Alex North

Alex North (December 4, 1910 – September 8, 1991) was an American composer best known for his many film scores, including A Streetcar Named Desire (one of the first jazz-based film scores), Viva Zapata!, Spartacus, Cleopatra, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. He was the first composer to receive an Honorary Academy Award.

Early life

North was born Isadore Soifer in Chester, Pennsylvania to Russian Jewish parents.

Career

North managed to integrate his modernism into typical film music leitmotif structure, rich with themes. One of these became the famous song, "Unchained Melody". Nominated for fifteen Oscars but unsuccessful each time, North is one of only two film composers to receive the Lifetime Achievement Academy Award, the other being Ennio Morricone. North's frequent collaborator as orchestrator was the avant-garde composer Henry Brant. He won the 1968 Golden Globe award for his music to The Shoes of the Fisherman (1968).

His best-known film scores include A Streetcar Named Desire, Death of a Salesman, Viva Zapata!, The Rainmaker, Spartacus, The Misfits, Cleopatra, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Dragonslayer and Under the Volcano. His music for The Wonderful Country makes use of Mexican and American motifs.

Lil Twist

Christopher Lynn Moore (born January 11, 1993), known by his stage names Lil Twist and Twizzy F., is a rapper from Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. He is currently signed to Young Money Entertainment. Lil Twist, along with his younger brother Lil Za, another aspiring rapper artist, is best known for his association with Justin Bieber.

Career

Lil Twist is from Dallas, Texas. He dropped out of high school after completing one year.

When he was 12 years old, Lil Twist went to a Lil Wayne concert in Tyler, Texas and opened for Lil Wayne. Impressed, Cortez and Wayne flew Lil Twist to Atlanta to see how he was in a recording studio.

He released his first single, "The Texas Twist", when he was 10 years old, which was #1 locally in Dallas for 6 straight weeks.

Lil Twist was signed to Young Money Records after Lil Wayne saw him perform at one of his concert openings in 2007.

He released mixtapes such as The Golden Child, and a single, "Love Affair" to build anticipation for his upcoming album, Bad Decisions.

Greatest hits album

A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a solo artist; all of the songs on it are presented in different versions than the original hit versions. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a group and also one of the ten best selling albums in history. Greatest hits albums are typically produced after an artist has had enough successful songs to fill out an album release. Some artists, such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Kiss, U2, Dolly Parton, Journey, Los Tigres del Norte, Queen, Kylie Minogue and Billy Joel, have released multiple greatest hits albums through their long careers. Some greatest hits albums are released only at the end of the artist or group's career. For example, My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits album after they disbanded. Other artists, like Eminem have released hits albums in the center of their success. He released Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 and then Shady XV as a compilation album in 2014.

Alexis & Fido

Alexis & Fido, a.k.a. Los Pitbulls,Los Reyes Del Perreo, are a Latin Grammy nominated reggaeton duo from Puerto Rico. They are CEOs and co-founders of Wild Dogz Music. In 2008, "Sobrenatural" was nominated for Album Urbano. In 2012, "Energía" was nominated for Canción Urbana. In 2013, "Rompe La Cintura" was nominated for – Interpretación Urbana. Nominated for the 2014 awards, “Album Urbano” with “La Esencia”.

Musical career

According to Fido, he and Yandel were close friends as teenagers and helped each other kick-start their careers. Likewise, Alexis was close to Wisin, and also helped him with his career. Eventually the two duos were formed, Alexis & Fido and Wisin & Yandel, and went their separate ways. Alexis & Fido featured on Yandel's solo album Quien Contra Mí, in Wisin's solo album El Sobreviviente and Wisin & Yandel featured on Alexis & Fido's Los Reyes Del Perreo album. These plans include working with artists like Arcángel, Wisin & Yandel again, and many more artists.
