Kamerad Erich Kempka, Jahrgang 1910 ehem. SS-Sturmbannführer bei dem Führerbegleitkommando der Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, erzählte in einer historischen Aufnahme aus dem Jahr 1967 von seinen Erlebnissen.
Erich Kempka (1910 - 1975) gehörte zu den treuesten Gefolgsleuten des Führers des Großdeutschen Reiches und der NSDAP, des Reichskanzlers Adolf Hitler.
Kempka war Cheffahrer Hitlers und war SS Sturmbannführer im Majorsrang der Waffen-SS und im persönlichen Umfeld Hitlers in den letzten Jahren tagein tagaus bis zum bitteren Untergang in der Ruinen der Reichshauptstadt Berlin.
Am 30. April 1945 erfüllte er zusammen mit Otto Günsche den letzten Befehl seines "Chefs". Die Verbrennung seiner und seiner Ehefrau Eva Brauns Leiche sowie des Schäferhundes Blondi bis zur Unkenntlichkeit und die Beseitigung der sterblichen Überreste, damit sie dem hasserfüllten Feind nicht in die Hände fielen.

Hitler said "goodbye" to them and told them that he didn't want to be disturbed anymore. And then I believe after one or two hours someone said 'I think it's done'. He had heard the gunshot. STORYLINE
60 years ago this week on the streets of Berlin, Soviet and German forces were locked in the apocalyptic finale to World War II in Europe.
Tens of thousands were dying, and whole city blocks were collapsing in rubble.
But 30 feet underground, in Adolf Hitler's bunker, a strange calm had taken hold.
Modern apartment blocks now stand beside the site of the infamous bunker, which lies under near-derelict land.
But some still have vivid memories of what happened there is the final days of the war.
87-year-old Rochus Misch was an SS Staff Sergeant during the war, and Hitler's bodyguard.
On April 30, 1945, Misch - then 27- had just been told that the Fuehrer was not to be disturbed - and everybody knew what that meant.
Somebody mustered the nerve to enter the sitting room, and Misch peered inside.
What he saw is carved forever in his memory: Hitler crumpled over a table, his cheek streaked with blood from the self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
Eva Braun, whom he had wed two nights before, had taken cyanide.
Misch ran upstairs to tell his supervisor the news.
By the time he returned downstairs, Hitler's corpse was in a blanket on the floor.
Hitler and Braun were being taken above ground to a small garden to be doused in gasoline and incinerated.
A member since 1937 of the SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler division, originally formed as the Fuhrer's personal bodyguard, Misch was attached to a regular army unit for the invasion of Poland which started World War II.
Wounded in action, he was sent back to Germany to recover and was picked in 1940 as one of two loyal SS men who would serve as Hitler's bodyguards and general assistants.

Otto Günsche (24 September 1917 – 2 October 2003) was a Sturmbannführer (Major) in the Waffen-SS and a member of 1st SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler before he became Adolf Hitler's personal adjutant. He was captured by soldiers of the Red Army on 2 May 1945. After various prisons and labor camps in the USSR, he was released from Bautzen Penitentiary on 2 May 1956.
Günsche was born in Jena in Thuringia. After leaving secondary school at 16 he volunteered for the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler and joined the Nazi Party. He first met Adolf Hitler in 1936. He was Hitler's SS orderly officer from 1940 to 1941. He then had front-line combat service until January 1943 when Günsche became a personal adjutant for Hitler. In 1944, Günsche fought on the eastern front and then in France until March 1944 when he again was appointed a personal adjutant for Hitler. He was present at the 20 July 1944 attempt to kill Hitler at the Wolf's Lair in Rastenburg. The bomb explosion burst Günsche's eardrums and caused him to receive a number of contusions.

Adolf Hitler (German: [ˈadɔlf ˈhɪtlɐ] (
listen); 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP), commonly referred to as the Nazi Party). He was chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and dictator of Nazi Germany (as Führer und Reichskanzler) from 1934 to 1945. Hitler is commonly associated with the rise of fascism in Europe, World War II, and the Holocaust.
A decorated veteran of World War I, Hitler joined the German Workers' Party, precursor of the Nazi Party, in 1919, and became leader of the NSDAP in 1921. In 1923, he attempted a coup d'état, known as the Beer Hall Putsch, in Munich. The failed coup resulted in Hitler's imprisonment, during which time he wrote his memoir, Mein Kampf (My Struggle). After his release in 1924, Hitler gained popular support by attacking the Treaty of Versailles and promoting Pan-Germanism, antisemitism, and anticommunism with charismatic oratory and Nazi propaganda. After his appointment as chancellor in 1933, he transformed the Weimar Republic into the Third Reich, a single-party dictatorship based on the totalitarian and autocratic ideology of Nazism. His aim was to establish a New Order of absolute Nazi German hegemony in continental Europe.

"Downfall" explores these final days of the Reich, where senior German leaders (such as Himmler and Goring) began defecting from their beloved Fuhrer, in an effort to save their own lives, while still others (Joseph Goebbels) pledge to die with Hitler. Hitler, himself, degenerates into a paranoid shell of a man, full of optimism one moment and suicidal depression the next. When the end finally does comes, and Hitler lies dead by his own hand, what is left of his military must find a way to end the killing that is the Battle of Berlin, and lay down their arms in surrender.

STORYLINE
60 years ago this week on the streets of Berlin, Soviet and German forces were locked in the apocalyptic finale to World War II in Europe.
Tens of thousands were dying, and whole city blocks were collapsing in rubble.
But 30 feet underground, in Adolf Hitler's bunker, a strange calm had taken hold.
Modern apartment blocks now stand beside the site of the infamous bunker, which lies under near-derelict land.
But some still have vivid memories of what happened there is the final days of the war.
87-year-old Rochus Misch was an SS Staff Sergeant during the war, and Hitler's bodyguard.
On April 30, 1945, Misch - then 27- had just been told that the Fuehrer was not to be disturbed - and everybody knew what that meant.
Somebody mustered the nerve to enter the sitting room, and Misch peered inside.
What he saw is carved forever in his memory: Hitler crumpled over a table, his cheek streaked with blood from the self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
Eva Braun, whom he had wed two nights before, had taken cyanide.
Misch ran upstairs to tell his supervisor the news.
By the time he returned downstairs, Hitler's corpse was in a blanket on the floor.
Hitler and Braun were being taken above ground to a small garden to be doused in gasoline and incinerated.
A member since 1937 of the SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler division, originally formed as the Fuhrer's personal bodyguard, Misch was attached to a regular army unit for the invasion of Poland which started World War II.
Wounded in action, he was sent back to Germany to recover and was picked in 1940 as one of two loyal SS men who would serve as Hitler's bodyguards and general assistants.
