябре 1926 года Сергей Эйзенштейн заключил договор с Совкино на написание сценария для фильма о социалистическом переустройстве деревни и о проведении съемок с 1 октября 1926 года до 1 февраля 1927 года. В ноябре Эйзенштейн выехал в Баку на первые съемки, которые начались в Муганских степях, продолжились в Ростове-на-Дону и в декабре — на Северном Кавказе. Сценарий, однако, еще не был готов. Постановка была приостановлена на полтора года и только после выпуска «Октября» Эйзенштейн вновь вернулся к «Генеральной линии».

CS Nurse wraps bandage on boy's hand. *Section follows showing guests arriving in cars at country church for wedding of unidentified couple - looks like mid to late 1920s from the fashions of the bridesmaids and bride. People coming out of church after ceremony. Bride and groom pose on steps then walk off, followed by guests. End of wedding sequence.*
DS procession in park - older boys in military uniforms; younger in shorts & jackets - all marching in precise rows. MS short pan: Group of boys & men stand on porch clapping; a few others run up; some w/ cricket bats. Long lines of girls in pinafores do graceful stretching exercises outdoors; building in BG. Title frame re smart cadet corps boys in uniforms like British Army; doing drill; quickly changing places then marching round in a big square. The quality of the transfer of this genuine curio is not great but it is the best I have been able to locate to date.
