A civil rights lawsuit has been filed in a case WREG reported on several weeks ago in which a Blytheville Police Officer is seen using a taser on a man on the 4th of July. The lawsuit claimed the officer used excessive force during the encounter. It all started when officers confronted Chardrick Mitchell at an apartment building on East Main Street. Mitchell had reportedly locked his live-in girlfriend out of their place. “If she’s living there, you can’t stop her from getting her own clothes,” the officer is heard saying. Seconds pass and the officer asks Mitchell’s name, but he refused.
“You need to give me your name. If you don`t, I`m going to arrest you for obstruction.” The body camera covered, you hear Mitchell yelling at his girlfriend, then he began walking away. Mitchell told WREG he was heading to open the door, but police said they thought he was going to run away. That’s when you hear the officer shout, “Hey, turn around, you`re (( he fires his taser here)) under arrest.” Attorney James Harris, who filed the lawsuit, said at no point did the officer ever tell Mitchell he was under arrest prior to pulling out his taser.
It was only after shooting him, he said, that the officer said he was under arrest. Harris also pointed out the police didn’t match up with the police body camera footage from the scene. The report claimed the officer told Mitchell he was under arrest before he was shot with the stun gun. Mitchell was charged with obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and refusal to submit to arrest. Mitchell is expected to in court on August 2. The officer is also reportedly still on the force.

Palm Coast, FL - A pit bull that was Tasered by a Flagler County sheriff’s deputy and later euthanized “chewed its way through the door” of a bedroom and bit a total of three people before animal control officers could contain the dog, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deputies arrived at 16 Princess Luise Lane at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday after two women had already been bitten by the dog. Georgia Rose, 36, “had visible bite marks on both of her hands and wrists,” deputy Trevor Jacob reported. Thelma Rose, 62, “had injuries on her head and left wrist.”
Thelma Rose had locked herself and Georgia Rose’s baby in the bathroom afterward because she was “in fear of the dog,” the report states.
Georgia Rose can be seen on the video from the deputy’s body camera talking to the two through the bathroom window.
“Baby don’t cry,” she said.
The deputy and 32-year-old Ancel Rose entered the garage to get Thelma Rose and the baby out of the bathroom when the dog attacked again.
“At this time, I heard a male screaming in distress at the front of the home,” Jacob reported.
He un-holstered his Taser and made his way to the front of the house where Lloyd Rose was “attempting to secure the dog.”
“Once at the front of the home, I observed the pit bull actively biting Lloyd’s arm as he was trying to restrain it by the collar,” the report states.
The deputy Tasered the dog, which gave Lloyd Rose an opportunity to get away.
“As the Taser was cycling, I ordered everyone to move back and to get in the house,” Jacob said. “As Lloyd was walking to the front door the Taser cycle ended and the dog got back up and advanced toward Lloyd. I then used another cycle of the Taser to keep the dog from harming Lloyd again.”

Authorities in Greenwood have arrested a man for robbery Friday afternoon after he was tasered while on top of a stolen minivan. Jameson McCarthy was arrested after he allegedly robbed the Greenwood Discount Tobacco store and injured the store clerk. Police say he then stole a customer's van and injured the driver during the altercation. He was charged with two counts of robbery, criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting law enforcement, all felonies.

Authorities in Greenwood have arrested a man for robbery Friday afternoon after he was tasered while on top of a stolen minivan. Jameson McCarthy was arrested after he allegedly robbed the Greenwood Discount Tobacco store and injured the store clerk. Police say he then stole a customer's van and injured the driver during the altercation. A civil rights lawsuit has been filed in a case WREG reported on several weeks ago in which a Blytheville Police Officer is seen using a taser on a man on the 4th of July. The lawsuit claimed the officer used excessive force during the encounter. It all started when officers confronted Chardrick Mitchell at an apartment building on East Main Street. Mitchell had reportedly locked his live-in girlfriend out of their place. “If she’s living there, you can’t stop her from getting her own clothes,” the officer is heard saying. Seconds pass and the officer asks Mitchell’s name, but he refused.
“You need to give me your name. If you don`t, I`m going to arrest you for obstruction.” The body camera covered, you hear Mitchell yelling at his girlfriend, then he began walking away. Mitchell told WREG he was heading to open the door, but police said they thought he was going to run away. That’s when you hear the officer shout, “Hey, turn around, you`re (( he fires his taser here)) under arrest.” Attorney James Harris, who filed the lawsuit, said at no point did the officer ever tell Mitchell he was under arrest prior to pulling out his taser.
It was only after shooting him, he said, that the officer said he was under arrest. Harris also pointed out the police didn’t match up with the police body camera footage from the scene. The report claimed the officer told Mitchell he was under arrest before he was shot with the stun gun. Mitchell was charged with obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and refusal to submit to arrest. Mitchell is expected to in court on August 2. The officer is also reportedly still on the force.

Palm Coast, FL - A pit bull that was Tasered by a Flagler County sheriff’s deputy and later euthanized “chewed its way through the door” of a bedroom and bit a total of three people before animal control officers could contain the dog, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deputies arrived at 16 Princess Luise Lane at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday after two women had already been bitten by the dog. Georgia Rose, 36, “had visible bite marks on both of her hands and wrists,” deputy Trevor Jacob reported. Thelma Rose, 62, “had injuries on her head and left wrist.”
Thelma Rose had locked herself and Georgia Rose’s baby in the bathroom afterward because she was “in fear of the dog,” the report states.
Georgia Rose can be seen on the video from the deputy’s body camera talking to the two through the bathroom window.
“Baby don’t cry,” she said.
The deputy and 32-year-old Ancel Rose entered the garage to get Thelma Rose and the baby out of the bathroom when the dog attacked again.
“At this time, I heard a male screaming in distress at the front of the home,” Jacob reported.
He un-holstered his Taser and made his way to the front of the house where Lloyd Rose was “attempting to secure the dog.”
“Once at the front of the home, I observed the pit bull actively biting Lloyd’s arm as he was trying to restrain it by the collar,” the report states.
The deputy Tasered the dog, which gave Lloyd Rose an opportunity to get away.
“As the Taser was cycling, I ordered everyone to move back and to get in the house,” Jacob said. “As Lloyd was walking to the front door the Taser cycle ended and the dog got back up and advanced toward Lloyd. I then used another cycle of the Taser to keep the dog from harming Lloyd again.”
