Many people daydream about traveling the world, but all of them have the same excuse - lack of money. Tomislav, after traveling the world for years with almost no money, shows how it is possible for everyone to do the same, if they really want to.
Tomislav Perko, 29, is a travel writer from Croatia. After a career of a stockbroker, broke because of the financial crisis, he hits the road and turns it into his home. He uses alternative ways of traveling – hitchhiking, couchsurfing, working/volunteering, and manages to wander around the world with just a little bit of money in his pocket, meeting the most amazing people on the way.

Tripped: Episode 1 kicks off our year long journey. However, you can't have a journey without a little bit of prep- even Frodo had time to pack. Episode 1 explores the planning, saving and preparation that goes into getting ready for long term travel. We say goodbye to friends, family, and 'Merica and head toward our first destination: Nurnberg (Nuremberg) Germany! In Nurnberg, we discover the difficulty in simply ordering food while Allison is mesmerized by a light switch.
Tripped is a peek into our one year, round the world journey where we ungraciously shoved cameras in each others faces the entire time.
We wanted to record the good, the bad, and the reality of travel. What did we discover? High highs and low lows.
For every white sand beach, there was a "tour guide" screaming at you to buy a whale shark tour.
For every sunset over the mountains, a cloud of sandfly vampires with bloodlust in their hearts.
There are experiences so crazy beautiful that a heavily filtered pic from Instagram would never do it justice.
There are also experiences out there that are just crazy. Or scary. Or that you walk away from thinking “I hope I never do this specific thing in my life again”.
Episode format? Fast and furious, but with less Diesel. Could be 5 minutes, could be 15. Expect chuckles and adventure every week via slick edited and colorful commentary.
Where are we going? Fasten your seatbelts and keep that tray in its upright position bucko-we're going as many places as our budget will take us.

Travel
Travel is the movement of people between relatively distant geographical locations, and can involve travel by foot, bicycle, automobile, train, boat, airplane, or other means, with or without luggage, and can be one way or round trip. Travel can also include relatively short stays between successive movements.
Etymology
The origin of the word "travel" is most likely lost to history. The term "travel" may originate from the Old French word travail. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the first known use of the word travel was in the 14th century. It also states that the word comes from Middle English travailen, travelen (which means to torment, labor, strive, journey) and earlier from Old French travailler (which means to work strenuously, toil). In English we still occasionally use the words travail and travails, which mean struggle. According to Simon Winchester in his book The Best Travelers' Tales (2004), the words travel and travail both share an even more ancient root: a Roman instrument of torture called the tripalium (in Latin it means "three stakes", as in to impale). This link reflects the extreme difficulty of travel in ancient times. Also note the torturous connotation of the word "travailler." Today, travel may or may not be much easier depending upon the destination you choose (i.e., Mt. Everest, the Amazon rainforest), how you plan to get there (tour bus, cruise ship, or oxcart), and whether or not you decide to "rough it (see extreme tourism and adventure travel). "There's a big difference between simply being a tourist and being a true world traveler," notes travel writer Michael Kasum. This is, however, a contested distinction as academic work on the cultures and sociology of travel has noted.

For every sunset over the mountains, a cloud of sandfly vampires with bloodlust in their hearts.
There are experiences so crazy beautiful that a heavily filtered pic from Instagram would never do it justice.
There are also experiences out there that are just crazy. Or scary. Or that you walk away from thinking “I hope I never do this specific thing in my life again”.
Episode format? Fast and furious, but with less Diesel. Could be 5 minutes, could be 15. Expect chuckles and adventure every week via slick edited and colorful commentary.

Tripped: Episode 1 kicks off our year long journey. However, you can't have a journey without a little bit of prep- even Frodo had time to pack. Episode 1 explores the planning, saving and preparation that goes into getting ready for long term travel. We say goodbye to friends, family, and 'Merica and head toward our first destination: Nurnberg (Nuremberg) Germany! In Nurnberg, we discover the difficulty in simply ordering food while Allison is mesmerized by a light switch.
Tripped is a peek into our one year, round the world journey where we ungraciously shoved cameras in each others faces the entire time.
We wanted to record the good, the bad, and the reality of travel. What did we discover? High highs and low lows.
For every white sand beach, there was a "tour guide" screaming at you to buy a whale shark tour.
For every sunset over the mountains, a cloud of sandfly vampires with bloodlust in their hearts.
There are experiences so crazy beautiful that a heavily filtered pic from Instagram would never do it justice.
There are also experiences out there that are just crazy. Or scary. Or that you walk away from thinking “I hope I never do this specific thing in my life again”.
Episode format? Fast and furious, but with less Diesel. Could be 5 minutes, could be 15. Expect chuckles and adventure every week via slick edited and colorful commentary.
Where are we going? Fasten your seatbelts and keep that tray in its upright position bucko-we're going as many places as our budget will take us.

Tomislav Perko, 29, is a travel writer from Croatia. After a career of a stockbroker, broke because of the financial crisis, he hits the road and turns it into his home. He uses alternative ways of traveling – hitchhiking, couchsurfing, working/volunteering, and manages to wander around the world with just a little bit of money in his pocket, meeting the most amazing people on the way.

Tripped: Episode 1 kicks off our year long journey. However, you can't have a journey without a little bit of prep- even Frodo had time to pack. Episode 1 explores the planning, saving and preparation that goes into getting ready for long term travel. We say goodbye to friends, family, and 'Merica and head toward our first destination: Nurnberg (Nuremberg) Germany! In Nurnberg, we discover the difficulty in simply ordering food while Allison is mesmerized by a light switch.
Tripped is a peek into our one year, round the world journey where we ungraciously shoved cameras in each others faces the entire time.
We wanted to record the good, the bad, and the reality of travel. What did we discover? High highs and low lows.
For every white sand beach, there was a "tour guide" screaming at you to buy a whale shark tour.
For every sunset over the mountains, a cloud of sandfly vampires with bloodlust in their hearts.
There are experiences so crazy beautiful that a heavily filtered pic from Instagram would never do it justice.
There are also experiences out there that are just crazy. Or scary. Or that you walk away from thinking “I hope I never do this specific thing in my life again”.
Episode format? Fast and furious, but with less Diesel. Could be 5 minutes, could be 15. Expect chuckles and adventure every week via slick edited and colorful commentary.
Where are we going? Fasten your seatbelts and keep that tray in its upright position bucko-we're going as many places as our budget will take us.
