15 years after hosting Europe's ugliest civil war since the Holocaust, VICE takes a road trip across the remnants of Old Yugoslavia.

While most of us were still hung up on grunge, the republics of the former Yugoslavia spent the early 90s hung up on seceding into their own countries and mass-murdering people over infinitesimal ethnic differences. And the mid 90s. And the late 90s. To commemorate 12 years without a major attempted genocide, we decided to rent a Yugo and take a road trip through the Balkans to see what's going on and try to wrap our thinkers around what was up with all that ethnic cleansin'.
Our first stop: A nostalgic amusement park in northern Serbia that recreates Marshall Tito's Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia with startling accuracy and grimness.

The Balkan Peninsula and the Balkans is a peninsula and a cultural area in Southeast Europe with different and disputed borders.[1] The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains that stretch from the east of Serbia to the Black Sea at the east of Bulgaria.
The Balkans meet the Adriatic Sea on the northwest, Ionian Sea on the southwest, the Mediterranean and Aegean Sea on the south and southeast, and the Black Sea on the east and northeast. The highest point of the Balkans is Mount Musala 2,925 metres (9,596 ft) on the Rila mountain range in Bulgaria.
From Antiquity through the Middle Ages, the Balkan Mountains had been called by the local Thracian[2] name Haemus.[3] According to Greek mythology, the Thracian king Haemus was turned into a mountain by Zeus as a punishment and the mountain has remained with his name. A reverse name scheme has also been suggested. D. Dechev considers that Haemus (Αἷμος) is derived from a Thracian word *saimon, 'mountain ridge'.[4] A third possibility is that "Haemus" (Αἵμος) derives from the Greek word "haema" (αἵμα) meaning 'blood'. The myth relates to a fight between Zeus and the monster/titan Typhon. Zeus injured Typhon with a thunder bolt and Typhon's blood fell on the mountains from which they got their name.[5]
The earliest mention of the name appears in an early 14th-century Arab map, in which the Haemus mountains are referred to as Balkan.[6] The first attested time the name "Balkan" was used in the West for the mountain range in Bulgaria was in a letter sent in 1490 to Pope Innocent VIII by Buonaccorsi Callimaco, an Italian humanist, writer and diplomat.[7] The Ottomans first mention it in a document dated from 1565.[8] There has been no other documented usage of the word to refer to the region before that, despite the fact that other Turkic tribes had already settled earlier or were passing through the Peninsula.[8] There exists also a claim about an earlier Bulgar Turkic origin of the word popular in Bulgaria, however it is only an unscholary assertion.[8] The word was used by the Ottomans in Rumelia in its general meaning of mountain, as in Kod̲j̲a-Balkan, Čatal-Balkan, and Ungurus-Balkani̊, but especially it was applied to the Haemus mountain.[9][10] In Turkish Balkan means "a chain of wooded mountains" (balkan),[11][12] while in Bulgarian language the word balkan (балкан) means "mountain".[13] Another possibility to its etymology is related to Persian bālk meaning "mud", and the Turkish suffix an, i.e. swampy forest.[14] The name is still preserved in Central Asia with the Balkan Daglary (Balkan Mountains)[15] and the Balkan Province of Turkmenistan. 12. Creepy Bulgarian Tree
The Balkans are certainly a mysterious region in Europe. This consists of several countries who often have trouble agreeing on their borders. Geographically speaking it’s the area that’s surrounded by the adriatic sea to the west, mediterranean to the south and the black sea to the east. The region ends north of Romania and this region is slightly smaller than the state of Texas. Someone was walking through the heart of the Balkan mountains in Bulgaria and came across this spooky looking tree. As you take a closer look you can tell it certainly looks a like a person with 2 legs, 2 arms and even a head! The person that snatched the photo said he was speechless when he first spotted it. The more you look at it the creepier it seems to get.
11. Mysterious Boulder
This giant sphere shaped boulder was found in central Bosnia that’s been stumping archaeologists since it was discovered in April of 2016. Some claim that resembles something you would see in an Indiana Jones film but it’s certainly well buried into the ground so that doesn’t seem to be the case. Could it be evidence of a lost prehistoric civilization in the Balkans? This is the heaviest stone ball ever discovered and it has a radius 5 feet! This one is much larger than the stone balls found in Costa Rica, which can weigh up to 15 tons! The weight of this one here in Bosnia has not been determined yet. A myth in Bosnia talks about there being a bunch of these giant spheres around the country but they were broken to see if they contained gold. At the moment, there is no definitive explanation for these but no one is ruling out the possibility that it’s artificial made.

Counterfeiting might be a little bit older than you think. A man from Romania found what appears to be the oldest forged coins in history. A man named Paul found 300 forged silver coins and just because their knockoffs don’t mean their not worth something! These date back all the way to ancient greece and are quite good forgeries.With each coin be nearly 700 bucks, this collection is worth roughly the equivalent of 210,000 US dollars. However due to some new treasure hunting laws, they’re likely only going to be able to keep just 10 percent of this. The coins date back to 350 BC and show a greek soldier on horseback. They’re still made of raw silver but the quality of metal kind of give it’s a way that it’s a forgery.
3. The Hades Centipede
Scientists found a rare species of centipede in Western Croatia in 2015. These were found 3600 feet below the surface of the earth in what’s known as the Velebit Mountain range. This certainly isn’t your average centipede and it has extremely powerful jaws, poison glands and it’s been given the nickname the Hades Centipede after the Greek god of the underworld. This is one of only a few creatures that will spend it’s entire life underground and has absolutely no need for sunlight to survive. The hades centipede is thought to be one of the top predators deep below the surface of the earth.

One of the most mysterious discoveries in the Balkans is quite large and difficult to miss if you’re in the town of Visoko Bosnia. Many would assume it’s just a hill, but is it? Some think it’s much more than just that and this hill is actually man made and in the shape of a pyramid. If it was a pyramid, it would be twice the size of the great pyramid and they believe it would date back to 12,000 BC. The more and more they investigate this site, the more they begin to believe it was in fact man made. Many experts believe this is just a huge cruel hoax. But would something so controversial be well accepted by mainstream historians? We encourage you to do a little research for your own and take a look at it on google maps.
1.Varna Necropolis
The Varna Necropolis is located in the country of Bulgaria and is considered to be the site where the first gold jewelry was ever found. This site dates back to 4600 to 4200 BC and was discovered in 1972. An astonishing total of 294 graves total were found, but the skeleton blinged out in the world’s oldest gold jewerly was the most significant discovery at the necropolis. 3,000 gold artifacts total were uncovered here and that weighed approximately 13.2 pounds total.

This video is about a buddy and me doing a road trip through southeast europe in august 2015 for two weeks. The first week we spend entirely in budapest/ hungary. The second week our trip lead us through the following citys: Belgrad (Serbia), Sofia(Bulgaria), Pristina (Kosovo), Budva (Montenegro), Split and Zagreb (Croatia). While most of us were still hung up on grunge, the republics of the former Yugoslavia spent the early 90s hung up on seceding into their own countries and mass-murdering people over infinitesimal ethnic differences. And the mid 90s. And the late 90s. To commemorate 12 years without a major attempted genocide, we decided to rent a Yugo and take a road trip through the Balkans to see what's going on and try to wrap our thinkers around what was up with all that ethnic cleansin'.
Our first stop: A nostalgic amusement park in northern Serbia that recreates Marshall Tito's Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia with startling accuracy and grimness.

The Balkan Peninsula and the Balkans is a peninsula and a cultural area in Southeast Europe with different and disputed borders.[1] The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains that stretch from the east of Serbia to the Black Sea at the east of Bulgaria.
The Balkans meet the Adriatic Sea on the northwest, Ionian Sea on the southwest, the Mediterranean and Aegean Sea on the south and southeast, and the Black Sea on the east and northeast. The highest point of the Balkans is Mount Musala 2,925 metres (9,596 ft) on the Rila mountain range in Bulgaria.
From Antiquity through the Middle Ages, the Balkan Mountains had been called by the local Thracian[2] name Haemus.[3] According to Greek mythology, the Thracian king Haemus was turned into a mountain by Zeus as a punishment and the mountain has remained with his name. A reverse name scheme has also been suggested. D. Dechev considers that Haemus (Αἷμος) is derived from a Thracian word *saimon, 'mountain ridge'.[4] A third possibility is that "Haemus" (Αἵμος) derives from the Greek word "haema" (αἵμα) meaning 'blood'. The myth relates to a fight between Zeus and the monster/titan Typhon. Zeus injured Typhon with a thunder bolt and Typhon's blood fell on the mountains from which they got their name.[5]
The earliest mention of the name appears in an early 14th-century Arab map, in which the Haemus mountains are referred to as Balkan.[6] The first attested time the name "Balkan" was used in the West for the mountain range in Bulgaria was in a letter sent in 1490 to Pope Innocent VIII by Buonaccorsi Callimaco, an Italian humanist, writer and diplomat.[7] The Ottomans first mention it in a document dated from 1565.[8] There has been no other documented usage of the word to refer to the region before that, despite the fact that other Turkic tribes had already settled earlier or were passing through the Peninsula.[8] There exists also a claim about an earlier Bulgar Turkic origin of the word popular in Bulgaria, however it is only an unscholary assertion.[8] The word was used by the Ottomans in Rumelia in its general meaning of mountain, as in Kod̲j̲a-Balkan, Čatal-Balkan, and Ungurus-Balkani̊, but especially it was applied to the Haemus mountain.[9][10] In Turkish Balkan means "a chain of wooded mountains" (balkan),[11][12] while in Bulgarian language the word balkan (балкан) means "mountain".[13] Another possibility to its etymology is related to Persian bālk meaning "mud", and the Turkish suffix an, i.e. swampy forest.[14] The name is still preserved in Central Asia with the Balkan Daglary (Balkan Mountains)[15] and the Balkan Province of Turkmenistan. 12. Creepy Bulgarian Tree
The Balkans are certainly a mysterious region in Europe. This consists of several countries who often have trouble agreeing on their borders. Geographically speaking it’s the area that’s surrounded by the adriatic sea to the west, mediterranean to the south and the black sea to the east. The region ends north of Romania and this region is slightly smaller than the state of Texas. Someone was walking through the heart of the Balkan mountains in Bulgaria and came across this spooky looking tree. As you take a closer look you can tell it certainly looks a like a person with 2 legs, 2 arms and even a head! The person that snatched the photo said he was speechless when he first spotted it. The more you look at it the creepier it seems to get.
11. Mysterious Boulder
This giant sphere shaped boulder was found in central Bosnia that’s been stumping archaeologists since it was discovered in April of 2016. Some claim that resembles something you would see in an Indiana Jones film but it’s certainly well buried into the ground so that doesn’t seem to be the case. Could it be evidence of a lost prehistoric civilization in the Balkans? This is the heaviest stone ball ever discovered and it has a radius 5 feet! This one is much larger than the stone balls found in Costa Rica, which can weigh up to 15 tons! The weight of this one here in Bosnia has not been determined yet. A myth in Bosnia talks about there being a bunch of these giant spheres around the country but they were broken to see if they contained gold. At the moment, there is no definitive explanation for these but no one is ruling out the possibility that it’s artificial made.

Counterfeiting might be a little bit older than you think. A man from Romania found what appears to be the oldest forged coins in history. A man named Paul found 300 forged silver coins and just because their knockoffs don’t mean their not worth something! These date back all the way to ancient greece and are quite good forgeries.With each coin be nearly 700 bucks, this collection is worth roughly the equivalent of 210,000 US dollars. However due to some new treasure hunting laws, they’re likely only going to be able to keep just 10 percent of this. The coins date back to 350 BC and show a greek soldier on horseback. They’re still made of raw silver but the quality of metal kind of give it’s a way that it’s a forgery.
3. The Hades Centipede
Scientists found a rare species of centipede in Western Croatia in 2015. These were found 3600 feet below the surface of the earth in what’s known as the Velebit Mountain range. This certainly isn’t your average centipede and it has extremely powerful jaws, poison glands and it’s been given the nickname the Hades Centipede after the Greek god of the underworld. This is one of only a few creatures that will spend it’s entire life underground and has absolutely no need for sunlight to survive. The hades centipede is thought to be one of the top predators deep below the surface of the earth.
2. The Bosnian Pyramid
One of the most mysterious discoveries in the Balkans is quite large and difficult to miss if you’re in the town of Visoko Bosnia. Many would assume it’s just a hill, but is it? Some think it’s much more than just that and this hill is actually man made and in the shape of a pyramid. If it was a pyramid, it would be twice the size of the great pyramid and they believe it would date back to 12,000 BC. The more and more they investigate this site, the more they begin to believe it was in fact man made. Many experts believe this is just a huge cruel hoax. But would something so controversial be well accepted by mainstream historians? We encourage you to do a little research for your own and take a look at it on google maps.

Winter Balkans Travel! | GGP Travel Guide
Last December, I traveled to the Balkans in the winter. I wanted to share my experience and I hope this helps to guide your winter Balkans travel if you are interested in traveling to the Balkans in the winter. I started my trip in the capital of Macedonia, which is called Skopje. I flew there from Barcelona and found a really great flight through Wizz Air for only 35 euro! Macedonia in the winter is so cool and quiet, but still very beautiful despite all the fog in Skopje. I also went to Kosovo and Serbia. Something I didn't say in the video is that you cannot enter Serbia from Kosovo. Serbia does not recognize the Kosovo border because it doesn't recognize it as an independent state. Even though the scars of the past are still visible all over the city this is now a place where different cultures and religions are living together peacefully. Churches, mosques and synagogues can be found almost next to each other which is why Sarajevo is often called “European Jerusalem”.
One of our favorite Things to do in Sarajevo was walking around the beautiful old town. We recommend trying the local food, checking out the works of the craftsmen and drinking a typical bosnian coffee.

Last December, I traveled to the Balkans in the winter. I wanted to share my experience and I hope this helps to guide your winter Balkans travel if you are interested in traveling to the Balkans in the winter.
I started my trip in the capital of Macedonia, which is called Skopje. I flew there from Barcelona and found a really great flight through Wizz Air for only 35 euro! Macedonia in the winter is so cool and quiet, but still very beautiful despite all the fog in Skopje. I also went to Kosovo and Serbia. Something I didn't say in the video is that you cannot enter Serbia from Kosovo. Serbia does not recognize the Kosovo border because it doesn't recognize it as an independent state. So after I visited Kosovo, I went back to Macedonia and went to Belgrade, Serbia from Skopje. That took about 6 or 7 hours by bus and that is part of the reason I don't have a lot of content from Serbia because I was only there for 2 nights and one day. But I can't wait to go back for a longer period of time!

Most people think and assume traveling is expensive. And when they see or meet someone who travels extensively without a job, they think they are spending a massive load of money. Or have a great job while they are traveling. The thing is, travel can be really cheap. It can be as cheap as you want it to be. The thing you may have to sacrifice is comfort and luxury. But in doing so, you find yourself having some incredibly rich experiences.
In this video, I show how I've managed to save thousands and buy myself more time across the Balkans in Southern Europe. For starters, I've managed to accrue over 150,000 miles across many airlines miles programs paying only $6 for a flight to Europe. This is called travel hacking, where you strategically accrue many miles for flights and pay almost nothing to fly.
As far as lodging goes, I've always aimed to use Couchsurfing first. Couchsurfing is basically the Facebook for travelers. You travel in another town ask for a place to stay, they welcome you in, you surf their couch to sleep, and you make yourself a friend in the process while learning about your destination faster.
If that doesn't work, I chose from several different options. First is usually booking.com since it has the most options to choose from and most of the time you don't have to put down a credit card. Next is Hostelworld if there are hostels in to pay for a bed instead of a whole room. And lastly, Airbnb. I love Airbnb because the stays are all very unique and personal. It's like a home away from home. Then there is buying a tent and camping out if it's legal, or illegal :)
Next is how to get around. No matter where you go in the world, there is always a means to get somewhere. There are always buses going somewhere and as much as I hate buses, they are always there. Next is my favorite travel option, Trains. I've always loved trains and just simply putting your bag away, sitting down, and watching the Earth go by while you ride on the tracks. There aren't in every single country you go to, but when there are trains, I'm all about it. My favorite option and something I have discovered in Romania is hitchhiking. Hitchhiking is common in Europe and people do it all around the world. You hit the edge of town, find a safe place on the side of the road and on ramp, and be patient. Next thing you know you are catching a ride with someone who you can chat with and who knows, have a beer with or make a lifelong friend.
Hitchhiking has changed my views in travel because I now know that I can do whatever I want, without limiting myself to a not so awesome train and bus schedule. There have been very few times where I have been unlucky but many times where I have had incredible experiences.
Eating local cuisine is a very important part of travel. But unfortunately, tourist traps ruin it for budget travelers since the prices to eat are incredibly unreasonable. That's why I usually walk around town to scope out whats affordable first. If I have a kitchen, I'll buy groceries. And if all that fails, then I will find a cheap restaurant.
Currency exchange can be a hassle, especially if you are aware of the terrible rates that can cost too much. I have pin and chip technology on my miles accrual cards which are useful all over Europe. I earn miles in the process. When I acquire money, I use TD bank for large money withdrawals and only get charged a $3 ATM fee. For small conversions, I will go to an exchange shop and try to go to a place with a decent exchange rate.
Lastly, when you travel on a budget so much, sometimes you may miss out on a popular tourist attraction. On my journey, I missed out on visiting the Hagia Sofia museum in Istanbul and renting a car to visit an abandoned building in Bulgaria. If you run into a situation where you are not sure if you want to spend more than a certain amount. Ask yourself, will I regret not doing this later?
So you've figured out how to travel on a budget and it's all working out for you. But one last thing you need to do and never forget. HAVE FUN :)

Most people think and assume traveling is expensive. And when they see or meet someone who travels extensively without a job, they think they are spending a massive load of money. Or have a great job while they are traveling. The thing is, travel can be really cheap. It can be as cheap as you want it to be. The thing you may have to sacrifice is comfort and luxury. But in doing so, you find yourself having some incredibly rich experiences.
In this video, I show how I've managed to save thousands and buy myself more time across the Balkans in Southern Europe. For starters, I've managed to accrue over 150,000 miles across many airlines miles programs paying only $6 for a flight to Europe. This is called travel hacking, where you strategically accrue many miles for flights and pay almost nothing to fly.
As far as lodging goes, I've always aimed to use Couchsurfing first. Couchsurfing is basically the Facebook for travelers. You travel in another town ask for a place to stay, they welcome you in, you surf their couch to sleep, and you make yourself a friend in the process while learning about your destination faster.
If that doesn't work, I chose from several different options. First is usually booking.com since it has the most options to choose from and most of the time you don't have to put down a credit card. Next is Hostelworld if there are hostels in to pay for a bed instead of a whole room. And lastly, Airbnb. I love Airbnb because the stays are all very unique and personal. It's like a home away from home. Then there is buying a tent and camping out if it's legal, or illegal :)
Next is how to get around. No matter where you go in the world, there is always a means to get somewhere. There are always buses going somewhere and as much as I hate buses, they are always there. Next is my favorite travel option, Trains. I've always loved trains and just simply putting your bag away, sitting down, and watching the Earth go by while you ride on the tracks. As documented in numerous morning-radio parodies of the Beach Boys' "Kokomo," the 1999 War in Kosovo was a grisly, nebulous affair in which the disputed region's Serbian and Albanian populations accused one another of rape, ethnic cleansing, and other sordid atrocities. Thanks to a blow job, the United States decided to get involved, and following an intensive bombing campaign by NATO fighter jets, the situation in Kosovo is now... still fucked. Both the Serbs and the Albanians claim the region belongs to them, neither side is budging, and people still regularly get their ass kicked for being from the wrong group in the wrong part of town. The most Seussian example of this protracted butter battle is a 20-yard bridge in the city of Mitrovica that links the Serbian and Albanian quarters and is guarded every night by a group of roughnecks on both sides to make sure no one crosses--despite the fact that there are no less than four other bridges across the same stretch of river that nobody gives a shit about.

This video is about a buddy and me doing a road trip through southeast europe in august 2015 for two weeks. The first week we spend entirely in budapest/ hungary. The second week our trip lead us through the following citys: Belgrad (Serbia), Sofia(Bulgaria), Pristina (Kosovo), Budva (Montenegro), Split and Zagreb (Croatia). While most of us were still hung up on grunge, the republics of the former Yugoslavia spent the early 90s hung up on seceding into their own countries and mass-murdering people over infinitesimal ethnic differences. And the mid 90s. And the late 90s. To commemorate 12 years without a major attempted genocide, we decided to rent a Yugo and take a road trip through the Balkans to see what's going on and try to wrap our thinkers around what was up with all that ethnic cleansin'.
Our first stop: A nostalgic amusement park in northern Serbia that recreates Marshall Tito's Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia with startling accuracy and grimness.

The Balkan Peninsula and the Balkans is a peninsula and a cultural area in Southeast Europe with different and disputed borders.[1] The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains that stretch from the east of Serbia to the Black Sea at the east of Bulgaria.
The Balkans meet the Adriatic Sea on the northwest, Ionian Sea on the southwest, the Mediterranean and Aegean Sea on the south and southeast, and the Black Sea on the east and northeast. The highest point of the Balkans is Mount Musala 2,925 metres (9,596 ft) on the Rila mountain range in Bulgaria.
From Antiquity through the Middle Ages, the Balkan Mountains had been called by the local Thracian[2] name Haemus.[3] According to Greek mythology, the Thracian king Haemus was turned into a mountain by Zeus as a punishment and the mountain has remained with his name. A reverse name scheme has also been suggested. D. Dechev considers that Haemus (Αἷμος) is derived from a Thracian word *saimon, 'mountain ridge'.[4] A third possibility is that "Haemus" (Αἵμος) derives from the Greek word "haema" (αἵμα) meaning 'blood'. The myth relates to a fight between Zeus and the monster/titan Typhon. Zeus injured Typhon with a thunder bolt and Typhon's blood fell on the mountains from which they got their name.[5]
The earliest mention of the name appears in an early 14th-century Arab map, in which the Haemus mountains are referred to as Balkan.[6] The first attested time the name "Balkan" was used in the West for the mountain range in Bulgaria was in a letter sent in 1490 to Pope Innocent VIII by Buonaccorsi Callimaco, an Italian humanist, writer and diplomat.[7] The Ottomans first mention it in a document dated from 1565.[8] There has been no other documented usage of the word to refer to the region before that, despite the fact that other Turkic tribes had already settled earlier or were passing through the Peninsula.[8] There exists also a claim about an earlier Bulgar Turkic origin of the word popular in Bulgaria, however it is only an unscholary assertion.[8] The word was used by the Ottomans in Rumelia in its general meaning of mountain, as in Kod̲j̲a-Balkan, Čatal-Balkan, and Ungurus-Balkani̊, but especially it was applied to the Haemus mountain.[9][10] In Turkish Balkan means "a chain of wooded mountains" (balkan),[11][12] while in Bulgarian language the word balkan (балкан) means "mountain".[13] Another possibility to its etymology is related to Persian bālk meaning "mud", and the Turkish suffix an, i.e. swampy forest.[14] The name is still preserved in Central Asia with the Balkan Daglary (Balkan Mountains)[15] and the Balkan Province of Turkmenistan. Someone was walking through the heart of the Balkan mountains in Bulgaria and came across this spooky looking tree. As you take a closer look you can tell it certainly looks a like a person with 2 legs, 2 arms and even a head! The person that snatched the photo said he was speechless when he first spotted it. The more you look at it the creepier it seems to get.
11. Mysterious Boulder
This giant sphere shaped boulder was found in central Bosnia that’s been stumping archaeologists since it was discovered in April of 2016. Some claim that resembles something you would see in an Indiana Jones film but it’s certainly well buried into the ground so that doesn’t seem to be the case. Could it be evidence of a lost prehistoric civilization in the Balkans? This is the heaviest stone ball ever discovered and it has a radius 5 feet! This one is much larger than the stone balls found in Costa Rica, which can weigh up to 15 tons! The weight of this one here in Bosnia has not been determined yet. A myth in Bosnia talks about there being a bunch of these giant spheres around the country but they were broken to see if they contained gold. At the moment, there is no definitive explanation for these but no one is ruling out the possibility that it’s artificial made.

Counterfeiting might be a little bit older than you think. A man from Romania found what appears to be the oldest forged coins in history. A man named Paul found 300 forged silver coins and just because their knockoffs don’t mean their not worth something! These date back all the way to ancient greece and are quite good forgeries.With each coin be nearly 700 bucks, this collection is worth roughly the equivalent of 210,000 US dollars. However due to some new treasure hunting laws, they’re likely only going to be able to keep just 10 percent of this. The coins date back to 350 BC and show a greek soldier on horseback. They’re still made of raw silver but the quality of metal kind of give it’s a way that it’s a forgery.
3. The Hades Centipede
Scientists found a rare species of centipede in Western Croatia in 2015. These were found 3600 feet below the surface of the earth in what’s known as the Velebit Mountain range. This certainly isn’t your average centipede and it has extremely powerful jaws, poison glands and it’s been given the nickname the Hades Centipede after the Greek god of the underworld. This is one of only a few creatures that will spend it’s entire life underground and has absolutely no need for sunlight to survive. The hades centipede is thought to be one of the top predators deep below the surface of the earth.
2. The Bosnian Pyramid
One of the most mysterious discoveries in the Balkans is quite large and difficult to miss if you’re in the town of Visoko Bosnia. Many would assume it’s just a hill, but is it? Some think it’s much more than just that and this hill is actually man made and in the shape of a pyramid. If it was a pyramid, it would be twice the size of the great pyramid and they believe it would date back to 12,000 BC. The more and more they investigate this site, the more they begin to believe it was in fact man made. Many experts believe this is just a huge cruel hoax. But would something so controversial be well accepted by mainstream historians? We encourage you to do a little research for your own and take a look at it on google maps.

The Varna Necropolis is located in the country of Bulgaria and is considered to be the site where the first gold jewelry was ever found. This site dates back to 4600 to 4200 BC and was discovered in 1972. An astonishing total of 294 graves total were found, but the skeleton blinged out in the world’s oldest gold jewerly was the most significant discovery at the necropolis. 3,000 gold artifacts total were uncovered here and that weighed approximately 13.2 pounds total.
