Speaking English is quite difficult, but if you know how to use the correct English Grammar phrases, you would never struggle. In this English Grammar lesson, you’re going to learn how to use ‘would rather’ to express a preference with the same and different subject in a sentence.

Would rather with the same subject:
Example: I’d rather go for dinner. (used for the present and future)
Example: I’d rather not fly. I hate planes. (negative-use not in the would rather clause)
Example: She’d rather have spent the money on a vacation. (it means she didn’t spend the money on a vacation in the past).
To express a past preference, use the present perfect tense.
Would rather with a different subject:
Example: I’d rather you went for dinner. ( where I prefer you going for dinner)
Use a simple past tense when you prefer that someone else does something
Example: She’d rather you didn’t phone her after 10 pm. (negative)
Use the negative in the second clause and not in the would rather clause when you have two subjects in the sentence, even though you are talking about a present preference.
Example: I’d rather you hadn’t rung me at work. (past tense)
Use the past perfect tense when you say that you preferred someone else doing or not doing something in the past.

UPDATE 05/28/2012:
exchanged source video for 720p version, no big changes to the content, only small corrections to framing (4:3 --16:9), audio cleanup and 2 or 3 small changes to the edit.
due to the 500MB upload limit for free members the bitrate is still rather low at 3200, so don't expect a massive quality boost....
i also changed the title and added "rather" and "(believable)" to clear up some misunderstandings as to why i didn't add this or that ;)

Clean Bandit
Clean Bandit is an English electronic group founded in Cambridge, England, in 2009. The group consists of Jack Patterson, Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto, and Neil Amin-Smith.
Their 2010 single "Mozart's House", released on Black Butter Records, reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart. In January 2014, they scored their first UK Singles Chart-topping single with "Rather Be", a collaboration with Jess Glynne, featuring elements of both classical and dance music. "Rather Be" remained at the top of the chart for four weeks. In 2014, they achieved their first US Top 10 single with "Rather Be" peaking at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The group had its largest performance in summer of 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan, at the closing ceremony of 2015 European Games, which had over 68,000 attendances.
In 2015, "Rather Be" won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.
History
2006–12: formation and career beginnings
Band members Jack Patterson, Grace Chatto, and Neil Amin-Smith met while studying as undergraduates at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. At the time, Amin-Smith was leading a string quartet together with Chatto, who both attended Westminster School.

UPDATE 05/28/2012: exchanged source video for 720p version, no big changes to the content, only small corrections to framing (4:3 --16:9), audio cleanup and 2 or 3 small changes to the edit. due to the 500MB upload limit for free members the bitrate is still rather low at 3200, so don't expect a massive quality boost.... i also changed the title and added "rather" and "(believable)" to clear up some misunderstandings as to why i didn't add this or that ;) --- it's a little rough around the edges and could have used a day or two to refine the content, but i guess it's informative enough to share. Filming in Tokyo was an amazing experience: we spent almost a week there and everyone was so helpful. We made it ourselves as always, which was quite scary as we've never produced anything so far away before. We had a bit of trouble filming the scene on the train though. Turns out it's considered incredibly rude to make noise on a train so when we started dancing around to the track in the carriage with the extras, it didn't go down well!! Got shouted at :( "

Rather Severely Pickled!
Animated installation inside the Stonewall Center in downtown Columbus, Ohio. This was 2 week project from concept to finish. Animation by Jon Stommel and Travis Czekalski, collectively known as "Rather Severe", the photos were sequenced in After Effects to "Pickled!", off of Flying Lotus's new album Cosmogramma. Lily - a rather flowery time lapse
This video came 1St in it's class and 2nd over all in IWT / IARC / CIMES competition 2013, this year it was held in Baden - Baden Germany A time lapse of several lilies opening and closing. Shot in my tiny kitchen cupboard using a Canon 300D and 20D. Edited in Adobe After Effects I created the dubstep inspired tune in cubase. The time lapse interval was between 6 and and 10 minutes per shot.

due to the 500MB upload limit for free members the bitrate is still rather low at 3200, so don't expect a massive quality boost....
i also changed the title and added "rather" and "(believable)" to clear up some misunderstandings as to why i didn't add this or that ;)

Filming in Tokyo was an amazing experience: we spent almost a week there and everyone was so helpful. We made it ourselves as always, which was quite scary as we've never produced anything so far away before. We had a bit of trouble filming the scene on the train though. Turns out it's considered incredibly rude to make noise on a train so when we started dancing around to the track in the carriage with the extras, it didn't go down well!! Got shouted at :( "

This is the making of the Phonotrope that comprised the title sequence The title sequence shown here is from the rough cut and changed a bit in the final film but for the purposes of seeing the whole Phonotrope I have used the rough cut.

A time lapse of several lilies opening and closing. Shot in my tiny kitchen cupboard using a Canon 300D and 20D. Edited in Adobe After Effects
I created the dubstep inspired tune in cubase.
The time lapse interval was between 6 and and 10 minutes per shot.

a rather short history of (believable) CG characters in movies
UPDATE 05/28/2012: exchanged source video for 720p version, no big changes to the content, only small corrections to framing (4:3 --16:9), audio cleanup and 2 or 3 small changes to the edit. due to the 500MB upload limit for free members the bitrate is still rather low at 3200, so don't expect a massive quality boost.... i also changed the title and added "rather" and "(believable)" to clear up some misunderstandings as to why i didn't add this or that ;) --- it's a little rough around the edges and could have used a day or two to refine the content, but i guess it's informative enough to share. Filming in Tokyo was an amazing experience: we spent almost a week there and everyone was so helpful. We made it ourselves as always, which was quite scary as we've never produced anything so far away before. We had a bit of trouble filming the scene on the train though. Turns out it's considered incredibly rude to make noise on a train so when we started dancing around to the track in the carriage with the extras, it didn't go down well!! Got shouted at :( "

Lily - a rather flowery time lapse
This video came 1St in it's class and 2nd over all in IWT / IARC / CIMES competition 2013, this year it was held in Baden - Baden Germany A time lapse of several lilies opening and closing. Shot in my tiny kitchen cupboard using a Canon 300D and 20D. Edited in Adobe After Effects I created the dubstep inspired tune in cubase. The time lapse interval was between 6 and and 10 minutes per shot.

Speaking English is quite difficult, but if you know how to use the correct English Grammar phrases, you would never struggle. In this English Grammar lesson, you’re going to learn how to use ‘would rather’ to express a preference with the same and different subject in a sentence.

Would rather with the same subject:
Example: I’d rather go for dinner. (used for the present and future)
Example: I’d rather not fly. I hate planes. (negative-use not in the would rather clause)
Example: She’d rather have spent the money on a vacation. (it means she didn’t spend the money on a vacation in the past).
To express a past preference, use the present perfect tense.
Would rather with a different subject:
Example: I’d rather you went for dinner. ( where I prefer you going for dinner)
Use a simple past tense when you prefer that someone else does something
Example: She’d rather you didn’t phone her after 10 pm. (negative)
Use the negative in the second clause and not in the would rather clause when you have two subjects in the sentence, even though you are talking about a present preference.
Example: I’d rather you hadn’t rung me at work. (past tense)

due to the 500MB upload limit for free members the bitrate is still rather low at 3200, so don't expect a massive quality boost....
i also changed the title and added "rather" and "(believable)" to clear up some misunderstandings as to why i didn't add this or that ;)

Filming in Tokyo was an amazing experience: we spent almost a week there and everyone was so helpful. We made it ourselves as always, which was quite scary as we've never produced anything so far away before. We had a bit of trouble filming the scene on the train though. Turns out it's considered incredibly rude to make noise on a train so when we started dancing around to the track in the carriage with the extras, it didn't go down well!! Got shouted at :( "

A time lapse of several lilies opening and closing. Shot in my tiny kitchen cupboard using a Canon 300D and 20D. Edited in Adobe After Effects
I created the dubstep inspired tune in cubase.
The time lapse interval was between 6 and and 10 minutes per shot.
